So what's up with the monthly meet at Fort Washington this coming Saturday...last one? There is a DCBRAG meeting scheduled for Saturday, 2 August. I'd like to propose a protest ride from Ft Washington HD to Old Glory Buell on August 2, 2008. We'll chat it up a bit, see if Ft Washington has any deals left on Buell parts and like all good HD riders grab a bite to eat before we head out to Old Glory. I have a route thats about 55 miles long and mostly back roads. Any takers? Lets call it a memorial ride. Meet at Ft Washington, leave for Old Glory at Noon.

Kernan Hospital, 2220 Kernan Drive, Baltimore, MD 21207 Attn: Joe Goetz - T911 I'm in, anybody else? _______________________________________ Cool hillclimb pics!!! I wish I had gone but we were pretty tired after the Total Control Class on Saturday. |

Link to the pics I took from the Carlisle Rally: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 381708.html?1217458739 Scroll down for em. Thought I'd share. And before you guys start bustin' on me about pics of all the Busa's, I was taking them for a friend and just tossed em in. At least I left out all the pics I took of the Ducati Monster (which I find to be a VERY sexy bike)

Sorry all, I've been out of it this year. Finally got my bike back in decent running condition just a few more tweaks... Wow, two Buellers down in such a short time. I'll try to get more info on Benjamin Sochrin and Joe. Perhaps contacting the families is a good way to start. Not sure if I'll be available Sat. for the ride, let's see. |

In for Saturday's ride, what time at Ft. Wash? Stopped by HDoF today, Ratbuell took one heck of a beating. I was told he broke both legs (one crushed), hip and 2 vertebrae. Single vehicle accident. My thoughts go out to our good 'ol riding buddy and Buell salesman extraordinaire, Joe G. and his lovely wife Kim. Joe/Kim if you guys are checking the thread, we hope to visit you Saturday if that's OK. |

Rasmonis - He did take one heck of a beating and he's lucky to be alive. No crushed bones. He sustained some pretty traumatic injuries - I'm being told full recovery! Joe is psyched that some of you may come by on Saturday! Kim |

What a day. First we went to FT Washington to pillage, er, see what was left and take home some goodies. We found the old 'vintage' BRAG swag and handed it out to all who attended. Somehow the Buell sign ended up in this car...... These are the bikes that are left, two TT's and a Blast. The 1125 is GONE! After that we rode over to our new 'host' Old Glory HD/Buell, then on to Baltimore to visit Joe. Joe was in great spirits and he's got great support from Kim and Kathy. Let us know if you need anything! We did get him some spoils from our booty recovered earlier in the day. Thanks to everyone who rode/drove and otherwise participated! Only twenty years old....damn shame....I realize every riding season this is going to happen but it seems like an especially active year for accidents. |

Too many cells phones, GPS units and multitudes of other distractions in cars these day. Not to mention the number of cars on the road. Of course the guy who hit Ben was 80 years old. Doubt he had any of these things. Keeping his mind on the road was probably distracting enough. |

Well, I stood on my own for 8 minutes today, then sat for a bit to clear my head and stood for another 4. First time standing since July 16, so I'm pretty psyched. The docs are happy with my bones and pins and bolts and plates at this point, so that makes me as happy as I can be given the situation...but progress is progress. I'm very sorry to hear about Ben (although I thought I heard/read somewhere the person was 18, not 80). He was a great kid, very polite and self-aware. Ferris is right - lots of accidents this year, but that's likely due to the increased number of riders this season because of fuel prices, etc. Maybe I'll refocus my career or add a second job when I'm out of here, lobbying to have motorcycle awareness become a major part of driver training, if not just here in MD then in all states' DMVs. My thoughts are with Ben's family. |

Joe, Count me in on your efforts. Driver awareness is severely lacking in that dept. and I Looking for a career change as well. Glad to hear you're back on your feet. You know lack of exercise goes straight to your butt. |

Supposedly the Motorcycle Safety office at the MVA has someone that does exactly that, or they were looking for someone last year anyway. |

The motorist involved in the accident was 80 according to the news article, http://mobile.baltimoresun.com/news.jsp?key=199384 &rc=mane . How often do you have to be re-tested for a driver's license in Maryland? I think after a certain age it should be annually. Joe, it's good to here you're making progress along that road to recovery. Any estimates on when you'll get out of there ? |
