I've been going round and round on email with Tracy Riffe about it. Apparently, the track day is limited to 75 or so and the track gives 50 tickets to the dealer to distribute as they please. The other 25 are apparently open to whoever. So, this is not an exclusively Zia Thunder event, there will be others out there who are not on Buells or are otherwise not affiliated with us. Nevertheless, it should be a lot of fun and I'm definitely in. However, one hiccup is the dates. The August date is the weekend that we are doing the Taos Rally. The October weekend is open. Murrae said that if we like, we could schedule it in August and then invite Colorado guys to participate with us, making it a part of the rally. My opinion is that would be a bad idea. I think they come pretty far as is and most try to high-tail it back north in time for work Monday. Bringing them all the way to Albuquerque may not be popular. I also am very fond of that ride and those roads and wouldn't want to take away from it. I personally vote for the October time frame. I think it would be easier to plan, gives us some more time to plan, and many of us will be more free to participate. What do you guys think? |

As long as it is on a Sunday, I don't really care what month it is. |

Did anyone hear from Kim?? I'm assuming that since she didn't post pics, she didn't come back?? Anyway, we have a ride scheduled for this Sunday, too. It's the Memorial Day Weekend, and that means the Red River Rally is going on. If memory serves, our plan will be to meet at the dealership, ride up via the High Road, poke around the fair-like atmosphere in Red River and try to eat while we are there, then ride back (maybe on own). My only issue is that I'm working relatively late on Saturday, so may not be too excited about getting up early Sunday morning to ride all the way to Red River. I was thinking of maybe getting a later start. Nah... there's no sense in that. I'm figuring a three hour ride up there, so let's meed at the shop at 0900 for an 0930 departure (firm). Be gassed up and ready to go. I'm going to try to bring some new faces if I can pry them away from the Hyatt. See youse then. CJ |

I'm sure that Murrea would have let ya all know if I didn't make it back. It was a good trip, as always there was lots of pretty sights, good food and great company. View from the lodge.
The Waterfall just north of Creede.
And the group shoot.

Well, I know like three or four of those people, I think. They look pretty small in that panoramic view! |

I think I'll ride up with you guys, but ride on thru Red River and come right on back. Is that road 434 thru Angel Fire to Mora any good? I was thinking of making a giant loop and bypassing Toas on the return leg and seeing some different sites. I Still gotta be home in time for work. CJ 8:00 at the Warrior 66 again? |

I am pretty sure that the 434 is open and it's ok. Once you get to Mora and then on toward Sipapu, it's much better. I'll meet you at McDonalds in Bernalillo at 0815. It'll be a quick ride up and I could use the extra 15 minutes of sleep! |

Awww... I was late and I thought I missed you. I raced up to Santa Fe, but didn't see you. Only Mabel was at the shop. Then Murrae came down with one of his sons, Aaron. He was riding Murrae's Aprilia Tuano. Anyway, we went to his other sons' tattoo shop and picked up a caravan of people and managed to run into Luis totally by accident. We didn't get far because the Aprilia was sputtering and stalling like crazy. After stopping on St Francis to clean out the plug, they ended up turning around from Pojaque to get a different bike. The rest of us headed up the high road for Taos. I was in the lead with Ben looking large in my rear view mirror. Luis was keeping up pretty well as was Mabel. Nate was hanging more with his other buddies at that point, two of which were on harley's and one on a custom chopper. We stopped for gas in Taos and then turned off to head to Angel Fire and up through Eagles Nest to Red River. That ride was rather brisk, but we still didn't pull into Red River until like 2pm. Murrae and Aaron got there at like 2:30 by going up the low road and straight on via Questa. We ate and farted around for a short time. Murrae, Mabel and a few others went back via Questa and Nate, Ben, Luis, Adam and I went back via the same road we came in on. Unfortunately, I got a speeding ticket between Eagle's Nest & Angel Fire. Clocked me at 84 in a 55. Lucky for me, that was not the top speed I had been going at just a few minutes before that! Anyway, it took forever to come back, as usual. Got home at about 7:30pm. I may go up to Jemez Springs tomorrow. |

Sounds like too much fun! Sorry I missed it. Ya, know you, have been pressing your luck as far as tickets go. So far you've already gotten a pass on two. Ya might wanna re-think always being the one in front. |

"When riding in a group, the tail rider shall pull over to receive the ticket, should an officer of the law pull in behind the group". CJ, if your in front, you should NEVER pull over! LOL Unless of course, the officers blows by everyone else and singles YOU out! |

Well, that's pretty much what happened each of the last two times. This time, everyone stopped and the cop just told them all to hit the road. |

Hey guys, Just wanted to let you guys know that I have a bunch of toys for sale. Without going into great detail we'll just say my personal life has taken a major turn for the worse. The toys are all grouped together on craigslist. Just look for the located in Rio Rancho label. There is a 2003 Blast, a 2004 Bombardier 650 2 seater ATV, a 2005 Polaris Predator 90cc ATV, a 2002 Suzuki LT-50 ATV and one of the cheapo Chinese 90cc pink ATV's. If you are looking for any toys for the kids or yourself or know of someone who is, drop me a line. Need to get rid of some stuff in a hurry. I have a brand new Frank Thomas Ladies Rider pink and black jacket in Medium and pants in small. Both items worn once and look brand new not counting being dusty from laying around. Womens Alpinstar size 7 silver/black street boots worn only a few times. All very nice gear. Make offer. Will consider bullet to back of head in trade. Also, If you know anyone who is interested in vintage Tamiya Radio Control trucks I have several that are either New in Box or New Built and used as collectors show pieces. I guess Luis and I were the only ones who wanted to ride today. Shame, that we didn't meet in the same place. I went to the Coffee at Dawn joint and he went to the dealership. So I ran the Crest and then went over to watch the Track Day. It was great, I saw two guys go down and heard about a third one later. Looked like too much fun. I should have headed straight there and done a half day. |

Perhaps it's because everyone is out riding! I'm out in Phoenix at the moment, and managed to go for a ride up South Mountain here with my girlfriend Debbie, and Kelly, who was on his new GSXR, and his girlfriend Lisette, who was on her Blast. Of course the temps were scorching as usual, we started around 7am, and by noon were heading home to hide out under the air conditioning. LOL

No kidding, it is way too quiet here. We had a great time in Gateway, the road into there is sweet. Mabel and I opted out of riding to Telluride on Sat. Since, it was the same route we road in and were taking out again. We went out on 4 wheelers instead for about 3+ hours on the private ranch. Then we went kayaking on the river for a couple more hours. Then we got back and I hung out in the pool for awhile before we all had dinner. Murrea and Mabel left before me and headed straight back. I hung out and went up to Telluride had a late breakfast and then stayed in Durango with some friends. It really was a nice ride. Mark your calendars for next year, they are talking about moving it up a month so that it won't be too hot to do Moab. |

YOu guys are crazy! my handgrips are practically melting off of the S2, and the levers burn your fingers when you ride in the afternoon. 115 degrees, you like that? UGH! |

I didn't say I was going NOW. I was thinking sometime in the fall maybe when it cools off. Or even in the winter when it's cold here and warm there. By the way, those grips will stop melting if you turn off the heater. I knew those heated grips were a bad idea! |
