Chad - Stretch, sorry I read this too late. Just got back from Alaska last Sunday, so am a bit behind. What about this coming week? What's it look like for you guys? It is WAY too quiet here. I'm changing the 9R and putting the Force race pipe on it. If I like it, can't see why I wouldn't, I may be selling one of the X1s. Clif |

Let's make it a point to post here at least once a week, even if we don't say anything. So far, it's been like totally intermittent. One guys posts for a while, then splits. Then someone shows up to take his place. Unreal. Just check in, and let everyone know you're alive. Whether you want to meet up or not. I mean, it's ok to make some small talk too. You can say like "Hey, Miami North store has got some cool looking Buell hats" or something to that effect too. You can drool over the 1125 R. You can complain about the people who try to run you over on your Buell, who never seem to do that to you on your Harley. Don't ask me why. Or , you can just say... But anything is better than silence.... Seriously. Stretch (Message edited by stretchman on September 03, 2007) |

I got something to say today. Had the bike out, and got my ass handed to me by a Sportster. Couldn't figure it out. It wouldn't get up faster than about 100, and I had to push it for it to make 110. Kind of pissed off about it. Buells will typically do about 140-145. I know, because I have had mine up to that fast. But today, something was horribly wrong. Don't know what to say. Miami HD has been the only people that I know of that have worked on it. Shouldn't be a dog like that. Why pay all this money for a sport bike, to get beat by everything that comes along, when it shouldn't be like that. Come on fellas. Either it's a Buell, or it ain't. And you wanted me to sell these things? Must be laughing your asses off at me. Ok with me. Want my money? Fix my bike. Or else. Stretch |

Yeah, I might make Fudds. I am still wondering why the bike has no pick up. Only a little more than 1000 miles on it. Talked to other people. Their bikes easily do 140. Mine is pushing it to get to 110. Maybe bad gas, or a fouled plug. But I didn't buy and pay extra for a performance bike, with less of a resale value, to have less performance than a sportster. I haven't got much of a sense of humor today, I tell you what. Stretch |

Stretch - I think someone is playing with you or they are significantly smaller than us. My 2000's (1200 cc) both pull strongly to 110. But they both blow out about 125. My 9R (1000 cc) is a bit more leggy, turns much slower up to 100 MPH, but works up to 135 before it can't make anymore power. It has a lot to do with your (our) size, I think. The wind speed you can see just by tucking down or sitting up. Now, to correct your issues, have your computer remapped at American Sport Bike, K&N, and put a decent pipe on it. You'll love the absolute jump in performance. Nothing I can do about resale, but that's why I buy used. BUT, you should be smoking any Sportster you find. Have your shop do a compression test on both cylinders, it might reveal something. (Message edited by SflaBuell on September 04, 2007) |

hey guys-just back from a out of town adventure--had a wonderful time Stretch ,I agree with the weekly posts. @ times I've tried to stir things up only to chat to myself. I check this area out at least every couple of days only to see I was the last to post 2 weeks ago. It is possible something is wrong with you XB!, but be sure that you are not expecting more than your bike can provide As far as speed from your XB12SS--top speed in general should only be 130-to a very optimistic 137 or so. there was a post on the XB board awhile ago and most have never even seen 130 and arguements followed after someone stated anything near or above 140 on a stock and even some slightly modified XB's. mine has gone as "fast" as 127 as indicated by the speedo. up to 100mph its fine but quickly starts slowing its acceleration pace after that. many things add up to be the reasons behind this. First--we (you, myself, and Clif) are all fairly big boys! Second--XB..S..platforms have no form of aerodynamic aids to work in our favor above 60mph or so when drag exponentionally rises--that is why XB..R platforms will claim higher top speeds and acceleration over previously stated 60mph mark Third--and I dont intend this as any form of insult or perception of your, mine ,or any body elses abilities, but the rider has alot to do with it.the most common answer to Buell riders from the veteran Buellers is to do track days when asked how to make the bike faster. some people road race better and some drag race better and then there are those who have never laid it down-which is usually an indication of always being too careful-whether you acknowledge it or not. AND FOURTH--that sportster may have been severely modified. I bring this up because as you know my brother has a sportster-albiet an 883 and even though he cant beat me he has embarrassed a few many others. other friends of mine also have 1200 sportsters and a few CVO twins and usually I prevail-but not always! a Buell XB will typically run in the 11 second range for the 1/4 mile-but just look at S&S and a few other aftermarket engine builders and you'll notice that they have some sporty's running in the 10 and even 9 second ranges. Buell XB can run with V-rods, but only up to about 110mph--after that it is all v-rod. Buell can just about out accelerate anything in the 1/8 mile though. Buell's also excell in handling above and beyond anything short of a Ducati. 4 more acceleration or outright speed or both there are several way of achieving results. get with me and I'll discuss them with you if you would like. I will b @ Fudd's tonight also. (Message edited by torq on September 06, 2007) |

We did some Bad weather biking tonight. Bikes were already warm. Nice rooster tail, very wet hind quarters. That's with a cheese grater. To keep everyone up to date on the performance discussion... We hashed it out, and I got an indicated 145 on my S 2.5 years ago, between the 500 and 1000 mile mark. I also got a better indicated speed on the SS, though not 145. The point is, that the bike performs differently after the TPS is reset. Some people cannot keep the front wheel on the ground before they do the reset, and afterward, even though it's a great bike to ride, and seems to be running good, that something is still happening after the bike goes in for the 1000 mile service. As of yet, we have no idea, if it's A) An error in the tech data. B) Mechanic error. C) Something else everyone might be overlooking. The point is, that if the bikes were running like that from the factory, and after the reset began to perform differently, that it is the first thing we should maybe look at. Possibility that everything is being done right, and that maybe the factory can clue us as to why this is happening. But we are not totally losing our minds ( yet ) and there is some disparagy between the way the bikes are running ( well ) and the way that maybe they should be running. ( faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive ... ) We'll have to wait and see. But we're on it. |

Didn't make it to Fudds. Guests in at the last minute. What else is new? Stretch - I don't see how a TPS could cause this. The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) set should just set zero on the throttle. But maybe I don't understand, there's a huge write-up on buelletinboard about what the DDFI system is and how it works, ad nauseum. But if you and others are certain of the time slot, maybe hooking the computer up and disconnecting can cause a problem. I'll check the service manual for any warnings. You can also, probably, at work! See you all soon. Welcome back, Torque! |

Sucks. No riding tonight. Got over to the Harley sale. Saw nothing interesting. Except the 08 CityX. But NP. Now that the Harley is down, and I am back riding the Buell, I am getting hooked on riding it again. Skitzoid for sure. Whenever I get into Harley riding mode, I never even look at the Buell. Now, I can't believe that I spent so much time off of it.

I'll be going w/ 3 others down for the poker run--we should be meeting @ peterson's south around 8 am saturday. camping out on sugarloaf key at the koa saturday night. Stretch-any new updates on the Buell?--a check of the timing and a reset of the tps could be in order--I know that even though everyone on this board and even the service manual doesn't require it every time I inquired about a tps reset the north store insisted the static timing also be adjusted. it is possible that they made such adjustments to yours and set it incorrectly |

OK, Official trip reports are due. I personally attended a very large party Friday night for the birds. Anyway, it was a charity event for the Key Largo Wild Bird Center, to help recover from the 2005 hurricane damage. So, I laid out for the run. And I didn't even make the wedding. So, fess up. Who had a great weekend? clif |

Did the wedding saturday night. Didn't sign the license though. didn't realize that until this morning. Need to get with the groom and find out what happened there. Other than that, the bike has been parked. Which, IMO, is a bummer. The harley has to go in for service, because it is leaking. Buell has been running good. Hope to be out and about this week. |

Hey guys! Magical mayo huh? Funny stuff stretch. If you guys wanna laugh and got some time to waste visit ebaumsworld.com. I've been on there for years. The bikenight last week was insanely packed, cool bikes to and I met a few new guys on xb lightnings this past week. I'm sick of this weather so I tried to get out but the screw on my shift lever to the turnbuckle fell out and left me on the side of the road. You got to be schwartzaneggar to shift that thing without the lever. I managed to get it into 3rd and ride to my friends place until I could get a screw, and there she stays for a couple more days(weather). |

Man, one word for the weather But I am itching to ride. I just polished the scooter, the Hog is in the shop, no word yet, and the Buell is begging me, but there is no end in sight to the drizzle. Frustrated, say you? Arrrgghh!!!!! Think I am gonna name the Ss Achilles. Famous warrior of Achaea, made a name for himself in the Battle of Troy. Ready to go, but am sitting on the sidelines. Maybe tomorrow, but I doubt it. Stretch (Message edited by stretchman on September 26, 2007) |
