Just to describe.. it's a new PPG color, "Hot Wheels" med blue. There where about 10 stages including the flames. Plastic adhesive promoter, primer, black, silver, clear, flames, two coats color, un-tape flames, two more coats of color, then several coats of clear.. still needs some final buff, but it's smooth and shines like crazy now. I polished the wheels, then they where painted blue in the center, sides of frame are polished, parts of the swing arm, rear brake rotor,..fabicated an aluminum rear fender, polished, reflects the flames from the under tail... it is very bright. Looking for ride suggestions in the VA/DC area. I'm coming over on my FJR (not that the RS1200 couldn't make it, but where would I put all my gear?) for two weeks of training in Reston, Va. I'd planned on going straight to Deal's Gap, then up the Blue Ridge Parkway. The middle weekend I'll be there the wife is flying in with plans to see her cousin in Virgina Beach at some point, so we were thinking getting to Deleware somehow and going down 9 then eventually 13? then across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. We'd need to get back to DC either that way or another, and I'm looking for things to do after class when I'll be staying near Wash/Dulles airport. How long should the Blue Ridge Parkway take to ride from Cherokee, NC to Reston? |

Deerhunter - looks great! I'm jealous...having just roached the trans in my S1W on the way home tonight.....grrrrrrr........ Neutral position seems to net me fourth or fifth gear (2k rpm at 45mph), and putting it in any gear with the shifter nets me an instantly locked wheel and stalled motor. Whoops, heheh....took me a bit to pull the seat outta my puckered butt after sliding down Bethel road on a locked rear for a little over 50' (I broke it going into second). Then for extra weirdness, I got to ride home (thankfully only about 1/2 mile) at 45mph...in neutral. <sigh> Great looking paint though. Mark did a great job, as always! |

Josh.. The BRP depends on how fast you wanna run it.. How hard do you push yourself? It's usually at least three days (all the way up) and that's not really stopping for scenery or tourist type stuff. It's a good 400+ miles at a maximum posted of 45mph. If you do the last stretch North (Skyline Drive) it's only 25mph and toll and that would take a full four days to run for sure. Also, there's not a lot on the BRP as far as gas, food, lodging, so you need to figure in time to get to and from these things. As far as things to do once you're up 'our' way. Aside from hookin' up with some of us and runnin' around a bit, there are some great roads in the NoVa/MD/WVa region so we can give you more then your share of runs. Depending on the timing, there is racing at Summit Point. A ton of back roads in the Dulles area you would have fun riding. Depending on where you're staying some of them could be less then 5 minutes away. There's a lot of good food in the Dulles area as well as the usual distractions (movies etc.) there's also some good sightseeing if you're wife is in the mood (horse country) as well as all the historic stuff in and around town. If you want something specific, drop an PM and we should be able to get you pointed in the right direction. Oh and welcome to the area (albeit temporarily)! PM me and let me know where you're staying and where the training is and I should be able to give you a couple of 'nice' ways to get there and back. |

I'm rethinking the BRP, I might just run down to Deal's Gap then interstate it up to Dulles. I'll be at the Wash/Dulles Hilton taking a class approx 3 miles away. Class ought to get out at 4:30 or so each day. |

The Black Hat will be there Sunday for sure. Looks like I'm already booked for Saturday. Josh - Cool, we'll get out and buzz around a few nice roads I know. The Udvar-Hazy (air & space museum annex) is pretty cool as well, plan to check it out. Also, they have an Imax theater there and will run current films there as well as the usual docu stuff. |

Me and the missus will be going from DC to PHI to NYC with stops in between on our vacation the middle of May. So where are the best Buell dealers along this route? Thanks. |

Limey.. Depending on your route, there are Frederick, Ft. Washington and Old Glory in MD. Old Glory is new, so we really don't have any information on them yet, but they seem to be very pro Buell. Liberty in New Jersey is good. The Service Manager at Winchester HD in VA is a racer so he's very Buellish - not so sure about the rest of the store. I've heard some good things about Battlefield in PA. Anyone else have some good reports for our traveling friend? |

The HD Store just outside Baltimore has a great Service Dept. Scott, the head of service is a Buell Guy, and if you head inland a little, Lancaster HD also has a good Buell service tech. Not sure about sales support for either location. I have also had a few dealings with battlefield for parts and such, and they are a great outfit. |

Blublak, Deltablue, Ratbuell... This is terrific! Thanks for the info! It looks like Liberty is fairly close to NYC ...never can tell...places in Kansas are so spread out compared to the east coast. Ten miles and a three herd of buffalo between hiway exits out here. The others I'll have to look closer at on a map. Toto and Dorothy thank you, too. |

Yep, one exit away from the Udvar-Hazy. 250 through WV to Staunton is pretty nice, the best part in WV is up near Cameron. Lots of nice towns after you get into the middle/south of the state. I need to figure out where my training class is for tomorrow. So who's where? |

Hey Josh.. I'm in Sterling.. Just down 28 from the Udvar-Hazy. 33 is also a nice route from WV to VA. I've ridden them both, 250 has some pretty serious twists in it. Don't forget to stop at the ' Confederate Breastworks' and enjoy the view before you make the last leg down towards the towns. If you're riding East on 250 before you hit the slab, hang a left onto 42 and take it North, from 250 to Bridgewater is a really nice set of sweepers and rise and fall type roads (great view of the mountains as well). Then you can hit 33 East (although West is still more fun) and then work your way up that way. Unless you're planning on slabbing it North, if you do, just remember that 18 wheelers on 81 cruise in the lower 70's - 80's and they will do 'brush passes' on unsuspecting bikes. |

I won't be back on 250, but I'm looking for routes for when the wife gets here this weekend. I'm thinking of a picnic on Skyline Drive one day and a trip through Delaware and across the bay bridge one day. Otherwise I'm studying for my class and watching TV. |

Well, Blublak brought a bunch of SportFest pics by the dealer today, and WOW. Nice stuff! I may have to buy a couple for myself just to have 'em... Other than that...the S1Ws trans is being micropolished and rebuilt (the mainshaft was walking sideways allowing a gear to slide where it didn't belong)...we're going to do our first XB DirectLink this week....and I've been riding the wheels off the S2 every chance I get. Oh..and I figured I'd post just to keep our listings current, LOL! |
