Hey guys. I went by Rocket HD the other day and they 2 used Buells. One is an 04 XB12S for 6450 the other is an 05 XB12S for 6950. How is Rocket HD as far as buying from them? What about their service? When i was looking at the bikes I had a salesman come up right away and he seemed to know a bit about the bikes. Pretty knowledgeable guy. Would you guys buy from them? |

They will sell you a bike really good. Service, well, that is another story. They don't like to deal with Buells, and it shows. Their buell tech (I think his name is Andy) is a good guy, and knows what he is doing for the most part. However, they don't stock ANYTHING for buells, and to get something takes 2 weeks. Flyor seemed to have a problem ordering somethig a while back. They didn't want to order a part for his bike unless he left the bike until it came in. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Flyor went to Bumpus HD/Buell near Nashville and said they were good to work with. Do you remember who the salesman was? They guy who sold me my cityX didn't even recognize it at a local bike night a few weeks later. He was asking me what it was?? I thought he was joking... but he wasn't. I think his name was Mike, but I could be wrong. Keep us informed, and when you get one, we all need to get out for a ride. It would be nice to have another Bueller in the vicinity. Jfor I don't know what you're after, or the differences between the r & s, but thought it wouldn't hurt to mention, there is an 04 xb12r in the classifieds in chattanoogan.com-2000 mi, $6475obo, don't know if it's still for sale, or anything about it. Caught my attention, it's rare to see one around here, for sale or otherwise. Rotzaruck!!! |

I have been interested in Buell's since I saw one for the first time 1998. I was at the HOG rally in Dothan with my parents. Dad is a long time Harley owner/rider. If it hadn't of been for the Army I am pretty sure he would have been a 1% hehe. Anyways, they had an autocross deal setup in this parking lot and I saw my first Buell. I fell in love with it. I have always wanted a Harley because that was what I grew up around, but I also wanted a sport bike. When i saw the Harley in the sport bike frame I fell in love. I was only in college back in 1998 so I had to put my wants in the back of my mind for awhile. Fast forward a few years, I have a good job, I am single and looking for a bike. I honestly don't care if it's a 12s or a 12r, I just want one. Will definitely let ya'll know when I get one. In the mean time if ya see a white 96 Mustang GT gawking at your bike and waving that be me! |

Jfor There's another one in the Badweb classifieds, says he really ready to let it go, but it's WAY up yonder. Sure would be a nice ride home though. I was an impressionable kid when my not much older, highly looked up to, uncle was screamin around on his Sportster, just sure I'd have to have a Harley one day, but though I wanted an American made, I was having trouble really wanting what I thought I wanted. Then I discovered Buells, got my wife one, realized I REALLY needed one too. Haven't had ours long, but think we're all going to be very happy together. Rotzaruck!! |

Jfor- As Ratyson stated, Rocket is great for selling you a bike...they'll treat you like royalty right up 'til you ring that bell... As for anything afterwards...service, parts, accessories...let's just say it's painful. I can honestly say, after mutliple attempts to deal with them, that they simply do not care about us buellers and likely never will. I'll keep this short...but if you look back in the archives under this forum you can read my rants about my encounters with them. Ratyson also had it correct that I no longer go there for anything. I drive about 89 miles up the road to Bumpus HD/Buell in Murfreesboro. It is worth it. They service my bike while I wait (about 2.5 hours), and they have parts in stock and a decent accessories section (although it has been better in the past). The Service Manager, Steve, is a bueller and seems to really care. Bottom line is you can feel confident and comfortable purchasing a bike from them...heck, you may even have better luck with them with follow-on support. Ratyson seems to do okay there, but not stellar. Good luck; looking forward to seeing you on the road. Scott |

Just to let everyone know. I stopped by Rocket HD yesterday. Starting April 15 they are having demo days. Come in and demo a Buell and the are giving you the messenger bag free. I still haven't gotten my Buell yet, working on the financial issues. BTW divorces suck ass for your credit. Hopefully within the month things will be squared away and I can be on two wheels! Also, I may be joining ya'll sooner than I expected. I found a very nice XB for sale I am going to look at Saturday. I am not posting where and for how much just yet because I want it to still be there this Saturday when i got to look at it. Cross your finger for me! (Message edited by jfor on April 12, 2007) |

If you happen to demo a Buell from Rocket that doesn't have at least one fouled plug, you know its time to head north to TN for a lottery ticket. I stopped by there the other day to check up on one of my friends teaching an ERC and happened to start a conversation with one of the new techs covering for Allen while he was away getting married. One of the first things out of his mouth was about the sales staff STILL fouling them constantly. Most of you guys know my history. I'm amazed it hasn't sunk in yet, I harped something fierce to them about that. Jfor, Take heed when buying from them. For many years the sales staff knew nothing about the bikes. In fact, it was so bad that If I happened to have been in the dealer the sales staff would hunt me down to answer questions and inform the potential customer about the bike-their job, not mine. Later on, I worked there for a while; I finally taught sales the things they should have already known. They are much better about that now. It seems sales have gotten into the brand lately. There is one Buell tech. His name is Allen. He rocks when it comes to our bikes, just make sure you associate with him directly if possible. He used to ride an XB9S. If you're going to need a part or accessory, be sure you order it ahead of time as nothing but the servicing basics are kept in stock (gaskets, etc). Tires are exempt from that statement. Any other questions, have at 'em. How is everyone? |

Hopefully. I found out that my front isolator is bad, and seems to have come that way from the factory. I am working on getting it covered by Buell even though my bike is now out of warranty. I figure I can still ride it as is, I just neet to be careful. The symptom right now is a feeling of riding over rumble strips when I get on the front break at speed. |

been there...done that...didn't get a t-shirt tho... I assume you're going thru SMDH? If anyone will take care of you on that, they will. BTW, they're about $70 with the badwebber discount from SMDH if you can't get the warranty to cover it. ----- Dave - got the VDSTS with no problems and used it today actually. Looks like I had a bad ECM after the 07 re-flash I had Appelton's do. I'm going to ride it some more to make sure but when I hooked up my ECM, the settings were all over the place...again. Kevin Drum, of Drummer fame, hooked me up with a stock 06 XB12 ECM and I reset it with your laptop and all seems to be back to normal for now. I'll post an update this week. If you don't mind, I'd like to hold on to the VDSTS for a week or two just to be sure. Of course, if you need it back sooner just let me know. Thanks, Scott |

Hey Scott, I am starting to wonder about if it is going to come through with buell covering it. I have emailed Scot Ferguson twice since MBIV and have not gotten a responce from him yet. He is the buell engineer that I talked to on Sunday at MBIV, he told me to email him the particulars on my bike, and he would get things worked out. I guess I need to get your cooler back to you. Let me know when you want me to bring it to you. Russ |

Russ, No worries on the cooler for now. we'll link up one of these days. I'd call Cameron at SMDH if I were you and see what he says. He may be able to help. Good luck. Let me know if you need anything. Scott |

I think I will do that. I got an email from Scot today. I had sent a picture with it that 'sort of' shows the isolator. Scot says that he thinks it looks ok. I may send a better picture over to SMHD and see what they think. |

well, if you're getting the hard vibrations under braking that sounds like the isolator to me...the exact same symptom I had. And you saw mine...it was f'd up ---- BTW the bike is running like a champ so far. It seems that ECM re-flash was the culprit. |

BTW the bike is running like a champ so far. It seems that ECM re-flash was the culprit. Great news! Was that the reflash from American sportbike? If so, you may want to let them know so they can look into it.} |

Nah, not the American Sportbike re-flash. I did it thru Appleton's...and if this holds, I will give them a heads up for sure. |

No hurry over the laptop and software Scott. if you need another stock ECM for whatever reason, I have one of those too. No one has any info on the AL taxes? AMA at Barber's this weekend. Looked for the idiot w/shaved head wearing a Buell t-shirt! DAve |

Thanks Dave! I don't have any info on the taxes, sorry. I can share what it will cost to renew mine in May when that happens, but you probably already have an idea on that huh? I really really want to go to Barber's this weekend, but I may not be able to. I've been out of town a lot lately and have a huge honey-do list this weekend. l8r |

I saw someone the other day in Madison on a 12R. It was black with the red wheels and wind screen. Sweet looking bike. I am still trying to find my bike. Just when i start getting money saved I have to put a clutch in the Mustang this weekend. |

Unfortunately my list does not include Barber's at this time... I confirmed with "the boss" last night. Even used my nicest "oh wo is me" voice...to no avail. I'll be painting and hedging and clipping and you name it... Enjoy the races! |

Dave, Were you part of the pack of three Buell's I saw parked in the lot closest to the Indian Chief on Friday? I think I saw a Ulysses, CityX and Lightning. I sat with the FBR folks who had a few tarps staked out just below the Chief (they went over Thursday night to stake em). I may be over there again today (not sure, since today my family comes with me). If you see a short (5'9") guy in jeans, with a white shirt (on Saturday anyway :-)), glasses and a black FBR hat, ask him if he's Henk/DutchBoy Later, Henk |

WOW-- The amount of people at the AMA's this past weekend was phenomenal! Whoever didn't make it, you missed a great event. I saw yesterday that Barber's has been rated by a Speed Channel poll as the best track in the US-- it received 49% of the votes. |
