Counting down the days for Buelltoberfest. Maybe the weather will be better then. What is the traffic like then with the leaves changing? Also seems like there could be leaf litter on the road surface. |

Xblaw - last year was beautiful. Here is a link to a few pictures. There was a festival at the school by T.W.O. but traffic was pretty light. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=37&post=988366#POST988366 |

Dang Guell, sorry to hear that. I was looking at the Weather Channel today and it looked like there was a big clear spot around Suches. Wish we could have hung around another few days. |

Sorry to hear that Matt. It just makes me sick to think of what would have happened if you were on your bike. The street is a scary place for a motorcyclist. |

Hope she's got good insurance Matt. You sure you're feeling OK? I'm also glad you weren't on the bike. A guy I know who was riding to work on his bike found himself under a Buick last week on I-26. He's still with us, barely. Anyway, looking forward to the October Rally even though the Weather Channel long range forecast shows just a 20% chance of precip that weekend. |

I think getting rear-ended is about the scariest prospect for riding a motorcycle; we're just sitting ducks with the way a lot of morons drive. Like the MSF guys say, always plan your "escape route" as you're approaching a stop, WATCH your mirrors while you're sitting there, and leave the bike in gear so you can move instantly if necessary. I'm guilty about not doing this religiously but this is a good reminder to start thinking about it again. BTW, I almost got rear-ended (in my truck) yesterday when I stopped at a green light to let a traffic cop on a Harley (with lights and siren on) go through the intersection to a wreck that was already in the middle of the intersection! Girl in the Jeep behind me was evidently concentrating on the light and not me and almost tagged me. |

I hear you Hugh. Did anybody see the traffic cam video clip from China posted in the Face Plant section of the Adv Rider forum a couple of months ago? (warning: not for the faint of heart) It got me seriously staring in my rear view every time I slow down. |

Hey guys, sorry to hear about all that negative news. I hope you are feeling well guell. I know what its like with the rear end impact in a vehicle feels like. Just take care of yourself and dont sign anything until you know you feel better b/c right after i signed papers for mine, my back started hurting conveniently. Anyway i hope the weather stays clear this afternoon as it is now for the ride home. OH and watch those MIRRORS!!!! |

Thanks Eryc, Jim, Hugh, and Darren. I feel fine. Just spent a while dealing with the insurance companies, funny how their departments all claim to have different working hours and no one says the same hours? So, now im debating blowing off work and going out on the m2. descisions descisions... |

Oh yeah Guell, if this is your first dealing with an accident, and if you have the police report showing that it was not your fault, then hold on to it and make copies for your files so you will be able to prove it wasnt your fault especially when you need to add a vehicle to your insurance. The insurance companies always give me a fit when adding my bikes b/c my record shows a "fault" on my driving record and they want to charge more for insurance even though the wreck was not my fault. Just a little bit more info for you if you have not had to deal with this kind of thing before. |

Decided to ride my kat to work today. OH and guess what, the weather mans 20% chance of rain turned out to be about 90% raining. Well i guess i get to practice my skills out in the rain. thats just my luck, especially when they called for more rain earlier in the week it didnt do anything and i drove my car. OH WELL!!! |

Scbuellkat, I rode to work yesterday. Got released from jury duty about 11 AM; not a cloud in the sky and ~75 degrees F. No traffic so I had a nice ride into work. Left work to go to a meeting at 3:30 PM; menacing clouds and a few rain drops. Sat in meeting for an hour; clouds looking worse all the time and wind steadily picking up. Hopped on bike, traffic is a CF in all directions. Got ~1 mile down the road and the rain started coming. Pulled into a strip mall and donned rain gear. ~1.5 hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic in the rain to get home. I REALLY want to live in the mountains... |

Anyone know who the photographer at MBV is and does he have a website? I talked with him for a few minutes on Friday but forgot to ask. He had some very good pics of some of the guys there. |

Well Hughlysses my ride was a bit better than yours was. No precip on my head except for the tire mist from the other vehicles. I did keep watching the radar through the afternoon though. I did however get a pretty cold face since I didn't think the temp was suppose to drop that much through the day. I think it was about 10-15 degrees warmer this morning at 5:20 when I left the house to go to work. Oh well I'm home in the cozy house now! Oh yeah I would love to be in the mountains too!!! The guy I'm talking about was a pro taking pics of the riders on the side of the road in the curves. He had a lot of bike pics of guys at MBV and was selling them. |

Starting to look like I won't have a free weekend until the middle of May, but that might be a good time to do it. BTW, I saw the aftermath of a motorcycle crash on Bacon's Bridge Road in Summerville yesterday near the Blockbuster Video. Looked like an almost new Kawasaki KLR650 with bent front wheel and forks parked in the bank driveway next door, 2 firetrucks, ambulance, and police on the scene. This was about noon. Hope the guy's OK. |
