Steve,

Glad to hear you were not hurt too bad from yesterdays's event.

Bikes can be replaced but people can't, if there is anything I can do to help out, please let me know.

Jim

Not only did I survive my "brisk" ride with Mike, but I even scraped a left side footpeg. It was in a very slow left hand corner that got even tighter as it went. I was praying that all of the mold release oil had already been scrubed off of my new tires when the peg touched down and it scared me so bad I almost high sided. I'm tempted to take a belt sander to the right peg then go on down to Taco Tuesday and start talkin' trash with the wanna-be-racers in their four color dayglow one piece leathers. I b coo !
Mike and Bob are SLUGS! They didn't drag pegs.

Thanks all for your support. Insurance guy just called. Bike totaled. But I can buy it for $783. Whattya all think? Part it out for maybe $1800? Fix it if I can find cheap plastic over the next few months? Kinda depends on frame and forks/tubes. Adjuster says he saw only cosmetic damage to frame and forks but that per Harley/Buell specs, they have to total it. Fixing would mean clearing a salvage title and turning it into a clean one in order to insure/sell it. I guess I'll wait to see what he "offers" as replacment price. I have a $500 deductible and the tow was $200.
Kept an ace bandage on the left wrist today and could drive my computer just fine with a little ergonomic adjustment. Bought some epsom salts for a sore butt soak later. I'd a took some photo's of my bruises, but figure they'd be "OVER-EXPOSED".

Life is good. I walked from a wreck that totaled my bike. Hopefully I learned a lesson.
RIDE YOUR RIDE. FORGET FOLLOWING YOUR LEADERS LINE OR SPEED. DON'T FIXATE ON THE GUY IN FRONT. LOOOOOOK THRU THAT CURVE AND YOU GOOOOO THRU THAT CURVE.
By the way Kim. Even if Buella aint fixed or in my future, my other bike shipped last week. It's Susan Wilson's Salt Flat Record-Breaking Blast with Aaron's karma all over it.
Might be here in time for the BRAG meeting tomorrow. If my wrist cant take it , I'll get Spudman to drive it.

Has anyone heard from Toyracer? The 'Fornians are wondering about the camping at Caspar, Frank was going to arrange that.

Is Shooter still around? He kept tabs on Frank.

Steve, Call a couple of bike werckers and see what they will give you for your compacted M2L. I made a few $$$ on my bike, more than enough to cover the deductable. Lots of people wad up Harley's so I'm sure your local dealer can put you in touch with someone that would buy your bike.

Shotgun,
When my M2 was down/wrecked/rear-ended (really hate to put it that way with Buellnuts poking around ;)) out west there, a couple of the guys at Eastside were eyeballing it for the engine and other parts. You might contact them or Barry (I think Barry is at the Issaquah shop now) and see if they have any interest.

Okay, I'll cut out of here now and get back to the cheeseland. :)

Steve- You are my hero, not only do you go down, but (butt hurts I know), you go to work and are actually talking about future rides. I love you man! I am so glad you weren't seriously hurt! Look forward to seeing you on your sporty new bike.

PS.... wasn't your plastic messed up before she went down? With those WWBD decals (that is DEECALS for you Canadians)? All jokes aside you are the man and I so glad you will be ok and actually riding soon!

Hugs & Kisses!

Wow Kim, thanks. You're the one I am proud of. -50 pounds (22.7 K for the Canooks) since the last time I saw you! Mike has one hot-lookin babe for a wife. Too bad you still got your old big cordura pants to ride in. Tell Mike if he don't buy you some new leathers, I might have to. Look at the new Joe Rocket one-piece race suit for $510.
After talking to Spudman and the insurance company today, I decided to buy Buella back at the salvage price. Progressive was decent with a $6251.00 price for my 2001 M2L with 13,000 miles. So I deduct my $500 deductible, $783.00 for Buella, and I get $4968.00 cash plus Buella. If the frame and front end are undamaged, I buy Spudman's used orange body work and use some of my original equipment leftovers to put her back together. If frame damaged, I sell the motor to Spudman who is still worried about the sound of his M2 since Splash oil pump gear fiasco last year and part out the rest. Who knows, maybe I give Spud the engine and send his to Nallin Bros for complete overhaul and Stage 2 treatment and still have $$$ to burn.
Going to BRAG tonite, see y'all there. I have photo's of crash scene.

It's off to the shop Thursday to see how much it's going to cost to get the Sprint back into shape. I know it's going to be more than my $500 deductible since just the parts alone are over $1k. I had a "physical claims damage analyst" --which is funny in and of itself since 'physical' is spelled incorrectly on his business card -- come by and look at it. Pretty decent guy. They may even be offering me "cosmetic allowance" for the scratches on the fork and bar-end since it's doubtful it's damaged any worse than that. Once again, the folks @ Portland Motorcycle were dickheads so Cascade Moto again getting my (insurance co's) business.
I'm shopping for deals on new rubber and am eyeing the Diablos although they're looking pretty spendy.
Steve, glad you're doing okay!
Oh, and what's this Splash thing all about, anyways?

Oh, and have I mentioned that since we're not getting additional help on the river this summer, the work bastards changed my days off to wed/thu/fri and hours to 6 to 1600??? There go the weekend rides. I am not pleased.
NO GLOATING!

Eric- where have you been? "What's this Splash thing all about, anyways?". It is only the coolest up coming ride that occurs over the weekend. Oh that is right you did mention something about working on the weekend didn't you. No I am not gloating, but, I will be going! And about 70 other people too!

Ok, so do you guys normally ride so fast that crashing is normal? I mean, I like to ride fast but having kissed the pavement once a few years ago I find myself slowing down when I am unsure of what is up ahead. I know my bike could go faster in the hands of a racer, but my most important goal is to come out the other end unscathed. This is no criticism of any one who has gone down due to exess speed, I well understand that happening, I just want to know if that is how your groups normally ride. I have found that if I ride with someone less cautious than I, then I tend to push myself past my comfort zone. One of the reasons I moved to a Buell from my Sportster is that I was pushing the limits of the hardware and felt it was holding me back. Now I am once again less skilled than my bike is capable of, which is a good thing as it leaves me room to grow.

Essjay- To my knowledge none of us go out and run hard until we crash. We as a group ride at speeds that are both fast and slow. Usually our group rides are divided into fast, medium and slow. Find your comfort level within the group and enjoy the ride. Chances of crashing do go up when you ride outside your skill level or as you put it as being less cautious. That being said crashing does suck. I hope you are not put off to come ride with us someday. Mike

Kim,
Uh, the Splash comment was me (trying) to be sardonic. :)
I do have the time off scheduled for that already. Just looks like the majority of my riding this season will be midweek and solo.
Ciao,
EG

Hey Shotgun,

Got your ride at my place, things don't look so bad. Loaded the bike on the trailer, cleaned a little dirt from the mouth of the carb, gave the key a turn and a push on the starter button, damn thing fires up instantly. The force is strong with this one. Ran it just long enough to have oil come squirting out a new hole in the side of the oil filter. A turn of the wrench and a few pieces from the Buell junk pile may have this beast tearing up the roads again.
Here are a few pics for the rest of the world. This was taken by shotgun at the scene, looking over the edge down about 20 feet is a rear tire hiding in the trees.
A view from above
A little closer look, boy Steve can park a motorcycle!
Who needs a kickstand!
Here is a right side view after it came up the hill.
Oh lady that hurts
Grabbed the bike from Jacks towing in Woodland. Took off the loose plastic for the trip home. A left side view of the damage on the trailer.
Wow, looks like a race bike now
Stopped at horseshoe lake for a few pics and there was something going on in our SPLASH party zone.
Horseshoe Lake park
A closer look reveals a carnival. Guess they got the dates wrong for SPLASH. Fur is gonna fly when Ferris finds out about this.
Pre-SPLASH party?

Shotgun - I so did not need to see that. You shouldn't even have an ass after sliding down those rocks!

Spudman - You should limit your picture posts to things that are "Dead Sexy" not "Could have been Dead Scary". Thank you for sharing and let me know what corner that is so I can go super duper duper slow. My ass is big but I don't want to shave it off that way!

Steve- again I am so glad you are ok.

Eric- SPLASH -oh that was a joke, LOL - Glad you have the time off. See you in a few weeks.
