Jeff,

It may not be a clutch problem. Try loosening all the primary cover bolts, wiggle the shifter shaft, and then re-tighten. (You're on your own as far as catching the primary oil.) Sometimes the primary cover gets slightly mis-aligned during installation which causes the shifter shaft to bind, making shifting difficult.

Talk about everyone having issues at the last minute. my wifes car (the only one) is having clutch issues, its dragging when engaged, making it difficult to shift. I have to adjust that tonight so it won't be a problem for her, dang hydraulic clutches, have to make everything so difficult. Tonight I'm going to be busy getting ready, packing, finishing up things before I go. tomorrow I have a few things that MUST be done at work before I go, it should only take a few hours, if everything goes right and people leave me alone.

can't wait for this, I need to get away for a weekend, hoping for a great weekend tearing it up around suches.

My medium height dark tinted Parabellum arrived today and I've almost got it mounted. Had a question about the turnbuckle crossbar struts since the ones supplied were longer than the ones pictured in the instructions. Charlie in Dahlonega said they have been using two different lengths and will ship me the shorter ones. Oh, yes got a call this afternoon from LC HD/Buell. They were calling their Uly customers trying to find out who sent them a clutch wire form support (the old one). The return address was LCHD/Buell, also. Ok, who's the joker?

Well I'm just about ready. oh, how do you adjust self-adjusting hydraulic clutches??

The wife was concerned about the 80 lbs tent bag on my bike so she made me go buy a smaller 20 dollar tent at walmart, which weighs 5 lbs. my original tent is also larger than I thought, 20' x 13' , you can't even buy tents that large anymore.

So I'll be carrying one duffel bag and my backpack full of stuff.

Matt, I've got a tank bag you can borrow. It works on my S3 so it should work on your M2. I've got soft saddlebags too if you'd like to borrow those.

Man, what a day. Went to lunch early, picked up new wheel bearings on Daniel Island (Koyos); worked until ~4:45, ran over to Harbor Freight and bought a blind bearing puller kit and bearing driver set (another ~$50). Got home about 5:45. Put the new bearings in the freezer. Driving the first bearing out was a bitch! The second one came out much easier. Holes in wheel were slightly corroded; cleaned them up with Scotch-brite pad and applied a thin coating of grease. New bearings tapped in place with no issues. Took about 15 minutes to get the rear wheel installed. Took the bike for a quick ride, everything's good. MAN does that Pirelli on the rear feel better than the Continental that Jlnance had given me back at Thanksgiving. Gassed up, came back home, drained the oil. Cleaned off the drain plug- where's the damn O-ring?!!! Crap- can't find my O-ring stash, run to Advance, get an O-ring plus 2 spares. Install drain plug, screw on new filter, dump in 2.5 quarts of Mobil 1. Crank it up, no leaks. Reinstall chin fairing. OK, the bike is mechanically ready (man, it could use a wash, but it ain't gonna get it unless mother nature provides).

Still have to pack my bags, but I think I'll do that in the morning.

Matt, see you at 9 AM at Burger King. PM me if you want to borrow the bag(s).

Yes, I rode as far as Aiken with Hugh and Matt where we met Nick. I said adieu and rode on to Columbia to have lunch with my son and then back to Summervlle. That little 20% chance of precip two days ago is now at 70% for both today and tomorrow, and radar is showing the wetness is nigh upon them, followed by lows in the low 40's. Not that there is anything wrong with a little chilled H2O, but as a camper(they were staying in a cabin) I am forced to recall why the GS Rally was moved from the first weekend in April to the first weekend in May.

I know hugh and matt made it as far as Aiken, Albeit frozen. I made it home ok, despite the fact that my cords on the rear tire are showing (I'll post pics tomorrow!).

but despite the rain it was worth it!

I'm pretty sure they made it back ok, their fingers are problem frozen as to why they cannot operate a computer yet!

I'm here. We made it to Summerville about 6:45 PM. Matt's probably still shivering too badly to type- he was C-O-L-D. I did OK with the Widder heated vest but I wish I'd had my Widder gloves too. I'll post some pics later.

It was almost as cold here today. They postponed a charity ride for a paralyzed girl
who needs surgery until April 12th because the cold weather resulted in a low turnout.

Glad you thawed out Matt.

I'm ready for a group meet in the summer. Maybe we can try and organize something in northwest SC later this year. It'd be a little closer to us, there are plenty of great roads up there, and it'd be WARMER!

Jeff and I made it in last night at around 10:30.
Anyone want to file a class action lawsuit against the weatherchannel? . They ruined my weekend. Man they missed this weather prediction by like 200 miles, even the day before. The monsoon on Sat. sucked. Never in my life do I want to piddle around at T.W.O. for 6 hours again.
Sunday, we got one pass on the loop. Once we negotiated our way through the thick fog at molasses speed we got to finally have a little fun. Finally wore the arrows off of the side of my Pilot Powers. I have been needing some riding like this. It should have been 4 passes on Sat. not 1 on Sunday.
Oh well, cannot control the weather, at least I cannot. Now I am about to have fun washing the 12 lbs of sand/mud I collected on the Lightning and my leathers.

I always use the National Weather Service and Weather Underground. Still, the precip probability jumped from 40% to 70% overnight Friday. The low temps with the passage of the front were pretty spot on.
I don't mind being wet. I don't mind being cold. I do mind being wet and cold.

A lot of people I talked to had gotten there on Thursday or early Friday. Sounds like Friday was a very good day to ride. Saturday afternoon wasn't too bad, we made one round of the loop which was only moderately wet. Wolfpen Gap was mostly clear and we only encountered one car near the north end. Traffic on 129 south was pretty heavy. Leaving the rock pile 60 was pretty clear, but then we ran into some heavy fog approaching the Appalachian Trail about 4 PM. By the time we got to the Trail overlook visibility was about 10 feet max so we were crawling. After waiting an hour or so at TWO several of us rode to Dahlonega for supper and things were much better.

Best riding I had all weekend were the brief clear periods on highway 60. I managed to get my new rear Sync worn to the edges at least... I also got a little more confident riding in the wet; I had that Uly leaned over pretty far a couple of times Saturday and it stuck like glue.

Talk about the pirellies having excellent wet traction. while I felt the front come loose for a second I didn't have any issues. I would love to do the loop in dry, good conditions, maybe next year.

the only thing I would do different next year is a new pair of gloves. My jacket stayed dry and its a great wind breaker, my boots stayed dry, and warm, my pants I could care less about. but my hands were soaked and cold. I hear ya Jwnsc about being either wet or cold but not both.

showing cords

before I change the tire I feel the need to make a YouTube video about blowing the tire.

next weekend I'll be getting out the pressure washer again and doing a extensive cleaning. bike washing get together?

I guess the "Bad weather" bikers name came true for the weekend but sounds like the weather wasnt all that bad mainly because everyone had fun which is what it is all about!!! Drfudd if you make the video then give us a link.

Nick, you definitely got your money's worth out of that one. One thing about smokey burnout/blowouts, tires have been known to shred during this process, taking out taillights, fenders, belt drives, etc. with them.

I definitely want to go to Buelltoberfest. What do you guys think about trying to organize a weekend in the Greenville, SC/Brevard, NC area, maybe before the summer? There are a lot of good roads in that area. It'd be ~50 miles closer for us, and ~100 miles closer for most of the C3 folks.

Well the fairweather bikers are the ones you see on the weekends out there riding their bikes and toss the nose to the air when you try to be courteous and give "the wave". I personally haven't searched to see if they have an official site but I do know that the actual riders do exist.
