> who else was there that was video taping that ride over to the corner. I had my camera rolling at the back of the column. Highway 60 Wolf Pen Gap I didn't ride anywhere near Mountainrider's pace, but I had fun and didn't pucker my seat up. |

Hi Jerry...Just hope I did not bore you to death. You and Denise are good people! Might try to spend a night at the refurbished Laurel Springs with Patty before the month's end. I'll let you know soon if I'll be heading that way. Take care ... |

I know Shred has a camera on his bike (the blue firebolt), but I don't know if he was recording or not. |

Hi Jerry...Just hope I did not bore you to death. You and Denise are good people! Twig, i was hoping the same thing but the other way around! i guess that's a good sign, when two people who barely know each other can BS and ramble on like they're old friends. as for me 'n D being "good people," well, you're absolutely correct about Denise... hooking up at Station's Inn sounds good, pls keep us posted. I stayed in Suches and rode until Tuesday, when the rains came. That day, I got stopped for passing the Sheriff of Union County on a double yellow on Wolf Pen. He was in an unmarked Ford Expedition and lit me up just as I passed. Unbelievabley, he let me go with just a small verbal warning! All he said was, "Stay safe and come back again - we know how you guys like the mountain roads, just share them with consideration". I gotta say Sheriff Stephens of Union County Georgia gives great advice that should be followed. I can't wait until March! |

Unmarked cannot give you a ticket, and if he calls in an officer the ticket will not stand because the officer who wrote the ticket did not witness the event. Neverenough, Mountainrider was filming, but all you see is the road, he passed all of us on a SV650. http://media.putfile.com/Buell-Octoberfest-2007 |

DJ, Glad the Sheriff understands the fun that can be had up there, even though I am sure some of the locals are less than enthusiastic about motorycles tailgating, zipping around them, etc.... Violations of nearly all Georgia traffic laws are misdemeanors. Meaning that moving violations such as speed, passing in a no passing zone and equipment violations such as improperly displayed tag, no turn signals, etc. could cost you a trip to the pokey ... Food for thought.... Not sure about Ga, but in Florida you CAN be pulled over by any LEO in whatever type of vehicle they happen to be in (marked, unmarked, motorcycle, ATV, boat, bicycle, on foot, etc.) Also in Florida, a LEO can witness a violation and relay that information to another LEO and the 2nd LEO can issue the ticket or arrest you based on the information from the 1st LEO. |

fl. gets away with it in speed traps. the one shooting is hardly the one pulling you over. new, i thought there was one other person filming besides mountain and sanchez. when we got to the corner, he came up and looked at the helmet or bag and said he had some of me.(not that i'm that vain or anything) |

Never... mostly small towns or HUGE agencies run speed traps... the ones in the middle USUALLY don't have the manpower... FHP runs them sporadically and sometimes with the airplane |

Yeah, I've seen the FHP out hunting in packs on holidays. One guy shoots radar or laser from the bridge, while at least 3 other cars wait below to make the stops. Fortunately the GSP can't do that. I drive pretty slow unless provoked by Corvettes, though, so it mostly doesn't matter. |

Union county is alright but in Lumpkin you would have been hauled to jail. |

"a LEO can witness a violation and relay that information to another LEO and the 2nd LEO can issue the ticket or arrest you based on the information from the 1st LEO." Sheriff Stephens' backup was just a half mile up the road from us when he pulled me over. Had I not stopped and tried to elude (easy enough on that road), his backup would have been waiting me. As it was, he came driving up and asked the Sheriff how it was going, and the Sheriff replied, "Just askin' this guy for directions...". The Sheriff's vehicle was unmarked, but the license plate clearly said, "Sheriff" next to the numbers. The guy would get my vote if I lived in Union County. I took it easy for the rest of that day, too, like I promised him I would. |

Why is it that I always get the cops that DON'T talk...just give out tickets??? I got popped for 75 in a 60 in NC on my way home and all he did was ask for my license and came back with the ticket...didn't even ask for my registration... |

Just a surprise to me...it's required documentation in MA... Any tips on fighting the ticket in court? I have one court date in CT on Friday for a ticket a couple months ago. I also have 3 letters from different lawyers in NC offering their services to represent me (without my being present) in court down there to get me out of the that ticket...never seen that before! |

i just paid the ticket and did the online school. i'm hoping i can avoid another ticket for quite a while now. i'm getting to old to play a young mans game. btw-the chances of winning against a speeding ticket are like slim to a snow balls chance in hell unless you got money to blow. |

Well I had my day in court for my speeding ticket in CT...got it reduced from $385 to $100 and that $100 in court fees so I should not be getting hit for points on my license. I'll take that! |

so what did you have to do to get it reduced if you don't mind saying. |
