WOW!! I think we can declare Buelltoberfest a success and the first of many to follow. The weather cooperated and the company was excellent! Had a chance to sit and visit with several BadWeBr's I'd met in the past and a chance to meet so many BadWeBr's that I've only "chatted" with on-line for either the RAN or the Matt Ware Auctions. Glad so many of you made it over to C3 Central for a little porch time. Now that you know where we "live" while in Suches, please come back during MBV. Thanks to Dirty Sanchez for the tach for the M2. Since I paid you off in cookies, I've told Carlos he now owes me if he wants the tach! Etennuly - Carlos was like a kid on Christmas when he got back from his Sunday loop. He just walked around the bike and stared at it with the permagrim so many of you Bueller's seem to have. He loves the look that the new chin faring gives the Uly. It's like he has a new bike all over again. I'm just thankful that new parts were an option this trip and not a necessity! A true act of Buell-kindness. Nevrenuf - hope you are feeling better as each day goes along. See you in March? Xbullet - good to see you up and out. Please take care of yourself and remember that the healing process is one day at a time. Do all that you can to help it along, but don't overdo it. For those of you who posted pictures, keep them coming. Guess we can now count down the days until MBV! Do we have a vote for Buelltoberfest II? |

Truly a great time! Who'd thunk BenGay??? Wholly crappers, Batman!! Sorry it cost you so much for us to learn that Nevrenuf! Mark, Brad, Jeremy Enjoyed the riding. Best camping I've seen in a long time. Perfect weather and party. And to the beer fairy, best batch ever! I don't know what was so funny but I haven't laughed that hard in years! Carlos, I'm thinking about having a warrant put out for your arrest, we have photographic evidence of you taking the purdy off my bike and replacing it with ugly. It's OK though I'll get out the purdy maker and have it healed up shortly. |

thanks to vern(etenuly) for a little help there and some other folks i got home with a little less pain. i am totally sorry to see that froggy went down behind me, especially when he had his camera in the bike with him. once again i should have listened to my first instinct and let him get ahead of me going up the hill. i just got stupid and pushed it to far. ft-bastard, who was the dealer that gave you the cold shoulder. |

I wish we could've stayed longer, but it wasn't in the cards. Had a great time and "The Loop" is a great ride (excepting the 1960ish Dodge truck that was dumping parts out the back and I thought the dog was going to jump at one time too.) G2 |

Brad,Squids86129, Sorry I bailed at the end like that. The bike never hit run/skip and was running fine so I hit the fast path for home. I was reaching the corner of nap time and total burnout. Thank you for making sure I was OK! |

I had a great time! Thanks to Ulywife for setting things up and to Mike for transportation. The cabin was beautiful. The porch time was a lot of fun. Those dag on roads make the 29 hr. round trip worth it! Glad everyone made it home safely. See you all at March Badness. |

Hey all you guys- WOW, what a weekend! I was sorely tempted to stay over Sunday nite and ride another full day down there around Suches- I decided that it'd be wise to ride back with my TN bros and get a full day back at the house before heading back in to work. (Not to mention that it just wouldn't be the same tearing up the roads without a group of Buells riding with me. What a rush!) Had a great ride back home- even got to chase down some Tennessee Rice on TN360 going home. Lots of fun passing those guys with my camping gear/junk piled on the back of the XB- hahaha!!! Good ride, East TN Sportbikers- let's fight for our rights and reclaim the Dragon from the TN Gestapo!!! We should <always> be so lucky to have the great weather of this past weekend! My goal next time is to take at least the better part of a full week to stay down there at TWO and really get some sightseeing/touristy riding done. (At the pace we were riding, mere survival depends on FULL attention to the road and rider actions ahead.) As a group I've not seen such a high level of skill in action in a long time. (We all get together to have fun- this depends on riding with care, holding back to 8 or 9/10ths of our full effort.) I am very glad that I got to ride with y'all- I feel very good about my track date later this month with the new beast. Wish me luck... Barker- I'm feelin ya on those Bott's Dots bumps. Nailed 5? I cringed Big time just hearing that one you tagged in GixxerKiller corner. Sparks are pretty, just don't hasten the day you'll need a new knee or a walking cane!! Fritz- thanks for correcting my mistakes in leading the group back from RR parkway. I thoroughly enjoyed following you and the <brisk> pace you set on the Firebolt. Kinda fun listening to the chain drive too. Jeremy- you can COOK it on that Uly!! Fastest beer run I've ever made, and the most fun evaaarrr!! We 3 Tennessee boys quite enjoyed the brewskis- thanks for facilitating the bartering process. (I kinda felt like I was a raider or something out there at the cabin.) Do tell which dealer gave you the cold shoulder- better not have been anyone I know. Sanchez- great pics!! We would all miss out on lots without the visual & historical records. I look forward to viewing more! Hopefully someday I'll be able to remember y'all's real names AND badweb aliases- looking forward to March Badness and this year's 25th Anniversary Homecoming (if I can make it to WI)!!!! Y'all keep the rubber side down and between the ditches (you too Nevrenuf!!) If any of y'all make it to Maryville/Knoxvegas TN gimme a shout!! Peace out (and in).... |

Brad, the bartering process was worth it to watch the look on the faces of a few "Yankee" boys. Froggy was the best. |

Hey guys, I'm checking in on my way home. I am at a waffle house in dumfries, va. I decided to skip blue ridge and am just crusing around on my trip back to NY. Thank you again everyone, I had a great time and I learned the limits of my bike the hard way . Thank you Ulywife for taking me in last second and thank you beer fairy for that "stuff in a clear jar". The pics look great Sanchez, I can't wait to see the rest. Thank you Mike for trailering me down, as I would never have made it in time otherwise. Nevrenuf, don't blame youself for my wreck, as I also should of obeyed my instints and backed off. Ill post more thanks and pics when I get home, see ya |

i found some very interesting, informative, and FUNNY reading at the Outpost. per Bill (Mr. William B. Miller), and i quote: "No Reproduction or Other Use Without Permission. (I'm a lawyer, so don't mess with me on this.)" well, since i'm giving him such great free publicity by publishing a photo of the cover of his interesting, informative, and FUNNY book, maybe he won't beat me up TOO badly if i share a little of his wit and wisdom with y'all: "Most [Suches] locals are friendly but a little suspicious. They actively love the mountains and worry a little about the intentions of gentrified visitors. Don't drive up in your Range Rover, ask directions, and comment that what this place really needs is a good golf course. Avoid mentioning the Sierra Club. Honor "No Trespassing" signs. Also, don't try to act like a local by going around saying things like "that dog won't hunt." For the most part, the locals are glad to have you here, as long as you go home. "Motorcyclists buzz around here like crazy on weekends, attracted by the winding roads. Highway 180 between Suches and Highway 19/129, also called Wolf Pen Gap Road, is purportedly the winding-est road in the state. Motorcyclists are loud but harmless, at least to others, mostly because they stay on the road and away from wilderness areas, and don't ride at night. If they're tailgating you, pull over and let them pass so they can get along with their fun." Bill's Guide to Suches, ladies and gentlemen. good reading. after we left TWO Sunday morning we strafed Wolf Pen Gap for our first time (great road!), then headed north toward Franklin, NC to visit a friend. on the way we stopped and paid our respects to Big Jim Bantz (father of JB2 here on BadWeB), who was killed on his motorcycle by a reckless teenager near Franklin back in 2002. maybe it seems kinda corny, but a shot of Big Jim's memorial cross with Matt Ware, Wolf Pen Gap and Dragon stickers (the last two earned just this morning) in the photo seemed fitting and appropriate. ride in peace, Big Jim Bantz. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on October 08, 2007) |
