James, just go over to Central and go to service. Ask for Zeus or Adam and they will get you hooked up, just had to get some exhaust rings replaced which also are a stock HD part. |

I went over to Gail's just a minute ago and picked up a set of nuts for $2.16. Now if I could only buy the set that are in my woman's purse for $2.16. I crack myself up. I'll be up for some riding this weekend. Later. |

So after being out last night without gloves or a jacket I bought some new stuff today. I picked up a new jacket and set of gloves that are both approved for track days from Motorcycle Closeouts. I decided that if I'm going to buy gear it might as well be CE approved so that when I finally get to do a track day I don't have to buy as much stuff. Now all I need is a pair of boots and some pants and I've got the track day covered for gear. Maybe some day I'll even get rid of the HJC and trade up for a decent helmet. The gloves are all leaher Joe Rockets, and the jacket is a mesh Joe Rocket. I spent $45 on the gloves and $135 on the jacket, so I think I did pretty well. Hard to believe I actually bought some gear instead of wearing hand me downs isn't it? Anyway, I'm up for riding when ever anyone else has some time to ride. Give me a call. |

My X1W is sitting in TUlsa at my friend's house. I plan to ride it back home when I take the grandson and his mom down to see Great Grandma, the FXR is finally back together and runs excellent. My friend Tony rode to Tulsa with me on the FXR and I rode the Buell and got him connected with a ride to Arizona. Made his vist more fun getting to take a nice ride and pay him back for helping me with the FXR rebuild, could not have done it without him. He spotted clutch assembly damage that would have eventually grenaded and taken out the whole primary or tranny out on the road somewhere. We got all of the parts and stuff scrounging all over the city, but finally got it done. Thanks to Ron Bailey, lives over in Independence near 31st & Vermont east of Sterling. great old school bike builder. He has some old Buell factory NOS race parts for a S1/S3 and some other Buell parts and alot of misc shop collected old HD parts, check with him for Buell odds and ends.816-254-8666 I know he was wanting to sell several Buell things. He had a new in the box race can and a coated header he wanted to sell. Radar over at Bears in Avondale, big help and great prices on the parts I had to order. Alter Ego did not have any of the things I needd in stock except the rocker gasket set, Worth North Oak actually had two things I needed and the price was the same as J&P catalog. Learned lots of understanding about the FXR, not nearly as intimidated about working on anything on it now. Tony had done lots of bike rebuilds and chopper fabrications, his organizational and stopping to clean up and reset for each phase of work is good technique. I did not get nearly so confused about reassembly folowing his lead. Hope to see you guys around town. I have a few "Willie G's Bastard Stepchildren Buell V-Twin Motorcycles" patches I want to sell, $5 each. Y'all be safe, and I will see you around town |

Mine is down. Stranded me yesterday afternoon. Now the engine light flashes repeatedly in sync with the cycling exhaust servo and fuel pump when I turn the ignition on. I think it might have something to do with my having had the 15k service done last Friday. I have had such incredibly shiddy luck with Gail's service department at each and every service. |

Who wrecked their white firebolt this morning on I-35 right before the 119th exit? Looks like either got dinged by a car or maybe swerved away from a wreck and went down. Didnt see anyone in gear so I hope you are ok. At a quick glance the bike didnt look horrible but the tailsection looked beat up. |

It wasn't Sam. I just spoke to him and he said he doesn't crash unless he is on the track. He also wanted me to remind everyone of Dave and Kandie's upcoming visit at the end of July. He will be putting together some sort of fun get-together like we had last year. (Message edited by lowflyer on June 27, 2007) |

Want to remove the exhaust can from my Lightning and repaint it due to some rust peekin' through the paint. Have read the BWB technical posts and googled "Buell exhaust removal". Need confirmation from someone who's done this before. So.. it looks like I don't have to remove the pulley to access the rear clamp bolt on the exhaust can. Just need a 1/4" deep socket and a socket wrench extension. Same tool for the front clamp bolt after removing the chin guard. Any advice or recommendations for the painting bit? Just rattle can it with hi temp black? Ideally, I'd like to paint the front and back straps black too, but that may not be worth it. Thanks for the advice. |

How do you manage to do that and not have the cops confiscate your bike? I saw you out on I-435 & Hwy 71 the other day. You got skills and balls and very little common sense riding in heavy traffic the way you were when I saw you. Have fun, thanks for helping my insurance rates go up. Rusty the grumpy old fart |

Your insurance rates only go up if he makes claims against his, which he hasn't. It's not like anyone over 25 is really paying that much for insurance on their Buells unless it is their own fault. Hell, I'm 26 and don't even have a perfect record and I only pay $384 a year for full coverage.... |

Yeah I know, but insurance rates are effected by claims within zip code areas too. The other thing to me is, that cops in this area already have a hardon for sport bikes. Why give them more incentive to pull people over? Yeah it is his life and I don't suppose he will have time to effect my personal rates much before the day comes that I quit riding. However, stunting in traffic is not real smart for safety, public attitudes, provoking cops, encouraging less skilled riders to try the same stuff, which will most likely lead to someone getting seriously hurt or killed. None of which helps all of us who ride every day. Stunting is cool in the right venue, but not out in traffic. |
