Well, another biker rally is over. Lynn and I try to attend Red River due to the fact it is a tradition to hang out with some of our riding friends that we do not get to see often. The trip started on Friday and was uneventful until Laveta Pass where we got cold and wet and snow was falling. The last 50 miles we experienced rain, sleet, hail and more snow. It got so bad that my face shield froze over and I was doing 30 miles an hour until I could pull over in a gas station just North of Questa NM. I wish I was able to take pictures but that was the last thing on my mind. The next day, Saturday, Lynn, Mark, Annie and I headed to Santa Fe HD/Buell with a little warmer temps and we took the high road through the mountains and took the river road on the return trip.
We did a little shopping in Santa Fe and I picked up a really cool Buell jacket. On Sunday we decided to head into Red River, we stayed in Taos this year, just to ride the loop and my HD riding friends wanted T shirts.
After riding the loop and dealing with the traffic we headed home and I felt obligated to stop by the gas station that provided shelter from the elements on the way there.
We made it home safe and sound and said goodbye to our friends that still had another 100 miles to go up North.
A good time. I only put 800 miles on the S2 during this trip but the more I ride it the more I love it. I saw very few Buells, some Ulys a S1 a couple of XB12Rs and a M2. Frank |
