Saw another Buell today. I rode up to my Mom's house in Williamsburg County this morning, was coming back via highway 52 through the little town of Bonneau, saw a guy on a black XB12R with red wheels and windshield headed towards the lake/beach there. Badwebber by any chance? |

I did as Erik Buell instructed. I took ownership of the corners and now I need new toe sliders. Knee sliders still have a few sweepers left. |

Nice Xblaw. Where were you so lucky to do that? Did you take a road trip? |

Xblaw does not need to take a road trip to drag his knee/boot. He just rides the offramps in Charleston over and over and over. Don't try to keep up with him. He's pretty quick. Jeff |

Ha. I wish I went on a road trip. I definitely have a right side wear bias on the boots and tires. Not to say the left sides aren't abused. I have only found a handful of places in Chucktown where I can get the left side down to the sidewall. Jeff, your skids are still sitting in my garage and I still have your gloveliners. We need to get up and do a ride so I can return them to you. |

Thats cool. Thats about all I ride is the ramps. Not to the knee down point but am starting to drag the edges of the shoes on the road though. I want to get to that point but dont have the pants with knee pucks to drag. I dont want to tear up a knee or leathers unless necessary. I will just keep practicing and working on the strip |

Buellkat, have you run the 1/4 with the 9s yet? What kind of times are you getting? |

Xblaw, I'm out of town for a while. I think that we discussed this trip on our way to March Badness. I'll get up with you when I get back. I'm looking forward to a ride on a nice Charleston day. Jeff |

Naw Xblaw Draging isnt that fun in my opinion, cornering is WAY better. I was talking about eating away at the little strip on the outer sides of my tires around the ramps in Columbia. I just got to hit the right ones cause the ones I run daily I end up at interstate speeds through them and still not low enough. I do know of a few but they arent ok to run them during rush hour traffic. Sorry no 1/4 mile runs for me and my bikes. |

I gotcha now. Drag racing is a blast dude. That is what I used to do before I got my Buell. Granted Buells are not the fastest 1/4 mile missiles, they are still fun. I will agree that dropping a knee is a lot more fun, especially on a Buell. That is the main reason I got a Buell, the cornering agility. The trick to utilizing the off ramps is early mornings on weekends. If you hit the cloverleaf, do a pass on it to make sure it is clean... then have at it. My bike has no lines left and the directional arrows on the sides of the Pilot Powers are gone. That was not done on the ramps though, that is the work of the Appalachians. |

Yeah Ive had my Kat in the mountains and just eaten up tires which was completely awesome. Now that Ive got the buell im just going to practice around town until I get that LONG awaited trip to the mountains to play with it since I missed the March event. Im already planning on saving days for the october event!!! Anyway I need to get to Deals Gap so I can enjoy the road and get some pics of me and the bike on the road which is pretty neat!! I guess the drag racing is just a personal preference. It probably is fun but anybody can go fast in a straight line. I think its quite funny to tear up a guy driving a busa on the on-ramp and he gets mad and just leaves me on the interstate, once again the straight line thing!! |

Totally agreed. Charleston has the gayest bikers I have ever seen. Every sport bike has a lengthened swingarm and all of their tires are flat down the middle. I mean every bike has a lengthened swing arm. No offense, but the Katana is not a very quick bike, no need for a longer wheelbase at all (any 600 for that matter), and over half of the ones I have seen here have lengthened swingarms. I even saw a Ninja 500 with a 5" stretch on it the other day. I almost wrecked I was laughing so hard. I drive like a you know what when I am around those guys. Nothing beats laying down on the inside of the ramp and blasting their unlaced Nikes off. Hopefully, I will get to meet you before Buelltoberfest. But if not, looking forward to doing some riding then. Maybe we can get a crew together for a summer ride in the twisties. (Message edited by xblaw on April 29, 2008) |

I dont know if ive met you xblaw. dont think i have. but i have ridden down your way with some of the scbr guys like hugh, matt, nick, and jeff to name a few. Yeah i hope to meet ya too. im hoping we get to ride this summer upstate like hugh had hoped to get together and do sometime this summer. Im all up for it. Hey no offense taken on the comment bout the kat. I bought it for the sporty feel, and more comfortable ride. It was my first bought bike and the second one i rode. Plus i was 21 when i bought it and full coverage insurance was going to kill me on an all out jap bike which was what i wanted at the time, but im hooked on the buells now. Not getting rid of kat just yet. Ive gotten a lot of use out of it and am hoping for many more miles before I look at something else. Anyways hope to meet up with everyone soon. Buelltoberfest is really new if i remember correctly. This year is only the 2nd or 3rd year of it. All i know is its at the same place as march badness, and hopefully the weather will be a lot better. Still a ways off. First weekend of October. |

Neverenuf- We've talked about trying to have an SC Buellers gathering somewhere around Greenville for a while. I know there are at least 2 awesome roads in your area (276 up to Caesar's Head and 178 a few miles west of there); I imagine you know of others. If I can EVER get a free weekend, I'd love to ride up and I think some of the other guys down here would too. |

ran into another badwebber up above pickens today. he doesn't get on here to much, but he goes to clemson. he was at suches though for march badness. if you guys do come up, we might be able to find a few more, cause i guess a couple of his friends have got buells also. i'd really look forward to a good group ride up here. the once a month ride out of lakeland fl was always pretty nice considering it was florida. i've been on rides with as many as 16 bikes(most but not all buells) |

Got back yesterday from a four-day, 900-mile trip to Suches and adjacent states showing some symmetry - 300 miles there, 300 miles of mountain roads and 300 miles back home. The weather was perfect (got down to 31 when we awoke Wednesday) the traffic thin and the Uly was flawless. After getting no better than 35 mpg around town at home and on the interstate, and having to hear all about the 55 mpg my riding buddy gets every fill-up on his '07 Tiger, the highlight of the trip for me was finally getting 40+ mpg. After a day of Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway and Hwys 68 and 60 back to Suches, I got 155 miles on 3.4 gallons of REGULAR!

A nice and reasonably- priced place to eat lunch is the Lodge at Amicalola Falls State Park on Hwy 52, 17 miles west of Dahlonega. Check out the view while you eat!

There is also a new motorcycle shop called Black Mountain Cycles, a few miles away on Hwy 19 just north of Dahlonega that has a separate shop that specializes in tires.

Well....... I no longer hate the roads that Chucktown has to offer. Now that Charleston has a road course, I find that I enjoy my riding time much better. No really, I found a little hidden gem... somewhere. If you wanna ride it some time let me know. The other dudes out there have been riding there since October. I went out there for the first time today and tied their best rider's lap time. There were some stunter guys out there too and they were very impressed by the Buell's uncanny ability to walk on the rear tire with such ease and finesse. LOL |

Hmmm. Well isnt that nice. I wonder when they will take up the track and develop it into a neighborhood? Looks like a housing project that never got off the ground good, but I may be wrong. At least the asphalt is in really good condition from the pics. |

When I was at TWO last week, GT mentioned that in addition to the Buell Octoberfest, KTM will have a gathering about the same time and offer demo rides on some of their bikes. Anyone else heard of this? Maybe the new 700 Adventure will here by then! |

the friend of chris gants that took us up through nc had the ktm 950 and i was pretty impressed at how well he took the corners on it. his other buddy at an aprilla that was farely old and had to turn around because of charging problems. he said the only thing he hates about them is customer service is really bad. |
