I wasn't riding any of the choppers. TC only had 4 bikes available for demos, so the dealership gave us a couple of street bobs to ride. Which wasn't really all that bad of a ride. May 18th and 19th are the Buell Demo days at Hals. That should be even MORE fun. We've already got Ron Vissers for Saturday, and me for Friday & Saturday. Who else is in for helpin' out? Another reminder, Wednesday, 6:45PM at Hals is our monthly meeting. June 2nd and 3rd are the AMA races up at Elkhart. Lets all get up there and cheer Dan Bilansky on for his 1st AMA FX race. Should be a GOOD time! Besides, Bud will be working in the Buell booth. Lets get up there and bug him I've got some alternative, very nice routes up there that will avoid the construction To all those that attended the Slimey Crud run, thanks. It was a good time. Pretty cool that Greg Avello joined us. Not often we get a bonafide Buell celebrity in our group Our "Buell parking lot" looked pretty good. I'll post a few pics sometime this week on our site. |

LOL! The mile and a half of our off-roading excursion was somewhat interesting. But I don't think Brian on his S1 would appreciate that type of ride And besides, what are you doing on here? Don't you have kids to watch?

He saw Mckay on the bike, I explained the extra a in Mackay !! Turns out it was Shane (T-Bolt), we were the only 2 Buells in that group so glad he helped me (or me him : ) represent !! |

CJ me Brian and Greg from IL saw you and Heather ride through Leland. We really didn't see much because we got there pretty late. Was definitely a good day. Overall about 425 miles that resulted in three rear tires that need immediate replacement. |

See my post in the Crud Run thread over in the Quick Board ... www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/4062/27608 5.html?1178569309 Tire pictures included ... as well as the story of my weekend - starting Friday with Bilansky's truck - my forks, steering head bearings to a blown head gasket (nothign like tearing your bike down to nothing 8 hours before the Crud Run !!! ) to 3 tires that had us all a little worried about the slab ride back to Milwaukee ... Was a great time of course !!! Matt - your tire showed up today - and guess what ? It IS a Diablo !!! (Message edited by tattoodnscrewd on May 07, 2007) |

Freeflyer --- Sorry it took so long .. I have had an interesting past week or so ... but here is a pic of the rack .. I just put it on the seat for size comparison .. you can also see by the pic how it would mount - it requires the seat and tail to be removed, but that isn't a big deal .. even when I do mount it - it won't be permanent, which is why it isn't on - I will put it on when the long road trips/camping weekends come, and then take it off shortly there-after ...

If you want to see a Venture rack mounted on an M2 look for a pic of mine, there's one on the site here someplace. In the mean time all I could find was this one which BluzM2 took a few years ago, and yes there is a Ventura rack buried on there someplace. One set of saddlebags were being delivered to Brad, the rest of the stuff was along for the cross-country ride.

Wife called on her way into work this morning, said some guy southbound on a bike on the freeway hit a deer. Bike was mangled and laying on the shoulder, deer was splattered all over, the rider was up walking around with a few people stopping to help. She thought it might be a sport type bike of some sort. I assume it was I-43 between Grafton and Mequon, but could have been I-45 south of Good Hope. Anyway, be carefull out there folks. Would have sucked to mess up the headlight I just put in the S2 last night. |

Hey everyone, I need some thoughts, ideas and hopefully suggestions on hauling two bikes to Arkansas weekend May 19-20th, along with a U-Haul full of furniture & belongings ?? U-haul does have a trailer I could rent and pull along behind the Uhaul, but it’s expensive, if I have to go that route will do it. But someone suggested if there’s room the bikes could be strapped in the back of the uhaul? Is this something anyone’s done, seen done, heard of being done, or a stupid, stupid idea ?? How hard would it be to get the bikes into the uhaul, I know they have those narrow ramp thingies? We’ll be taking a couple of days and riding the bikes back to WI via scenic route, I’m excited !! That means that borrowing or renting a trailer through any other place won’t be possible as it would be kind of hard to haul another trailer behind a bike on trip back north !! I’ll be here I WI another month of so and want my bike with me, even though it probably means shipping it back to Arkansas when I go for good !! |

The ramps on the back of the u-haul are actually bigger than most ramps that people use for loading bikes ... longer too - so the incline will not be as bad. As far as strapping them down, I would say only if there are D-rings or something similar in the floor of the truck that would allow for attaching straps. If they did, hauling them would be no big deal. Maybe go take a look before you get the truck, or ask if they have a truck with hooks/d-rings in it. |

Don't even dream of telling U-Haul that you'll be hauling a motorcycle inside their enclosed truck, and especially not inside one of their van-nosed trucks with the doorway from the cab to the back (or maybe that was a Ryder truck). I've strapped one to the siderails with cinch straps, but someone said they pulled a siderail loose from the truck doing that. Strap them down good, load soft stuff around them like mattresses and such, and it "should" be okay. Sounds like you're getting ready to move back home later this summer. Gonna miss you up here if you do, but you have to follow where your heart leads if it leads to happyness. Besides, with places like BadweB, there are no real geographic distances between friends, just physical miles between actual smiles, but heart felt smiles are always just a computer screen away. You might also look into those receiver mount motorcycle carriers that plug into the 2" trailerhitch receiver mounts. I think Northern has them and they moved recently to down on highway 100/108th near the HoBo's store just south of I-94. Or just watch Craigslist or hit some place that sells used trailers and find a suitable one for a few hundred dollars that you can take southward and leave it down there for later use, or sell it when you arrive. A used trailer might be cheaper or at least close enough to renting a one-way trailer to make it worth considering. This one would work nicely: (Edit: link deleted since the seller removed his trailer from the local craigslist, probably sold it to someone.) Or I've got a 4x6 that I'd trade for that 4X8 if that 4x8 is a little too big for your needs. (Message edited by mikej on May 11, 2007) |

When I moved out to Colorado, I packed my bike in the back of a rental truck. I strapped it to the side rails and then put my matress and box spring in next. The bike arrived in perfect condition. On a side note...those ramps are a LOT steeper than they look!!! We needed to find a small hill to help get the bike in & out of the truck. |

So CJ is moving back to the south.... Good luck, have fun, stay out of trouble....err nevermind. I have been keeping busy. Work is almost non-stop. Most of my riding has been commuting. Oh well. Baby Boy King (no name yet) tried to show up about 6 weeks early on Mother's Day. Got that taken care of, and put Mom on bed rest. Yeah for me, I get to do everything! Other than that, everything is good here. I have hauled a bike in a U-haul full of furniture the same way Lake and Mikej did. Worked fine. |

Kinger, get away for a while Saturday and ride down to Hals for the demo days. Take a test ride, and get a new bag No can do this Saturday. Grace has her dance recital. Went to Kutter Monroe last Friday after work with a friend of mine. Test rode the Uly and re-test rode a 9R. I liked the Uly. It was a little weird sitting so straight up, but definitley had all day comfort. Got the bag too. Works well for commuting. Looks like I will be testing the water resistance on the way home tonight. Steve, do you still have a bunch of extra S3 body parts? |
