It's aliiiive! The KTM 50 started for the first time tonight. I took it apart, drained the tank, dismantled the carb, and cleaned out some nasty sludge. After that, I just had to put some fresh gas in it and kick it over a couple of times. I think it might even be louder than the TTR. I put it back together, and I'll take it out for its first test ride tomorrow when the neighbors won't shoot at me. |

Man, that KTM has a hell of a top end. It isn't running great yet, but it's ridable at least. I'm still looking for a manual so I can figure out which screws adjust what on the carb. |

Those 1125R's are dirt cheap! Stealth- sorry to hear you are still having issues. That really sucks. Fran- I know you are perfectly capable of making a cable, as I am also, but time rules my life and I just bought one from these guys and it will be here Monday. I just don't have the time to scrounge for all the parts, etc. http://www.deutschconnector.com/cgi-bin/store/agor a.cgi?xm=on&product_id=902 |

> SWEET!!! 50 racing anyone?? It's definitely a race bike. It only has one gear, and it's all top end. It won't make much of a stunter, but it sure is fast. |

I might be down for a ride, but how early I go depends on how late I stay up Saturday night. |

Any knowledgable Linux fans out there? If so, I have a question. I am getting ready to load an OS on my PC (post hard drive crash). I really want to get away from Microsoft, so I am going with Linux. Here is the catch... Melissa needs to be able to sit at the computer, and pretend she is using windows basically. It doesn't matter to me since I need to learn Linux and it's various interfaces anyway. So, I am looking at Ubuntu, Fedora, and Xfce. Does anyone have any input/suggestions/whatnot on what would be the bestest? I am currently leaning heavily towards Fedora, just cuz it looks purdy, and I think Melissa would have no problem with the interface, and unlike the debian download (21 iso files @ 650Mb each), it is only one CD download. Thanks in advance. (Message edited by ratyson on July 25, 2008) |

I use Ubuntu. It's the friendliest and prettiest I've found so far. It comes with compiz enabled, so you get some really cool desktop effects. Here's a video of some of the compiz effects: http://optimus.incorrect.org/videos/ubuntu_7_10_co mpiz.wmv You can find a bunch more on YouTube by searching for "compiz." |

I've been running Ubuntu for a while. Extra cool. Only the puters I've been running it on aren't exactly fast. We're talking PentiumII. If I had a nice video card, I give the wobbly desk top another try. Right now it's running Xubuntu, running it very well I might add. If I knew Gimp, and a couple of other programs, I'd leave Window$ all together. Me, did you not see my other two posts?? No, sorry. I wanna leave here early bird, real freakin early. I wanna ride!!! |

Thanks for the input on the Linux guys. I am currently connected to you on my PC using the Fedora 9 distribution of Linux. I don't think I have ever seen this PC run so fast... I think I am going to change my laptop over as well... I just need to get all of my important data backed up first. Matt, those desktop animations were cool! Fedora has an option to turn those on, but I have not been able to get it to work yet. I may be missing a download for it or something. Ah, to be completely separated from Microsoft... it's like a dream! Well, except I am still stuck to Microsoft at work.... (Message edited by RATyson on July 26, 2008) |
