I'm looking for a good dyno tune, any shops in the Toronto-Niagra Falls area with a dyno w/ fuel-air probe that does good work?? I live in Rochester, NY, and still looking locally. I wouldn't mind blitzing up to Toronto or the Falls on my M2 to get tuned up. Thanks.

Aesquire, Call Don Morris of Stay Tuned Systems of Mt. Hope (near Hamilton) to book an appointment on his Dyno. Don's been eating, sleeping and breathing HD performance motors for decades. He's scary knowledgeable and a genuine enthusiast. He races an X1 in Cdn Thunder and drags a 180 rwhp monster. He's the real deal and a great guy to do business with. By appointment only. Okay, so Brian did an excellent job fixing the hub by welding in a 7071 aluminum sleeve.... Concentric to 0.0002"... Beat that.... A big "thanks budd" to Brian.... See you at Mosport.... zzzzzzzzzz, Lornce |

The rain doesn't bother me. It certainly makes things more challenging! The speeds aren't as fast (bummer!) but its easy to spin-up the rear coming off the corners (wahooo!). I'm hoping it will pour today and this system will pass. Sunday is looking better, we should have some sun in the afternoon. If I go to Cayuga it will prolly be on my Honda CRF450. I still need much practice before the start of the SuperMoto season. But on the other hand, my Buell will still be set-up for racing.....hmmmmm??? |

So, I tore into my bike today with a few tools, multimeter, and some jumper wires. Turns out I have a trouble code #14. A bad engine temperature sensor. Or so I thought. Turns out the sensor is within spec ( 70.2 k ohms). Now I have to go through the ECM pins checking resistance values. I may have a bad ECM??? Damn fuellies and damn DDFI. Lornce, I need a ride on your slash-5 to calm my nerves. How was the track today? Dry? My film is in getting devoloped now....I'm getting doubles. |

Saturday morning there were only three of us out in the first 'hotshoe' session in the pouring rain. My introduction to Mosport was a true baptism.... Full immersion.... So much water running across the track I could spin the wheel at 120mph up the back straight.... That was the fun part.... Turn two at Mosport is one of the most nerve-racking things I've ever done on a motorcycle.... Done right, it requires you bank full left.... on a down slope.... at about 100mph.... over the edge of a hill.... BEfore you can even see the rest of the corner.... I'm sure I'd eventually get the hang of this one, but heavy traffic was NOT the safe way to learn it.... One mistake and you'd go wide onto a down hill grassy slope at over 100mph.... And run into a tire rimmed wall.... The fast guys, who have this corner nailed, gain seconds a lap in this one spot alone.... Turn four is similar, though much less terrifying.... Passed a fast guy on an R1100S in four in the rain.... Never saw him after that.... A little background.... Last week I discovered a spun bearing in the rear wheel of my S1 Lightning.... Asked a machinist to shrink (NOT press) a steel sleeve into the aluminum hub for me.... (I have no suitable lathe access at the moment).... Gave him the interference specs etc, and procedure how I wanted it done.... Long story short, he didn't do as I asked and it failed in less than 200 yards in the pit area.... Spent the rest of the weekend trying to hide the state of my wheel from the Tech Marshals who would surely have sidelined me.... The bike felt squirrely with the wheel moving back an forth 3/8" at the tire's edge.... All but three of Mosport's corners are fast 4th gear deals, and it was VERY unsettling.... I was too stupid to simply park the bike.... Wanted to ride.... I think it took a few years off my life.... Monday I was able to ride the old Suzuki and things were MUCH better.... Even with a "moment" in turn two on cold tires.... Gave John Snider a fright watching that.... Long story short.... The S1's a great street bike.... Great looks, feel, sound etc.... But it needs work to be a good, confidence inspiring track bike.... Not much work mind.... Rear set pegs (my feet were constantly on the deck limiting corner speed) Would like to mod the swingarm/rear shock mount to raise the ride height an inch or so and add a premium shock.... Fork set up needs work.... More spring preload for better turn in and mid corner control.... Clip on bars a must.... BMW 'S' bars too high.... Like riding a dirt bike on the track.... Steering dampener would be useful.... Played human steering dampener, pushing forward on the bars up the back straight.... And of course.... I want an 88" motor.... Or maybe I'll just go traveling on the /5. lh Caboose, Thanks for your hospitality. Saturday morning would have been pretty miserable without the refuge of your trailer. Too bad we couldn't run together on Sunday, hope you get your X1 sorted before too long. How about Cayuga on the 11th? John, Thanks for ALL of your help, all weekend long. Where you able to get a spot for Cayuga?

Sparkster, I'll be there with my X1 and my SuperMoto bike. Its a good time, the roads are twisty but a little bumpy. The people are great and its a fun atmosphere. The starter on my X1 finally let go. Its been weak for a while now and has had a bit of an oil leak in the area for even longer. Looks like I'm gonna have to take it to the shop. What next??? |

Attention! We will be moving the site to its own dedicated big bore server as well as implementing some significant BBS enhancements later this morning. The site will be offline starting between 8AM and 9AM. You may be able to continue to view the forum, but not post. If you are still getting the view-only forum by late afternoon, say 5PM, you might want to try refreshing your browser window and even shutting down and restarting your computer. If that doesn't work you might call your ISP, especially if it is a small local operation, and ask them to update their DNS (domain name server) files. In the mean time I've asked the guys at SacBORG if they would be gracious enough to host a temporary surrogate BadWeB forum on their site. Just be forewarned that there are some very... uh... antagonistic Buell hating trolls there. Hopefully they'll leave well enough alone. If not, feel free to humiliate them with truth and grace. If you don't see a surrogate BadWeB topic there, assume it was not to be. I cannot imagine that since in truth, BadWeB is the Father of SacBORG, our illegitimate son. Kinda like the Darth/Luke scenario in reverse. LOL. Anyway, Chop and Eeeeek are great guys as are most of the others who hang there, so wish our sys-admin luck and I hope to see you back here tomorrow afternoon. Blake |
