So... The dragon, I'm told that the best time to go down is in the late fall right before the leaves come down. Less traffic... no accidents... no cops... and apparantly its backed up the whole summer. I guess 1000's of people a day go down there during the summer months, plus every farrari and ducati a**hole ends up in the ditch. I think we should plan september sometime? what do you think? |

Matt, Awesome pics, it actually took me a minute to remember what the defining moment was... not knowing to put the memory card in the card holder. 2 gigs on 1/4 square piece of plastic, who knew. Apparently everybody but me!! |

Steve, Haha yeah, it happens to the best of us! So HD decided to fix my bike again for free. I did what the big man suggested and just stuck to the customer service route. I didn't have to drop any big names... Hopefully this isolator lasts! |

My sincerest apologies to all for my having 'advertised' a free antique motorcycle show being produced by a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational corporation. Rest assured, this insensitive act will not be repeated by myself or any agent of the non-stock not-for-profit educational corporation in question. thanks for understanding, and, again, please accept my sincerest apologies (i attempted to delete the original threads, but could only delete my responses. if any custodians would be so helpful as to delete all of the 'advertisements' which I'd posted for this event, I'd be very thankful. again, my sincerest heartfelt apologies for this act) (Message edited by tramp on July 24, 2007) |

I usually take about ten hours to ride down to Roanoke, Va to visit some biker friends down there. That's mostly interstates, not much fun! It takes quite a bit longer on the two lanes and down Skyline Drive and the BlueRidge Parkway. Last time I rode down the Parkway it seemed to me that there was a Parks Cop every 15-20 minutes hiding in the woods watching traffic. The curves were still fun and the views fantastic. A ride well worth repeating. |

Welcome fellow Roman Cookster64. What is your schedule like and do you have any favorite places to ride? We should try to get some regular rides scheduled so that we Central NY Buellers can get together on a more regular basis during our short riding season. Maybe some ride and cookout/picnic or ride to eat events. I enjoy the rides most of all, but some good fellowship and talking bikes and sharing ideas is great, too. |

Saturday morning I rode down to Swain Ski area South of Rochester. They were putting on a motorcycle ride to support the Bath VA Outreach program. The ride itself was a little over a hundred miles and well put together. After the ride they had a live band and BBQ at the Ski Resort. Several hundred bikes showed. All kinds/brands however I was the only one there riding a Buell! After that I rode over to the Clarence Center Vol Fire Dept (Abt 70 miles from Swain) where another Bike event was being put on. BBQ chicken supper and live bands as well as venders. Lots of bikes. Again everything from Sports bikes to cruizers as well as touring bikes. Even some hot rods and a show big truck.Again, I was the only one there riding a Buell! We all are aware of the seemingly lack of real dealer support in stocking Buell items. The only viable answer to that is dollars and to do that there needs to be more Buell riders using their stores & to get that we need to be seen at least by the prospective customers. I am sure if more Buells were seen at some of these largely Harley types attended events, more Buells would be sold and we in turn would get the better service we would all like. Buells are fun to ride! Let's ride ours and be seen! |

Hey guys! Hey and welcome to Cookster. Sounds like a good ride Trap. My buddy and I did a little over 300 miles yesterday down through the southern hills. 13 through Caz all the way to Cortland, 41 through Greene (sound familiar) we did 10 to Walton then cut out and came back up 8 and 80. Awesome ride. |

So, when are the CNY Buellers going down to Va & NC? From what I read I think the end of Sep or early Oct was mentioned? How much time did everyone plan on spending? Roanoke, Va ususally takes me about ten hours via I-81. That would make it a day & a half down another day & a half back (3 days) plus another at the Dragon (4 days minimum). Of course if someone wanted to Iron Butt it I guess you could shave a day or so off that. That ride through the White Mountains sounds interesting... |

Hey Trapper Go over to ADV-rider and in the Jo Momma section check out the Whole Deals gap thing, Seems like the TN state police has effectively shut the road down to bikes. It is having a crackdown on motorcyclists. Hey, you do not have a BBG up your sleeve yet? |

Uylrover, Just checked out http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ guess I do NOT want to ride down there any time soon! Have been putting off a BBG until Oct or so, after the road construction winds down a bit. Then either get one on a West Coast run to/from Southern Calif and/or just ride down I-81 750 miles, turn around and head back. That's what Doc (The BMW guy from McConnelsville) did for his. Been doing research on ST tires that may last a little longer for the high mileage/high speed rides. I figure I only have a few weeks left on the second set of tires I've had on this year. I am committed to ride out to a Viet Nam Vets motorcycle party near Jamestown Saturday however I'd like to take a putt over to VT/NH sometime soon. How's your schedule looking? |

The book,Motorcycle Journeys Through New England, third edition, talks about Twisting Northern Vermont. Trip #13 Northern Green Mountains Loop highlights more twisty roads than most riders ever dream of,....Well we may not be most riders however is anyone up for a ride over that way? |

Hey Oddsc, Welcome. We visited the CMOG last summer with the kids. Are you one of the guys that work on the stages? I watched a show on discovery this afternoon about the intentional sinking of an aircraft carrier to create an artificial reef in Florida. One of the guys involved was wearing a gray pit shirt with the pegasus logo. Buell guys are everywhere! |

whoa... scratch that.. I was just reading through some of the back logs and checked out the tail of the dragon website. Is that for real? Where are their SS badges, for pity's sake? With my pipes and stuff, my poor bike would wind up impounded for sure! I'll have to pass the word to my local HOG group. They are planning to ride through there on their way to the national rally, considering that many have custom bikes, this might not be a good idea anymore. Thanks for the heads up. So NH/VT is looking better and better Plus this weekend is a big stunt show in PA. These guys are pretty sick. They recently were at the Canadian National HOG rally, and put on quite a show. |

Silens3r, Since you mentioned after market pipes; Last Saturday, when riding from Swain Ski Area to the Clarence VFD, I came across a checkpoint being manned by NY State Police and Sheriff's Deputies. They checked out my Uly, my paperwork and asked a couple questions and let me go. However, when I got to the event site and was talking with some other motorcyclists I found that more than a few of them had got tickets. It seems that officers would say ,"Those are aftermarket pipes, they are not legal on the street in NY!" Then they would write them a ticket. One of the troopers reportedly told one of the riders that someone had filed a suit against the NYSP for not enforcing motorcycle muffler laws and their supervisors had directed them, in their troop, to target motorcycles with aftermarket, louder than stock mufflers. Might not want to get on the throttle around the NYSP, at least until it is known if this was an isolated thing or not! |
