Nick, No worries about RIDING in the cold, just make sure you've got good sleeping bags, etc. for sleeping. I know a few guys from NC that were pretty miserable at MBII when they had to camp out Sunday night and temps dropped to sub-freezing with a stiff wind. Fortunately I was snug in my cheap motel room in Dahlonega that night! Glad to hear your wife likes the twisties; she'll definitely enjoy her drive in N GA. ~29 days and counting.... |

Nick, if your wife drives, she will be in serious twisties starting about 15 miles east of Suches on highway 60. Make sure she's OK with that kind of driving. Hugh isn't kidding about the roads. My first time driving them was also my first trailering experience. I was real proud of myself until I hit 60...then came the OMG....breathe...stay in my lane....breathe...stay in my lane. Remind her that when safe and possible, pull right and let the bikes pass. You're gonna have a great time at MBV and if you're like the rest of us, you'll go home and start planning for Buelltoberfest! |

Okay Eryc, Consider me in. I'll take the remaining spot in your cabin. I'll hit you up for the details later. Just remember, there will be a trailer involved. I'm not riding that X1 from Charleston to Suches. It sounds like fun. Jeff |

Wow, we should have a pretty good SC contingent. Maybe we should book our own cabin for Buelltoberfest or next March Badness like the C3 gang does. It's nice to have a central hangout like they do. |

I think we should start a gang and beat on some metric riders. In the twisties of course. HAHA . Hugh, the cabin is a good idea. I second the motion. |

Eryc, Give me a call so I can find out when we are leaving for March Badness and so I can put in for vacation at work if needed. I need to know the location of the cabin. A friend of mine may meet us there on his Hardley Abelson. The engine in my truck sh*t the bed in Florida this weekend and I had to have it towed back to Charleston. That was a fun ride. So I could not tow my bike anywhere even if I wanted to. You're right, I do need therapy. Jeff |

Dude, that's what rain gear is for! Of course the way it's raining down here today, scuba gear might be more appropriate.... |

Hello, everybody, Jim here. Hugh directed me to this forum from the Ulysses forum. Just picked up a black,'08 Ulysses after riding Beemers for the last 14 years. I live in Summerville and most of riding has been trips to the mountains or across country to rallies, camping along the way. My next one is probably to T.W.O. during the N. Ga. Mtn. Rally in May. |

Welcome to the group Jim (Jwnsc) and looking at your Bio, you win the speed thing hands down if you sky dived on a bicycle. |

Jim, You may not know, but there's a big Buell meet at T.W.O. later this month, "March Badness V". Read more here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/318457.html?1205071463 The Buell test ride bikes will be there and you can try out all their bike models on the test route on highway 60. I've been twice before and it's a great gathering. Guell and I are riding up from Summerville on Friday March 28, probably via Aiken so we can meet up with Drfudd. |

Welcome Jim, how many of you are in the Summerville area now? turning into a large group out there. Hugh, were do we want to meet at? a page back Eryc and Jeff said they were meeting in Augusta Friday with some other Harley riders. I plan on taking half a day that Friday So I'll be ready after noon. Question anybody buy or use an electric pressure washer? I was thinking about getting one for a hundred bucks, clean my deck and my house (and bike) with it. think it'll be worth it? |

Nick, I'm figuring on leaving here fairly early Friday morning so meeting around noon in the Aiken area should work out OK for us. I think Matt's planning on taking the whole day off too. I'm sure you know Aiken better than I do. We could just do something like meet at the first rest area in Georgia off of I-20. That's a good breaking place on the trip from here. Or maybe you know of a good place we could meet for lunch around Aiken. We probably need to leave Aiken as early as you can manage. It's a pretty long haul up to T.W.O. and you don't want to be riding those twisties for the first time in the dark. I don't have much experience with power washers, but if you use one on your bike, be careful around the wheel bearings. You can force water past the seals which will lead to rapid bearing failure. |

Thanks, everyone. I'll keep the March Badness weekend in mind. Is it any drier at T.W.O. in March? The first week in May is usually pretty wet. |

Last year at MBIV, it was dry Friday and Saturday but rained all day Sunday. Seems like the iffiest thing for late March is the temp; it can be anywhere from freezing to the low 80's. |

hopefully it doesn't rain and it ain't too cold, although I have been caught in the rain a few times and its always not as bad as I think it will be. I'll have to find a place to meet up some where around here. which route do you guys want to start up there on. 17 or 28 or something else? |

Nick, I think I've tried 17 and 28 and there doesn't seem to be much difference in time/distance/difficulty/scenery. Here's the route via 17: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=1030 4949540348004293,33.751740,-82.720010%3B3242824222 391362041,33.810150,-82.762490%3B83717575380963793 30,34.090150,-82.836920%3B12689197574623869771,34. 447930,-83.134570&saddr=Aiken,+SC&daddr=Danburg+Rd %2FGA-44+%4033.751740,+-82.720010+to:GA-17+%4033.8 10150,+-82.762490+to:GA-72+%4034.090150,+-82.83692 0+to:GA-17+%4034.447930,+-83.134570+to:suches,+ga& sll=34.491278,-83.472748&sspn=0.494632,1.082153&ie =UTF8&z=9 The hard part (for me at least) is when you get up around Toccoa you have to make several turns onto different roads, and I seem to always miss one trying to look down at a map taped to my gas tank while not getting run over. You can kind of see what I mean here: http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Toccoa,+GA&geoco de=&dirflg=&daddr=suches,+ga&f=d&sll=34.57963,-83. 33315&sspn=0.123527,0.270538&ie=UTF8&z=11 It's pretty much a straight shot until Toccoa; after that there seems to be 20 possible routes all of which are non-direct. A GPCS would probably be a big help. |

Yeah I was looking at that above toccoa for a while now, there is no good route, its alot of turns on roads where there probably isn't very good signs pointing it out. Hugh, Guell, which way you taking to get up this way, highways or 61/78/278 |

Hey Summerville Buellers, do any of you happen to have a tire changer? I'm about to get a new set of Pirelli Scorpion Syncs for my Uly. Charlie had sold me on the idea of going to Cycle Gear, but when I couldn't get anyone to wait on me there last week I'm having second thoughts. Ron Ayers is having a sale right now and I've always had good luck ordering stuff from them. I've changed tires with tire irons before but that was a royal PITA when I did it on the rear tire on my Uly last time. Maybe I just need to go ahead and buy my own tire changer at Harbor Freight. |

drfudd, the electric ones are what they are. there inexspensive and aren't that powerful but they used one on the tampa train station when they were retucking the grout on the red brick and it held up with constant use. my son borrowed his girlfriends to use it on the house and it did a decent job. if that's all you want to spend on one then get it and don't expect anything great. |
