I have to replace my stator this week. Anyone done there's yet? Any tricks to it? |

Nothing to terribly hard ... just need a big breaker bar and a torque wrench that goes to 185 ft/lbs .... other than that no big deal .. I replaced the stator I think it was Paul's bike during Homecoming last year ... pretty straight forward... In fact I just got done pulling the entire primary assembly to replace the main oil seal.... (which is what you have to do to replace the stator) If you can still ride the bike you are welcome to come by the garage to do it .. might could offer a little assistance ... TO EVERYONE ELSE ... My apologies for not catching messages or not replying to e-mails ... I have been pretty busy myself ... both with my business and personal life ... Let's just say I still want 2008 to be over with .... |

Brian, Thanks for the info. I picked up the stator tonight and also some plywood to make a work table for the bike. I will post pictures later after the kids are in bed. Any idea what size the sockets were? I hope to tear it down tomorrow night. Sorry to hear that you are having a bad year already. |

When I go back out I will check socket sizes ... As for my year ... it just continued ... ... did a complete top end gasket set on my M2 (My good bike ... the stock, left alone other than a race kit, unabused bike) and main oil seal .. while the gaskets appear to be doing their job, I seem to have a major issue with the motor now ... motor sounds like metal is hitting everywhere ... Oh - also had to heli-coil a primary bolt hole .... I swear I am about to give up on any Harley motored bike and buy a 70's Honda to cafe out ... |

That sucks about the bikes. I have been missing a primary bolt for 2 years now. It needs to be heli-coiled. Also need to do one on my clutch cover. |

My $35 bike table and $35 HF wheel chock.... I can't compress the picture enough: http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/amking75/?ac tion=view¤t=IMG_5711.jpg Seems to work pretty good. It "should" be a 2 man job to get the bike up there. It WILL be a 2 man job to get it down. I got the idea from here: http://webusers.warwick.net/~u1002217/Bike%20Stand .htm (Message edited by kinger on May 09, 2008) |

Here you go, just imagelink the "direct address" from photobucket I thought some folks were going to aftermarket stators, accell or something like that. What other options are out there? |

Thanks Mike. I think eventually, I will add a volt meter of some sort. I would be interested in an after market part, but time is an issue. I leave next Friday morning for MI. |

This doesn't seem right but - 1 1/8" and 30 mm are the two sockets I used ... used them many times for this job .... And on the crank nut it isn't 185 ... it's more like 210 ft/lbs or 225 ft/lbs (I did mine to 210 ft/lbs I believe) ... the torque specs in the manual for the bikes aren't right .. the torque specs were changed later on .. |

Thanks Brian. I hope to start tear down tonight. As long as I can get the kids to bed........and the brakes back on my car.......why does everything go wrong at once.... |

Well .. last night I tore down my bike yet again ... and finally I don't feel like kicking it over or just pushing it in the garage and letting it roll and crash anymore.... She's all buttoned up ... running good again ... (and looking good again - since I have probably detailed over 60 bikes this year already - the urge to clean mine isn't there ... but with everything apart it made it easy ) I now like my M2 again ... now if I could just get the S1 back together ... Nice job on the photos from yesterday Steve ! |

Glad to hear that your bike is back together Brian! I wish mine was. Went out tonight to start putting things back together and didn't have any red locktite for the crank nut. So I drained the oil, then realized I didn't have any new oil to put in. Should have the primary back together tomorrow night. Then I need to install the Wileyco, and make sure I don't fire it up without oil in it... Steve, I look forward to pictures of your stand. The more interesting part about mine, was the "Don't try this at home", way that I got the bike up there by myself. Never again. I am actually thinking of cutting the stand down 6-8 inches. Working on the top part of the bike is a little tall for me. |

Tell you what ... you can take the one from my S1 (since it's in pieces anyway) ... pay me when one of the exposed spring shocks makes itself available at a reasonable price ... What do ya think ? |

That's a nice offer. I was going to try and get him to buy my M2 just to get a shock. |

That is a heck of an offer Brian. I will keep it in mind. I am watching a couple on ebay right now as well. Mikej - That would get me in a lot of trouble with the misses. That is exactly something she would expect me to do. |

Welllllll, I could provide an itemized list with all the components shown as separate items, then include a "disassembly" charge to show how much you saved by avoiding the disassembly service. Yes, I also get myself into trouble on a regular basis. |

Tat - I got a shock for a decent price off of ebay this week. Thanks for the offer. Mikej - Sorry I won't need that disassembled M2 after all. Rdmwc - That sucks about losing your license. Was it the speed that did it, or the number of tickets? |

Rdmwc (Royce) - Sorry for the delayed response...Yes, I have an 1125R and I now have 605 miles on it after the track day this past Tuesday at Road America. Curious to know more about your license situation. In WI I believe the rule is 12 points in 12 months and you lose your license for 2 months. You must have some additional violations I assume? I do have a couple of suggestions for you: 1. you can usually take a motorcycle safety course and this will reduce your points 2. you can also contact a traffic attorney (which I recently had to do with my 1125R) and they can usually get your points lowered and in some cases (like mine) completely removed. This option costs some $$$$ however. The violation fees are usually doubled and you have to pay the lawyer for his time... Other than that, congrats on the purchase, it is truly an awesome machine as you know. I am always up for a ride and my week nights are usually better than the weekends. Send me a PM with your contact info and let's plan to introduce you to some of the other Buellers here in the Milwaukee area. |

Hey Royce...Good ride today, eh? A slice of "Dave's ride" in the KM plus some puddle jumping in Jefferson County. I agree the gravel in the corners was a bit of a drag. But overall not bad. Next time we'll have to get a few more of our friends here to go along! |

Hey Royce and Tim, sorry I was not able to join you guys on Saturday (thanks to you both for the e-mails). I was jammed up all day getting the house and yard ready for family coming over yesterday. It sounds like you guys had a great ride... Is a ride during the week (after work) an option for you guys? I can't believe how jammed up my weekends are this summer... Let me know what you think. |
