Buell_nm, thanks for the invite. I am going for sure. Can you help me with a list of things going on. I tried the Zia Thunder Club web site but did not see anything on it. Is there another site that has the activities that are taking place, if any? I saw on one post that there might be a dinner/get together? I just want to make sure I don't miss anything. I will try to get a couple of others from Colorado Springs to come down with me. Thanks again, Frank |

Frank, This would be the only place to find info, we never got around to populating the Zia Thunder Club site. As far as I know Dave made reservations for dinner Sat. night. As we get closer we'll work at getting a more accurate head count. Most of the activities will be fairly loosely planned, to quote Murrea, organizing this group is like trying to herd cats. It's a laid back group. Kim kkprichardATgamilDOTcom |

Ok, sounds just like our group. No problem. I will make reservations soon. I will plan to ride down the 17th and leave the 19th. I love riding in that area. I hope to meet you all soon. Frank |

Hello all... I'm back from vacation and the schedule says we are supposed to ride this Sunday. According to the schedule, we're supposed to go to Jemez Springs/Valle Grande. Did anyone have a better suggestion?? If not, a ride is a ride and I'm up for it. I'll be meeting Albuquerque/Rio Rancho riders at the McDonalds in Bernalillo at 0800. I figure we'll leave by 0815 and be to the shop by 0900 or so. We can leave from there sometime between 0930-1000 if we are doing Jemez Springs since it's a relatively short ride. If anyone wants to go elsewhere, like farther north, I'm down with that too, but we may need to leave the shop earlier. I'm bringing a few guys from work who ride all sorts of different bikes, so hopefully they blend well with OUR group. Hope to see some of you on Sunday! CJR 450-2700 |

I'm moving to Minnesota in two weeks to start grad school and am looking do reduce my hassle in moving. Up for sale is my 2001 Lightning X1, white panels, nuclear blue (although everyone calls it purple) tube frame. It's got just over 9000 miles on it, and had just over 6000 when i bought it 1 year ago (almost to the day). It has new scorpion tires that went on 1500 or so miles ago. It presently has the race kit is installed, I have a stock exhaust and ecm I got from ebay, as well as the service manual. I'm asking for $4,250, but I'm a reasonable man. If you're looking for that special 4th or 5th bike for your collection, this would make a fine addition. Shoot me any questions you might have, the bike and I are both in santa fe. |

OK folks, CJ and Dave K are getting the final plans together for Taos. We need t-shirt sizes and how to organize the payment that covers the shirts and the Saturday night dinner. I should have some Buell swag as well. I'm good with trusting everyone to be responsible and pay the fee at the event if you gave a shirt size and attend the dinner. Any feed back? Let Ghostrider know. |

Well, I'm not going to be able to be there much and I won't be staying in Taos. I'm only going to be able make it to able to meet everyone on Friday morning but I don't have enough time to ride with ya all. I was able to get off early for the dinner, but other then that I won't be seeing ya all. I luv this new job but it isn't nearly as flexible as the last one. |

Alex, sorry to hear your going to let the bike go, those nuclear blue White Lightnings are rare. You should do well advertising it on eBay. Good luck wherever your future takes you!

2007 Taos Buell Rally OK folks, it's the 11th hour. It's time to start committing to this thing. We need RSVP's so we know how many to book for the dinner on Saturday as well as how many tee shirts to make. The basic game plan is: Everyone arrives in Taos on Friday from the various parts of the globe. Could do a short ride Friday afternoon if people are around and interested. I'll be around Friday evening to get folks registered, hand out tees, take money, whatever. Saturday is a full day of riding. Routes and lunch stop are being arranged now and will follow. Dinner at Sagebrush for the group. Prizes and swag. Sunday is a ride/return day. There will be plenty of scenic routes to get you back in the proper direction. Could do a short AM ride out of Taos if we choose. Reservations are on own at Sagebrush in Taos. We're looking at event registration being $40. I don't REQUIRE you to send money now, but do need to know how many people will be attending. Dave: Can you please facilitate getting RSVP's from the Colorado crowd?? Thanks CJ Rodden cjrodden@gmail.com 505-450-2700 |

I guess I forgot to mention that we're supposed to have a ride tomorrow. The schedule calls for "Peak to Peak", which is fine with me since I have a lot of homework to do. I don't think I'm going to meet at Coffee at Dawn, though. Let's just meet at SFHD/B at 0930. We can do SF first, then Sandia second. Any objections? |

OMG!! You guys don't know what you're missing. I did the race school this weekend, and did my first two races. It was too much fun, I'm thinking that this is about as addictive as crack. I can't wait to get my next fix. Two weeks it just too long to wait.... Of course, there were two reminders of just how dangerous this is too. Two racers were flown off the track by helicopter. One I heard was doing well and the other was still in critical condition the last I heard. Of course, he was one of the guys that I was pitting with. I actually felt sick the first time I went through that corner, after his wreak. |

...and I'm spent! Thanks to everyone that came out for the rally. It was fun and nearly broke even! Here's how it went: First, we had dinner at Doc Martin's in Taos. I thought it was a little pricey given the portion size on my lamb. But the buffalo steak looked good.
Saturday, we started out down the High Road from Taos to Santa Fe.
What the hell are these guys doing?
We stopped in Las Trampas to look at a REALLY OLD church...
...where I tried to get a self portrait.
While we had lunch in Santa Fe, Kitty got a couple of new tires...which took longer than expected. Luis decided to spend the time shopping while others tried to find shade.
This shot is at the top of the Brazos. I don't know what happened to Conway. I think he was so far out in front that he stopped at some other rest stop.
Here are a few of the bikes.
Saturday evening at the banquet, we had a nice Mexican dinner and gave out lots of swag and awards. Thanks to Dave Kaminen for donating the awards and to Murrae for pulling two HUGE boxes of stuff out of the shop for give aways.
Luis and Sophie are the look-a-like newlyweds.
Here is a close up of Mr. Ingraham.
I don't have any Sunday photos, but most people took off early to get home. Murrae, Kim, Bill, Luis & Sophie, and I all went out to do Enchanted Circle. We did Questa-Red River-Angel Fire before I peeled off back to Taos to pack and drive home. I still have extra shirts if anyone is interested. |

All, I had a great weekend. I am a little beatup by the Bolt but I am recovering. It was really great meeting all of you and riding in that area. I am still shocked that I was able to pack all the "swag" on the Bolt. CJ and Dave; SUPER JOB!!!!! Hopefully we will have more guys/gals from the Altitude Riders in Colorado Springs join us next year. Frank |

Hey New Mexico guys Had a great time. Rode home with Frank and Jeff. Frank left us at Walsenberg and we left Jeff at Woodland Park. Had a little bit of rain and some 100 degree temps. Just loved 64. That was a blast. Some beautiful country you guys have. Thank you again, especially Dave, Murray and CJ. Hope to see you all again |

The Taos Rally was a hoot! Nothing could stop us from enjoying some of the best NM roads...neither heat, nor rain, nor hail, nor gravel... Great runs through US Routes 84/64 and the Ojo Caliente/El Rito road (5something...?). BIG Thanks to CJ, Dave, and Murrae for the planning and execution... Nick |
