That was a hell of a run. I saw Phil slash through corner so fast, my mind could not register what my eyes were seeing. It was a surreal experience. That was just a little pick-up ride with the 3%er's that turned into an experience of a lifetime. |

Most Union county roads are in great condition. As of today no fall color at all (it was 90 today). It is supposed to be warm the rest of the week. If it stays nice, no color, no leaf maggots. Saturday 10/6: Woody Gap Indian Summer Festival at Woody Gap School. 1/2 mile north of TWO on Hwy 60. Lots of traffic, cops. Take it easy past there. Saturday AM: Sorghum parade and festival in Blairsville. Great parade, but blocked streets. Saturday afternoon: Hot Rod/Classic car-bike show on Blairsville Square. Nice show, but avoid area if you don't want traffic. |

Thanks Tommy. We knew something was up at Woody Gap, but didn't know what. If it stays nice, no color, no leaf maggots. Except for the Florida folks, they'll be there no matter what... |

what are you trying to say glitch, that people from florida are predictable, that we have nothing better to do besides come out of state to look at the leaves turn because we don't have that luxury down there, that we really don't want to be in florida to begin with. that's why i'm trying to make it up in chattanooga. hope to see you again next week. |

Neil, now you know the Floridians I'm talking about ain't really from Florida. Starting out up north, move down to Florida. Florida gets to hot for 'em so they move up here, we call them "Half Backs" It'll be good seeing you again. You and the Misses right? 9 days left!!! |

If it stays nice, no color, no leaf maggots. Except for the Florida folks, they'll be there no matter what.. A lot of us "Appalachian Americans" think the Floridiots are just an impediment to traffic. But there's no arguing they're darn good eating! (Just kidding, we love our Florida neighbors) |

"Florida gets to hot for 'em so they move up here" But then there are the ones that move up here for other reasons. Like Florida is too flat and the roads are too straight. We call them BadWeBers!!!! |

What about us Georgians, who moved to Fl? I don't know about being compared to a "leaf maggot". Eeeewww I was just up there...it was hotter than it is here. I was trying to talk Wes into coming up there to ride, but we have way too much to do and too little time to do it. whine, bitch, moan, grumble/... |

Hey... is there a place at TWO I can back my truck up to, to get my bike out of my truck easily? If not... I'll need a lot of help unloading my bike. The only reason I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Dahlonega is they have a perfect spot for me to unload my bike. |

TWO has a bike ramp to unload/load.... How many times have you stood there while we were loading or unloading a bike and shooting the breeze?? |

Hmm... I don't remember a bike ramp there... I just remember everyone loading their railers from the grassy area that slopes up to the road. I do remember Gentlemen_jon's 'pancaking' trailer show and Cameron's badass self loading pick up truck one year. Well... that's that then. |

glitch, i'm sorry to say i am every bit a halfback. being from pittsburgh and all, but have spent some 24 yrs in florida. now i just see being up here in chattanooga as a great place to be in at my age now. DJ, looks like a good chance that i might be going to work in greenville. if that does happen and i get back to tampa this weekend before i start i can bring the atv wide ramp up with me so you can make sure that you have a way to get the bike off fairly easy. i'll keep you updated as to what happens with the job thing. |

I FULLY intend on becoming a half-back within the next 12 years!!! DJ, no worries bro... With a Tuber you can back up to the grassy knoll and probably unload without a ramp!!! I'll be bringing one though... (Message edited by Paint shaker on September 26, 2007) |

HELP! I coming but I ran into a problem, my bike appears to be sick. Need some advice, so I can get it in a condition to ride. Maybe its an easy fix, maybe I should just run it till it falls apart, but I need to get this resolved quickly. Glitch, after a trip to K*llboy, I see the LEO presence has not eased. Not that I speed all that much, but it would probably be in my best interest to stay local on Fri... LOL |

Yeah, I heard the same thing. I also heard that the law abiding "older riders" weren't feeling any love either. It's ok though, we have roads. Nice ones. We'll be up around 10 or so. A lot of other locals will be up earlier. |

From www.tailofthedragon.com Just when you think you’ve heard it all the THP steps to even lower levels. One of Graham County’s most respected citizens was recently ticketed while returning from Knoxville. This doctor has served Graham County’s medical needs for more than 3 decades and has made this trip to and from Knoxville hundreds of times. A few weeks ago she had just begun the climb into the stretch of road known as the Dragon when she noticed blue lights in her rear view mirror. She glanced at her speed and noted it was just under 40 mph. Thinking that the emergency vehicle was responding to a wreck on the mountain she began looking for a place to pull off the road to allow the vehicle to pass. Not seeing an immediate pull-off she accelerated so as to find a pull-off as soon as possible. When she finally pulled into a safe place she was startled to see the Tennessee Highway Patrol car pull in behind her. Trooper Baily cited her for doing 46 in a 30 mph zone. He would not listen to the fact that he caused her to speed-up or that she was returning to Robbinsville to answer 6 medical calls from the local nursing home. Trooper Baily was mechanical and stated the speed of 46 was a more serious violation by 1 mph. He would not even reduce the infraction 1 mph because of the circumstances. Keep it up Tennessee …. You surprise us nearly every day.

glitch, i don't care if you calz em as you seez em. of course i'm starting to consider whether i want to support a state that is against the thing i love the most(besides the wife incase she reads this). the good thing is i'm only 4 miles away from georgia so i wouldn't have to move far. DJ, since paint will have a ramp with him, i won't bother bringing mine back with me. |

No need for a ramp. Beside the big lean to there's a bit of a hill. Inside the lean to there's a 8X10 plank. Besides, I'm willing to bet there'll be plenty help near by.

Glitch, I read that post... also Tail of the Dragon posted a heavy LEO presence as late as Sept 21-23, on Fridays as well!!! We should have camp set up by 8 am Friday. We'll take a "spin around the block" on the Gap (Wolf Pen!) and see you around 10ish... |

the people who own this place are like what, world class chef's You got it. Britt and GT were chefs in San Fransisco, pretty well known. A few years ago as the gang grew, we used to eat calamari with the noobies after their first mountain runs. Whenever Britt sees you you're greeted with a big WELCOME HOME! I love it up there. One day we'll be living up there, good bye city, Hello Mountain Life! Sorry 'bout that, I get homesick being stuck driving to Atlanta every day... |

The food is terrific. During MBIV Britt brought out a Fiesta Steak Salad that she had created that afternoon. Those of us who ordered it loved it. She said she would add it to the menu. I hope she followed through with that promise! Prices are reasonable. I think Carlos and spent around $30-40 for dinner each night. |

Holy crap, the TWO burgers are the best on the planet. They grind it from steak on site. It ain't bargain, but it's a damn sight better than canned tamales and ramen noodles and worth every, single, penny! It's just a really fun environment in a place that just feels fun when you walk in the door. Add the good folks and friends, and you can see why 12 months was WAAAAAY too long! |
