"Saturday looks good so far. Sunday however may not be so nice." Are you talking about the weather? Haven't checked it for a couple days so I don't know how it looks myself. I'm going to try to make at least one of the days. Work is like crazy busy, so I'm sure they're going to ask me to work Saturday. We'll see. |

Great ride today guys. Nice choice of routes Aron. Wouldn't mind doing that one again. Of course I'll need you to show me because there's no way I will remember all that. (My memory just isn't what it used to be. Heck I almost got lost getting to Gators.) The only draw back I'm finding with meeting all you guys is I'm starting to rack up an I-O-U list for breakfast. Thanks again Aron. Graham, what was that web site we talked about? Like I said, my memory isn't what it used to be. How did your beerfest go, too? |

Jim, no problem. I wouldn't mind doing that route again as well but this time spend some more time on those roads and get another hour or so in. Graham, It was great meeting you today and hope you were able to at least taste test some beers today. |

So the web site is Sandhillspowersports.com check em out for gear and tires, remember, free shipping on orders over 75 bucks. Beerfest was great too, i did taste each of the beers present and low and behold, I took first place, cant believe it, now I get to represent McMenamins by brewing the beer for the Winter Beer Fest at Pioneer Square. Have fun in Rocky Mountain National Park Cord! |

Cord, from gators we headed to NE 25th over by Montgomery Park area and headed up towards to Cornell and then Thompson. We turned Right on Skyline and continued it past Cornelius Pass all the way to Dixie Mt Rd. We turned Right On Dixie which dropped us down into Scappoose. We then took the Scappose-Vernonia Rd. Once at the T we headed into Vernonia for Gas. Next time I would like to take a Right and head to Clatskanie, as well as check out a couple of the other side roads like Apiary Rd. We then headed back to 26 to North Plains. Turned onto West union – Cornelius Pass –German Town Rd and dropped back onto 30 where we split off once hitting 405. Not a bad route and I really enjoyed it. This route had a lot of turns. Total round trip was only 155 miles and that includes the 21 miles to Gators. When we first got to Dixie Mt rd we tried turning Left so that we could drop out in Scappoose via Dutch Canyon rd but we ran out of Pavement and headed back to the T and headed in by Dixi instead. Dixie has the potential to be a fun rd if the Gravel would be swept off the rd. It was about 25-45 mph road in its current condition (for me anyway). It’s only about 5 minutes down so it was quick. I couldn’t believe how nice Vernonia-Scappose Rd was. We didn’t get a single car in front of us. From what I have heard the Stretch to Clatskanie is even better (more twisties). I will have to hit it next time. Graham, very cool about your beer. Oh, and it won't take long to keep up. It gets addictive hitting the turns the more comfortable you get. Just remember to ride your comfort level. Its easy to under estimate a turn that you are not familiar with. Its better to fall a few seconds behind then take a white van to the hospital. |

After yesterday, I'm ready for a 1000 mile service and am thinking about just doing it myself. I'm not sure when I will get to do the full service but I want to change the oil right away so I wanted to get opinions on which oil to use from people that ride in the same area I do. I've always ran synthetic in my bikes so will continue to do so with this one. I've never found one that really seemed to be better than the other, but you just never know if someone else has. Anyway, what are you guys using? Or better yet, has anyone found something they would stay away from? |

Jim, I am using the Screaming Eagle Sync 3 2-50 for the engine and the Formula+ for the tranny. I tried the Sync3 in the tranny but I like the Formula better and it's what is recommended as well. The 1000 miles service is pretty easy. If you want to do a TPS reset, I have the software it would save you some time over going to the dealership. I just changed my fluids yesterday afternoon after getting back from our ride while the bike was still hot. I tend to over do it and change it every 2000 miles. I am not sure how much metal those magnets will hold, but the tranny plug is full after 2000 miles. My engine magnet has been clean ever since I past the 5000 mile mark. I am coming up on my 10K here in the next three weeks I am guessing. Riding 450-500 miles/week is really racking up the miles quickly. |

My engine magnet has been clean ever since I past the 5000 mile mark. My bike has had SYN3 in the engine and trans since it's 1000 mile service. I had no mentionable metal shavings at the 5K mile service from the trans. |

looks like today was a quiet ride/meeting at Gator's. Not to sound like a total loser, but i had to attend "birthing classes" today, as our first is due on July 12th. As i mentioned earlier, i have no idea what's in store for me this summer,(besides a severe lack of sleep) but I sure hope to hook up with some of you for a saturday am ride as soon as i get a chance... |

Hey All. I'm back form Vacation. Got me a new GPS too. Sweet toy, Garmin Zumo 450, mount is a bit big, but should help us on routes... How's everyone? Roc and I talked about making the St. Hellens trip a third Sunday ride for the Buell Club he's been heading up for a couple years. Thoughts? |

Paul, just made a St. Hellens run Sat. the 7th. with a friend that bought a 748. It was his first trip up that way. We went up 503 out to Cougar and up to Eagle cliff then cut across to Carson and home on 14. I Don't know if this is the same route you're thinking of, but I know this is pretty popular. I would recommend doing it in reverse of this as there were a few bad spots in the road going up that I didn't see in the other lane. I have always gone this same way, but think it would be better in reverse. Just a thought. I'm in either way. This Sunday the 15th is the third one, is that the day you're talking about? Any thought of a meeting point? (Message edited by hergy916 on July 10, 2007) |

If we try on short notice in July we may end up with a small group. We could look at Aug ans Sept as well. Perhaps a preride is in order soon to pick a route? |

That's like five days away. That should be plenty of time. But, if not, I'm down for a preview ride, too. |
