Well, change of plans. My wife is no longer coming to Tally as her sister went into labor about an hour ago. So I will be in a tent solo. Also, I dont have a phone so everyone pray my leaking radiator makes it there and back. |

Hey- Yeah, I'm doing fine. Both ankles are sprained, the right one is chipped, I re-broke ribbs from the last crash, but they don't really hurt, and the piece that does is the 2 out of 4 ligiments in my right knee that are torn.. The guy tried to cut a left through 3 lanes of traffic in front of me, with 1.5 car lengths seperating me from the car i was following. It gave me almost enough time to pres the brakes, but enough to jump off the pegs.. I was inverted heading into the ground when I threw my arms out to roll.. Must have snapped it then, and then slid to a stop in the center of the road. The guy in the car was smiling the entire time the paramedics were trying to put me on the stretcher, and cut my jacket away, all in the 37 degree rain. I have a team of lawyers on him now. His life just ended. |

Hehe- I'm all over the place on bikes- I may go after the new 08 Ss, as the colors are cool, and it fits. Can you adapt the lugage to the Ss? And don't worry- Only the good die young, so I should be around for quite some time.. |

Tally was AWESOME. We woke up to a balmy 26 degrees with ice on our seats and tires, but it warmed up pretty quickly. I had a great time and only crashed a little bit. I ran off the end of one of the straights and fell over in the mud. Oops! The gixxer felt amazing. It really inspired confidence, and I got totally relaxed on it dragging my knees around by the end of the day. It's scary how much more lean angle that bike has left in it. Even with my knee down, I still had pretty sizable chicken strips. Now I need to actually work on pulling my knee back closer to the bike and carrying more speed into the corners. Thanks, Mike, for hauling all my crap around and giving me someplace slightly less cold to sleep. I know it wasn't nearly as bad as you had it back in 'nam, but it was still pretty cold to me! |

When looking at leathers, what things should I be looking for in terms of leather thickness, zipper type, and armor types ? I am looking at some leathers on topgearleathers.com and want to make sure I am getting something worthwhile. Here are the specs of one set I am looking at: 1.4-1.5mm thick drum dyed top-grain cowhide leather for excellent abrasion resistance Removable CE approved armor at knees, shoulders, and elbows. Removable high density spine protector Chest padding uses memory foam technology borrowed from back protectors Pre-curved sleeves for proper riding position Dual stitched main seams for excellent tear resistance Nylon stitching Reflective kevlar patches with 3M Scotchlight technology over chest padding, back, and upper arms for high visibility at night. Zippered vents at armpits and on the back to keep the rider cool Schoeller Keprotec with Dupont Kevlar(R) at crotch, on inner arms, and behind the knees for perfect fit and ease of movement Genuine YKK zippers throughout Full circumferential zipper at waist allows the jacket to be removed from pants and makes the suit legal on all race tracks Non-removable hip pads Leather stretch panels on shoulders, at lower back, and above the knees Mesh lining Velcroes for attaching knee pucks are sewn on Lightly padded race style collar Does that sound like a good set to you?} |

Those sound pretty good Rus! Tally was fun again!! I have been ruined forever on the track as I was spoiled with all the power of a Gixxer 750! The uly handled very well, but hanging off and dragging a a knee made me feel like I was riding a bike with ape hangars! We got some good shots of the knee down on her, wore through the left peg feeler and peg...OOPS. I started to get better on it by the end of the day but never had the same confidence as the bolt. Long of the short, Uly= great street bike, not really a track bike, at all. Now the bad news about the Uly, I think something broke. I ended up putting her away with two sessions left as she started to vibrate really badly at idle and then started to shake really badly all through the revs. The exhaust note sounded really funny, the timing cover rattled loose eventually as well. This bike is not my firebolt! Lyndall Gold pads suck, I almost rode straight off turn two trying to scrub off speed, Coming down from 110 ish. I ended up using the rear brakes so I could come in nice and deep without hitting the brakes 20 yards before the brake markers. more later Hayden needs me!! Matt i need some pics!! |

I am looking for a 2 piece. I have a one piece set, but they are VERY tight in the legular area. And not having any pockets doesn't work well for normal everyday street riding. I don't like riding with a backpack... I just don't feel balanced with one for some strange reason. However, I wouldn't mind hearing more details about yers. Yikes Charlie.. Hope the Uly isn't too bad off! One of these days I will make it to a Tally track day. (Message edited by ratyson on February 03, 2008) (Message edited by ratyson on February 03, 2008) |

Maybe one day I'll have my shit together and I'll be able to make it to the track with y'all. For now I guess I'll just live through your pictures.... Smokescreen, sorry I missed your call last night, my phone died, and by the time I got a little charge on it, it was pretty late. Good hanging out with you Stealth, it was a good time. Hopefully soon well see each other in a professional lighting! |

Glitch, we missed ya there too, I could have used someone to spoon at 7 am with 26 deg. f in the tent! We had Shred, Sanchez, and Jessica sleeping in the trailer, me in the tent. Now they had 2 heaters in the trailer and Shred had his lectric blanky. Once I used my heater in the tent the breaker on the generator would pop! So I got to get cold! But really it was cool, I got a really good sleeping bag! I will tell yall about the Gixxer and the Duc ride when I get home. (Message edited by new12r on February 04, 2008) |

So the other day I lost the only key I had to my Uly luggage. I left it in the latch, and it fell out on the street somewhere. When I called to find out about getting a replacement, I learned two things: 1) In order to get a replacement key, I need the 3 digit code from the old key. 2) When I bought my Uly, I was supposed to have gotten two keys and some paperwork with the code. So we had a bit of a quandary as to how I would ever get my luggage open again. I got a message from SMHD Friday, though, saying that Buell was just sending one copy of every possible key so we could try them all and find the right one! Now that's customer service. Thanks, SMHD! |
