We should all try and meet and go for a ride at least once while we're there. I guess we're staying all over- I know some are camping, Guell and I are staying with the C3 bunch at a cabin west of Suches on highway 60, I guess some are staying in motels in Dahlonega? Any ideas for how to hook up? |

We should form a phone # list for those who are going to be at MBV. So if you are going, e-mail it to me. I will form a list and e-mail it back out to everyone. I think Sat. afternoon around 3 would be best. Anyone else have a better time they would prefer? Even if we cannot get a ride up (which is really the point) it would be nice to meet yall and put a face to the name. |

Xblaw, it's always fun to watch the weather closely a week ahead of time like this. You should post the report once a day from now through next Thursday and let's see how it changes. |

My observations are that weather reports are completely useless out past ~2 days. They'll change the predictions at least 7 times by next Friday. I go through this every time I get ready for a long M/C trip.... |

I agree to meet some where saturday, I suggest we all meet up at the C3 camp and do a ride from there. I don't know what will be a good time, like everyone else, it'll be wake, ride, ride some more, refuel & lunch, ride and ride some more, then get dinner and sleep, repeat. Hugh, Guell. I suggest meeting up by the highway some where, there is a McDonald's and a few gas stations up at exit 22 (US 1 & I-20) there isn't an easy way to get through Augusta, unless we bypass it completely(by going north) or take the highway. From there we can decide what is the best route. Things have been hell at work. I'll make extra sure to be not seen Friday so people don't bug me and I can get out at 11:30. Then I'll jump on my bike and I should be up there at noon, I hope. |

Nick, That pretty well sums up MBV activities, with the exception of signing up for test rides. I imagine there'll be a LONG wait for the 1125R's, which is the only thing I'd really like to try. Sounds like a good plan for meeting on Friday. Can you pinpoint a location on Google or similar? My work has been FUBAR for the last couple of weeks too. Hopefully things will calm down this coming week. Got to go home tonight and install new tires on the Uly; I picked up the tire changer at Harbor Freight earlier this week. I already have a homemade balancing stand (based on MCN article). |

Hugh, mind if I watch? Actually, I'd love to come over and give you a hand and learn about Uly tire changes and bearing inspections. Unfortunately, I have out-of town relatives who are visiting and insist on an oyster fix. After that both my Alma Maters are playing tonight in the NCAA Bball tournament. So wouldn't you rather wait until tomorrow when you can supervise and let me get my hands dirty? |

Hugh, as you requested:
As for bikes I wish to demo I want to try out the new XT if they have it. Also if they have it I wanna ride the CityX, just to see how the 9 engine feels. |

Hugh, how about this for a route:
start on 61 to 78 to US 1 (Aiken), then get on I-20 for 51 miles (an hours worth on the freeway is all I can take in one shot!) then get on 78 up to Athens to get on 129 to Gainesville where we get on 60 all the way to Suches. is the easiest and not so long route I can come up with, its 7 hours (4.5 from our meeting destination) usually it only takes me 2 hours rather than 2.5 hours from Charleston to here but I usually drive 5 over (at least) Unfortunately copying the URL doesn't work with the way I have the map setup |

Jwnsc, Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I have to be out of town today and tomorrow so I had to do as much as I could last night. Got the tire changer assembled (~10 minutes) with no problem. I've had the rear wheel off a couple of times so that was no problem. Getting the old tire off was easy enough but the changer doesn't do a very good job of gripping the Uly wheel. I think I can make it better for future changes though without much trouble. Getting the new tire on required the efforts of me, wife , AND son! (Note- the tire changer REALLY needs to be bolted down to concrete for ease of use.) Back wheel bearings felt somewhat "stiff", but that's exactly how they felt ~1200 miles ago. I did pop the seals off and there were no signs of moisture or rust and the grease was clean. I pushed a little more grease into them and put the seals back on. I had picked up an extra belt a few months back as my belt is showing significant cracking at ~8500 miles. I went ahead and changed that out and saved the old one as a spare. That wasn't too bad of a job but as stated elsewhere on this forum, a new belt is EXTREMELY tight, so it's better to carry a used belt as a spare for ease of roadside replacement. Unfortunately, that all took until ~10 PM last night (lots of wasted time looking for tools, spare wheel weights, etc.- I need to get better organized). I still have to put the rear fender and the belt guards on. The front tire will have to wait for one night this week. Nick- meeting place and route look good to me. Matt, OK with you? |

Hugh, I definitely should have come over, it sounds like you could have used my, ahem, mass, shall we say, and I would have learned a lot. Besides the service was lousy at the restaurant and Clemson blew a double digit lead. Oh well, Let me know when you get ready to do the front tire. |
