I just got back from the hospital. Brian will probably be in surgery until midnight. Mark is going to call me as soon as Brian gets out of surgery. He has a shattered vertebrae,so they are going in to clean it up and put some rods in. The prognosis is good if all goes well with the surgery. He should be using a walker to get around within a week. Mark, Brian's brother said that you guys should feel free to call him for updates. If you need his number call me. |

This morning had to be the worst ride I've had in a long time. As usual, i was following up in the back of the group, when we approached a car traveling slow. C-stud was leading and clearly passed the vehicle with Xbullet following suit. After passing the car bullet was coming back into the lane and went into a bit of a wobble then strait off into the ditch. At the point of asphalt seperation (his chin fairing was found some 25 to 30 feet off the road), Xbullet pushed himself away from the bike out of instinct as the two of them tumbled some 200 plus feet with a telephone pole splitting their paths. Xbullet was extremely fortunate because his body barely went by the pole and made contact with a vinyl fence and a small oak tree where i found him conscious and hurting resting underneath. Alot of folks stopped and prayed for him as he layed there, and I thank them all. Emergency services were quick to get to the scene, very suprising considering where we were and that it was a Sunday morning. Xbullet is currently at Grady's Trauma Unit where I understand he will have surgery tonight on his lower back, C-stud can give more details on the injuries, but I know he can move his limbs and he has feeling all over. Our prayers are with him and his family in this time of need. (Message edited by deadduck on September 09, 2007) |

"When can we visit?" I would give Mark a call, he will know for sure. I am sure Brian is going to need a little quiet time after surgery. I do know that they only allow one visitor at a time while he is down stairs in the trauma unit. |

Shred, his bike is at Deadducks garage. The bike is definitely totaled. Just have to see if the insurance company wants it before Brian makes his decision to part it out. I have some pics that I will post later if Brian's OK with it. |

Stealth - love the picture, she's beautiful. Shred - I bet Nicholas and Luke would have a great time together! He does the same thing on his riding toys. Of course, he loves to ride the Uly down to the shop when Carlos puts it away for the night. |

One last installment of "The Dirty Road." Day ten: the last day I woke up to a beautiful mountain sunrise in Waynesville, NC this morning and headed on down the road for my last day of vacation.
As long as I rode Saturday, I expected to be sore as hell, but I actually felt great. I rode about 45 miles south down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Cherokee, NC. After successfully navigating some sort of bike rally, I connected up to highway 19 and on to 129. I spent a whole week riding 2000 miles on mountain roads in five states, and it really gave me a new appreciation for what we have here in Georgia. I had a great time on some fun roads, but I never found anything to compare with the run north up Blood Mountain on 129 or the really good sections of 180. I see now why people flock here every year for March Badness. And lest we forget, there are some pretty good mountain views right here in our own back yard.
I had a great vacation, but now I'm home, and it's back to the grind! I can't wait to do this again next year. |

> This time next week I'll be in Virginia at V.I.R If you run into a guy named Robert on an X1, stop by and say hello. He's the dude from Macon I rode with Saturday on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He said he'd be at VIR. > Complete.....Hayden's first motorcycle ride!!! I told you he'd fit right in that side case. P.S. I found my black bungee net, so that one you have isn't mine. It's a good thing I found it, too, because the new one I bought never made it to my bike. I was standing a bit too close to an oil tub when I opened the package.
Oops. > Hers's Nicholas getting his 'WHEELIE' on.. Haha, like father, like son. |

Mrs Glitch, THANK YOU! I can't believe you remembered! I will do my best not to kill them. After seeing me with plants and pets, Kdan understands now why I never had children! Brian, prayer said, couple of them now. Sanchez, next year, we want to go with you! Charlie/Sam (and the Hare Bear bunch) sorry I don't get to make it after all. I blame Kdan. He said your little kid-ling is a cutie. Some times I wish we lived closer to that side of town since thats where all the COOL KIDS hang out. I am soooo ready for our lives to settle down and we can start playing with you guys again. We didn't get to see you guys that much but I miss even the little we did! I don't care for these Bucking F*$@kheadians I have to spend most of my time with. Boring, Superficial, arrogant....dahhhhh... Anyway, miss ALL you guys! Oh yeah, and I DID drag a peg, quite a few times actually, this weekend AND managed to keep up with Kdan. Granted it was on the low riding Blast AND Kdan was on the KLR 650 with him AND his Kid, but hey, it's a start! |

Luke was 3 in April. He's all BOY. He loves to ride the lawn tractor and motorcycle. He likes to hang out with Carlos when he's working on the bike. Of course after watching Handy Manny, he knows what Squeeze is and its job! |

I talked to Mark this afternoon, and it looks like Brian's in for a long rehabilitation. The doctors replaced his fractured L1 vertebra and installed a metal rod to brace the damaged area. Recovery will take 6-8 months, but the good news is he will recover. It's possible he'll have some numbness in his extremities, but he'll definitely walk again. Other than that, his only other major injury was a dislocated shoulder. He'll be moved to a spinal care recovery center in a few days and probably won't have any visitors until then. |

Sanchez.....Do you know if he will be at Shepard's Spinal Center? If so I am down there at least once a week and I can pop in and see him. When he is ready, of course. He will walk again....AWESOME! |
