Hugh, I would have thought they could have done those three things in 30 min., but even at an hr.you still ought to have it done. Glad to hear they at least sound interested. Let me know how it goes, always looking for a place with good feedback...............Charlie |

Just in case any of you SC Buellers missed it, LaFayette forwarded an e-mail from the new Thundertower Harley/Buell dealership to us earlier this week. The dealership is located just off I-20 between Columbia and Camden, SC, near Elgin, SC. They're having "grand opening" festivities starting this Saturday and continuing for about a month. They've got a Buell sign on the building, and several Buells in stock (XB12X's, XB12R's, Blasts last time I checked) but no Buell accessories or gear that I could find. As Oilrigpilot notes above, the owners appear to be new at this game. I was thinking this might be a good opportunity for another "SC Buell Riders" meet and if enough of us show up at the dealership, MAYBE someone there will take note that there ARE some Buell riders in SC and MAYBE take some steps to actively promote, sell, and take care of Buells. I'm open this weekend if anyone's interested in doing this Saturday or Sunday. If another weekend works better for you please speak up. It's about 100 miles from here (near Charleston), but there are some decent backroads that can be taken to get there if you're near me and want to avoid 240 miles of interstate slab. Any takers? I just made a post on this to the "Carolina Corner Carvers" (C3) forum. Maybe we can get some North Carolina riders to join us. |

It's not a bad drive from Charlotte so depending on the weather I might be able to make it. Are you guys still planning on going and if so what time are you planning on being there? |

Spectrum, I need to get down that way and pick Charlie's brain. Where you leaving from -- in the Charlotte area? It's looking like a pretty wet weekend. I'm working in Ballantyne. G2 |

Spectrum & Bigdaddy, I've only gotten one reply so far besides Charlie's post above. The e-mail's at home and I don't recall the guy's name, he's in Columbia, but he said he could make it Sunday. The weather looks pretty good for Sunday (<30% chance of rain for Charlotte, Columbia, and Charleston). According to the dealership's website http://www.thundertowerharley.com/ they're giving away free food from 2 PM to 4 PM. Maybe we could show up around 1 PM? If you guys want to show up Sunday, that'd be great. Maybe we can get a few more interested between now and Sunday. E-mail me at whodom2001 [at] yahoo [dot] com if you can make it. |

Well I was at Thundertower today, but sorry to say I missed you guys. I was late getting on the road so I didn't get there till 2:30 and stayed till 5:00. Meet another badwebber though, Faster_firebolt (Dave). We hung out, eat some food, browsed the showroom and listened to the Band, Meet the owner Gene Preston. Told him about Badweb and how we came to the Grand Opening to support a new Buell dealership. He had lots of question about how to connect with the Buell type customers and where do we ride in SC. Unfortunately I couldn't answer the last question. (Message edited by spectrum on August 13, 2006) |

Bryan, Dang, sorry we missed you. Nnelligan and I got there about 12:30; Rcontroler showed up about 1. We hung out until about 2:20 so you just missed us. Glad you got to talk to the owner. Nnelligan has talked to him before and said he seems like a nice guy. We saw some younger guys talking to a salesman about a black Uly so the Buells are getting some interest. Noticed that they had a 2007 yellow/black XB12R on the floor; that's the first 07 I've seen. It was pretty sharp. We left the dealership and rode a "loop" around Lake Wateree, up to Great Falls and back down to Camden via highway 97. There are some decent curves (although not real twisties) in the area. Well, I guess we had 5 Buells there (unfortunately not all at once). Man, the weather was gorgeous today; not too hot and not a drop of rain. I got home about 7:15 PM and had put about 350 miles on my S3 today. Whew! I won't get a chance to ride again for about a week so I'm glad I did while I could. We'll have to have another group gathering sometime soon. |

Dang, we did just miss. I would have actually got there at 2:15, but missed the turn on to Pontiac the first time by. Was frustrating, I could see the dealership, but drove a loop around it before I found the road in. Sorry I missed the group ride. It was a nice day to ride and I really enjoyed it! |

I have to go to Greenville for a few days this week, would like to take one of the bikes with me if I can work it out. Nice roads up there. Hope the new dealer felt like he was getting Buell support, its always good to have a friendly one............Charlie |

Charlie, It was pretty bleak looking when I left Summerville but ~20 miles up the rode the sun came out and stayed out all day. Temp in the morning was perfect- mid 70's and low humidity. (August in SC???) Even mid-afternoon it wsan't too hot (mid-80's maybe?). There are some great roads around Greenville. Take 276 north/west out of Greenville up to Caesar's Head. Great twisties as you climb the mountain. Stop at the park and walk over to the overlook for the best view in SC. Walk a little further and see Caesar's Head rock formation. Continue up 276 to Brevard, NC; lots of places to eat. Go west on 64, then south on 178 back down into SC (GREAT road). Back down in SC, take 11 east back over to 276 and on to Greenville. This loop works great in either direction. If headed south on 178, watch out for hard left turn onto narrow concrete sided bridge immediately followed by hard right (about 1/2 way down). A real butt clincher! There's a hangout located at the bridge where some bikes are usually stopped. I've been told there's a dirt road behind the club leads to a neat waterfall. Have a good trip. |

Charlie, We gotta get at least one run in this summer -- what you think? I know I'm terrible about missing everything ( I did make Daytona,,,so that's worth sumpin sumpin.) I can't do anything on Sundays -- I go get mom out of the rehab-center (yea, it's a nursing home) and take her to church with us and then bring her home for the day.) Saturday's are pretty wide open for me right now in my current employment, but I've got a bid in on a contract in RTP that'll take me away weekends if I win and I'll probably get it. Let's go get some BBQ :-) G2 |

Hugh, My youngest son lives almost at the top of Paris Mtn. so I'll more than likely be riding close to there. He keeps me pretty busy doing manuel labor(something neither of my sons like) while I'm there. But I'm going to write that route down and try to make sure I get a chance to try it(if not this trip, then the next) while I am still able.......Charlie |

Charlie, I'm sure you'll find some good roads to try. You can probably do that loop in about 2 hours if you don't stop to eat in Brevard. Hugh |

FB, FB2 and Jim Attebery (others hopefully coming) will be having dinner at Liberty Tap and Grill (828 Gervais St) in Columbia around 6 or 7 pm on the 2nd. Good place with plenty of atmosphere and a ton of brews on tap. Anyone who'd like to come down and share some stories/food/cold beer is more than welcome and it would be a great chance for everyone to meet some Badwebbers. If you'd like to ride on down just give me a heads up so I can update the reservation...hope to see a few of all there! FB2 |

Hey Everybody, I live in GA, but I fly for a company out of Bluffton SC and fly to Charleston a couple times a week. Would that count to be part of the group. Mostly I ride by myself, but it's sort of like being the only one in a circle jerk. Couple guys have Buells in SAV, but we don't ride together. I have a 12Scg, and used to have a 9Sl. |
