Well...no blood, nobody got hurt...just kidding, it was a great time. Small group (actually the way I like it, it's more personal) but a bunch of good folks. Sorry Cindy couldn't stick around...and where was Ramon!?!?!? But it was a good meet. We may need to change the day of the week though. The season is picking up, and we're only staffed for 2 salespeople on a Friday night. My typical days off are Wed/Thurs...but what night works best for folks? We close at 6 on M/T/W/Sa and at 4 on Sun, are only open till 8 on Thu/Fri...what do folks think? Should I come in on a "second Thursday" every month for a meet? Or should I lobby for a key so we can meet after we close on Fridays (so I'm not sticking my co-workers with a boatload of work while I "play Buell")? Anyway - it was great seeing a half-dozen show up on a last minute notice. I can't wait to see what this season brings!! |

It was great meeting those who showed up! Fridays and Mondays are good for me until softball season starts up, then I'm busy. I work at the dealership 'til 8pm on Wednesdays and 'til 6pm the other nights. I can always catch up on events using updates on BadWeb though. Smileyeye, I guess we dodged a bullet. Heck, the state trooper didn't try to chase us down I-70. I even gave him a chance by slowing down to 70 when he turned on his headlights. |

I thought when he flashed us we were done for. I slowed down when you did because I knew I wouldn't be able to outrun him. But in the back of my mind I was thinking about that joke: I don't have to outrun the hungry bear, I just have to outrun YOU! hehe Went out for a trip today, took the shorter version of my little route. Which reminds me, if you'll notice, I started a new thread and expect to see some new stuff on it very soon from all of you. Be seeing those of you who show up tomorrow for our little ride. Kinda like an inaugural ride for CABO isn't it? Well, depends on how many show up I suppose.

Hmmm.. Since nobody took notes.. I'll try to sum up, if I miss anything, someone chime in and remind me.. err.. us.. First off, it was a nice, relaxed kind of thing. We chatted a bit about .. well... oddly enough, Buells and what we're doing and have been doing with them. There was a bit of discussion about track days (ok, I did most of the talking about it and some of the options out there). We talked about trying to set up regular meetings (maybe sometime when we weren't taking Joe away from his job so much). There was talk about SportFest and the hope that all the folks in the area could make it there to show support for the brand and of course to hit the test rides, uh, skills riding test thingy.. etc. etc. etc.. We spoke about the possibility of setting up 'special' events of our own. Maybe even something with some 'dealer' support for us. There are changes afoot for the Buell dealer in Frederick, but I think it's only right to let Joe speak about that. We'd like to try and set up some rides, and slowly we're hoping to do that. As a matter of fact, the ride we set up that day (and three of us were there for) happened Last Sunday. Smiley1eye has reserved the story and will post it sometime soon. Hopefully. We really do want to 'spread the wealth' so to speak, but so far Frederick is the only dealer to open it's doors to us. Although I got the feeling that Baltimore (Marlinriders'shop) might be up for a few visits from us. Hopefully. Hmmm.. What else, there was a bunch of joking and laughing and we looked over the bikes in the store. Joe promises to open up the speed shop for us sometime soon and let us all gaze in wonder at the things Mike Shultz is up too as well as (maybe) a little information about what he can help us (the owners) with. Joe mentioned that we could probably get to use the 'Hog' room when they aren't there for our planning sessions (err. meetings) and then head out from there. Of course, we're already thinking that there will be rides to get to rides.. with the CABO area so large, it only makes sense that some of us will leave early AM's to make it to some rides. That of course means some of those rides may have to start a little later in the day (to give folks time to get to the 'starting point') .. Uh.. Not sure what else I've missed, but it's late and I'm tired, so I'm off to the rack.. Someone else that was there.. could you chime in and fill in what I missed? |

I'm still getting it worked out. Don't worry though, it'll all come out in time. Just trying to have the BIG picture included with it. Blublak did mention this during the meeting and it stuck in my head: the Race for Life. Charity event that donates proceeds but while we're doing something for others, we get about 4 days on the track! He has the details. Now, the reason it stuck in my head was this; racing motorcycles for life is kinda like fighting for peace, or f**king for virginity. Sorry, it's just the way my mind associates things.

Ok, for all the bloodthirsty story-pirates out there: Here's documentation of my latest misadventure. http://www.geocities.com/smiley1eye/ Don't blame me if the story sucks, I just report the news. Fair and unbiased. The file you want is called HIGH FIVE.

FIRST OFF.. Great Tale, can't wait to hear the addendum! Second.. My directions were fine, IF you were coming off of 95 (as you'd indicated you would be..) Third.. Uh.. Doppler Shift? I didn't hit it that hard, I don't ride 'THAT' fast on the street.. really I Don't.. think so.. And yeah, that Jardine does have a pretty bad ass sound when wound up don't it?.. I'm hoping you'll be painless when next we see each other.. Still.. at least you weren't with 'Red' when it happened.. that could have been.. Oh never mind.. |

Petter, "I don't ride 'THAT' fast on the street.." Riding behind you only that one time I will tell you that I seemed to be hitting the rev limiter on my poor little Uly quite a bit. Yep it was breathing pretty hard But, that's all good. Eric, OUCH, I read your story. That had to hurt, I know it did. I hope your first impact was something softer than "ass fault". There certainly still a lot of winter debris left on roads out were I live. Be careful! Peter: Thanks for the minutes! Sounds like I missed a great one. Laughing planning rides and talking about Buells. What could be better except riding! Joe: You will share said changes forthcoming. I'm still in Texas this weekend but hopefully soon I can join in on the fun. |

Great story, I've so been in that same situation X2, my bike faired better than I did though (the second time). I can't believe that military health care has gotten so - I knew Tricare was a bad idea. What about a profile for PT? TN should have at least seen you to rule out a fracture. When I was in we were seen that day. I may have had to wait all day, but I would have been seen. Unbelievable. Pete doesn't ride that fast on the street, he's relatively responsible right? Although I haven't been out with him on the 1125 yet...Pete? |

2Kdx and me were traveling from Summit Point to central Maryland on I-70 on a Sunday evening and never dipped below 100mph. I looked down a few times to see 120. Luckily, not a single cop was seen for I believe, at those speeds, they automatically take your license. |

The latest and greatest is out. Take this link for the other link. (It's like an Internet-scavenger-hunt!) http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/681 7/320673.html?1209087582 You'll want to read Part 2. I even stuck in a few pics this time.

Eric, I met you at the HD-store when we were both getting the 1,000 miles service, I picked up the Uly and you were dropping your XB off. I'm glad you came out of your crash ok. I read your stories and I was wondering if I could use a part of your story as a crash scenario for Motorcycle safety classes. Oh yeah and if you want to practice going around MSF cones on your bike for your monthly ERC I could help K |

Kathleen, I remember you from the store. The stories are public domain as far as I'm concerned. Sure, I'd go around a few cones. "They're just CONES!" hehe |

Just a hello from Herndon, VA. I didn't realize there was a DC/MD/VA group 'till I ran across it this morning. Frederick isn't that far away from me. What does CABO stand for? How does someone become a member? Thanks in advance for info. Rock on Buell! |

Search is a great thing when I use it. Found out what CABO is. I'm a 1125r owner from NorVa in Herndon. I'm interested in learning more about the group and possibly becoming a member. Thanks in advance for info. Mike |

I think you're now a member! Basically, we're trying to build some goodwill, awareness, and interest to pull some Buellers together on any given weekend (or weeknight meeting) - frankly, I think the weekend meeting is smarter. The idea is...keep in touch: drop a line if you're headed out and see if anyone else wants to come along; pass along your favorite roads (I work in Reston, so I'm all about trips starting from around your neck of the woods); provide advice and answers; and give us all a kick in the butt to make this "club" a REAL club! |

Kool, if you say I'm in then it's a go. How many members are there in "our" area? Are there club meetings and that sort of thing? Thanks again for any info. Rock On Buell! |

Welcome, Usmoto! I don't know for sure how many members there are in the CABO group. We are spread out all the way from the frederick area over to the Baltimore area, northern Va. and a few of us on the south side of DC and southern MD. Quite an area. We were having monthly meetings the first Saturdays (1000 am)at Ft. Washington HD/no longer Buell, but we decided to start meeting at various Buell friendly dealers . April 4th is supposed to be at Frederick Buell. Hope to see you at upcoming meetings. Brian |
