Yea, it was a great flic. It was much more than I expected. There were some BIG lightning traces going across the sky on my way home. Sorry I missed the after-movie beers but I'm glad I left when I did! |

damn you jim, i was looking at the f800gs, and now i want one bad. It would do everything, twisties, touring, some offroad. Ill have to check one out when they hit dealers, but that will probably make things worse... |

No! Don't go over to the Dark Side! BMW definitely makes some cool bikes. I dropped my Uly off at Low Country this morning to get the front isolator checked out. I had a minor oil weep at the clutch cable and they offered to take care of that too. Whatever you can say about their lack of Buell promotion they do seem to make a real effort to take care of me when I go there. Matt- they only had 3 Buells today: a Blast (over near the service desks), and an 1125R and a red XB12XT by the front door. I also ran into another Badwebber, Gemini, who was bringing his XB9R in for the headlight recall. He told about his recent test ride on an 1125R and got me thinking about trying one sometime soon...

Matt - I'm not taking all the blame. I only starting talking about it because of the movie the other night. If the F800GS ever gets here I'm afraid all you'll be able to do for awhile is look at one. It seems BMW is only sending one per dealer initially and most dealers have a waiting list of several people who have put down deposits. You'd have a much better chance of getting an '09 F650GS with the de-tuned 798cc twin cylinder engine. And BTW, thanks for riding by today while I was sweating buckets out working in the yard. Way to rub it in! |

pretty much its coming down to the gs or a uly for my next bike. Probably the uly. Edit- definnently the uly, saw how tall the seat was on the gs, i would need like 6 inch platform boots to touch. Sorry about the fly by jim, its the weekend, its nice and so im usually riding! (Message edited by guell on August 02, 2008) (Message edited by guell on August 02, 2008) |

Welp, I'm back from Low Country with the Uly. The tech says front mount has "normal wear and tear" and is OK. Vibration is definitely less now so he must have adjusted the primary chain. I'm thinking that ~20 miles of low speed chugging I did on rough gravel roads stretched out the primary chain significantly- I had checked it only ~1000 miles or so before the trip and it was within spec. They did order a new clutch cable (had a minor oil weep at the primary) and the new type clutch cable form, so I'm happy with the visit. |

Crap, i dont even know if i want to do that front end conversion on my bike anymore. Would almost rather just save my money and buy the uly sooner than possibly loose money on the m2. |

Matt- I feel your pain. I invested in a Drummer exhaust, race ECM, free-flow air filter, and aftermarket seat for my S3, then ~4 months later came into some money and was able to buy my Uly. Seems like it's awfully hard to sell a tuber these days, and modifications don't do anything to help. |

Matt, For what little you could get for the clone, you might as well keep it. You will just be sorry if you let it go. |

Matt, don't do any too rash. I'd hate for you to miss out on a great deal on a slightly used '08 Uly, should one come along. Speaking of rash, I'm proud of you wearing ATGATT yesterday afternoon with the 100+ heat index. |

Did anyone get drenched yesterday? I sure did and I was on the XB this time! What a treat that was. I havent gotten that wet in a long time from the rain. Not the best bike to ride in the rain because of the tail that is on the lighting. Anyhow I was really impressed about the way it reacted in that much water. Great all around bike in the handling department. No slips or slides anywhere. Still drying out this morning though!! |

I got in a hard rain on the way home from work yesterday too but I was spared a soaking because of the rain gear. Those BIG rain drops felt like bees stinging. Wondered at one point if it was some hail but I don't think so. Yes my XB handled real well in that wet too. Just had to remember to allow more following distance and too slow it down just a tad.... |

Got my new (guaranteed leak-free) clutch cable and new type guide installed under warranty at Low Country today. A group of Patriot Guard riders were gathered and left the parking lot about 8 AM to give an escort to some unfortunate soldier- that was pretty cool to see. The mechanic that rides the 1125R arrived for work while I was there- I didn't get a chance to talk to him but I did stick my head out the door long enough to hear the bike idling before he cut it off. Man, it sounded GOOD! Hmm, if they ever come out with a Rotax-powered Uly, I might just have to try one. |

Guys, since I got my Blackberry and had all of my personal email sent to it, I had to cancel the notifications for the BADWEB Board. You guys were burning up my Blackberry. So I have not been here for a couple of months. But, I wanted to make sure that you all knew about a poker run for a good cause next month. The poker run will benefit Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding (http://www.catr-therapeuticriding.org/). They are mostly volunteers who put time into a non profit organization so that physically and mentally challenged kids can learn to ride horses. It is a great cause and a chance for us SCBRs to get together in town and have some fun. It would be great if we could meet somewhere before hand and all ride together. If you are interested let me know. The best way to reach me is via jjmysd10@yahoo.com I have a flyer for the poker run but could not get it small enough to upload to the site so email me for a copy. If you have any suggestions, just let me know. Thanks, Jeff |
