George: Chances Of Indy USGP Better Than 50-50 by dean adams Tuesday, March 20, 2007 As a guest on Dave Despain's Wind Tunnel television show on Sunday night, Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Tony George spoke about the possible USGP at IMS in 2008. In the interview, conducted by Despain, George stated that IMS looked at both World Superbike and MotoGP when they were considering adding a motorcycle round to their schedule, and that through "due diligence" they "settled on MotoGP". George said that they did have discussions with World Superbike regarding a 2008 round at IMS. Asked by Despain to give his opinion of the likelihood of the facility holding a MotoGP round in 2008, George said "probably better than 50-50." |

I'm going to toss this out there for everyone to consider, as a possible location / itinerary for our next RIDE meeting. This past weekend while "exploring" Indy, I came upon something I didn't expect. I've done a little research since, and have uncovered that the place I "discovered" is called Monument Circle (popular) or more specifically, Soldiers' & Sailors' Monument. I happened upon this little gem yesterday and did the brick paved circle that was chock-a-block full of (since I was there) every kind of bike! Hip restaurants, bars, and a Hard Rock Indy were all right there for the taking. I think we should get a big Buell (and any non-Buellers too!) group together and let the V-Twins descend! ...Say, all meet at Hard Rock for lunch & meeting? It’s not exactly the break room at HD/B-B, but it should work! (Many thanks for the aforementioned break room, beverages and pizza!!) Soldiers' & Sailors' Monument Located at the center of Indianapolis on Monument Circle, this 284-foot limestone monument was dedicated in 1902 and stands as a tribute to the valor of Indiana's soldiers and sailors who served in the Civil and Spanish American Wars. An observation tower provides a panoramic view of the skyline. I’m sure that some you already know about this, and most likely have some useful input. Let’s hear it! RIDE on. |

We have a Skilled Rider's Course on April 14th ( our next meeting date ) and I would love to attend the INDY Lunch, but duty calls. By all means I believe, as Buelet does, we need to get out and show the world what we ride. Meeting at different sites through the riding months should be the rule not the exception. Gather the storm!

Tell me more about the Skilled Rider's Course. Not Rider's Edge, right? Track? Maybe I should already know, but... |

Buelet I really like going downtown to the circle 'Monument Circle' I go at least 3 times a week for work and at least once a month on the Buell. Pete an I hang there when we both find time. Lots of HD's and super bikes surrounding the circle, Mostly a hangout/ showoff your bike kinda place, friendly people. But mostly a nightlife for bikes, but still a great place to go, but more than an hour there is to long if your just sitting on your bike. I agree we should have a huge Buell turnout and showoff the Buells, I'm sure they havn't seen more than 2 or 3 Buells there in a years time. I'd like to see the Buells from tire to tire cover the entire circle, That would be impressive. So lets get on the horn and make this happen..Twisty's will always be much more fun. But I think that making an appearance to a large group of people that for the most part have not seen the Hoosier Thunder would be Awsome. |

I'm not much into the park and gawk thing myself, but maybe for a short time... like long enough to grab lunch! And maybe for a short while before or after... You know, long enough for the Buell presence to be noticed. I'd rather meet and then go ride, rather than sit around trying to look cool. But hey, I'm flexible. As far as meeting down around the Buelet-Skeeter territory, that sounds good too. I'd hate to be a bad host, but I don't really know where to suggest we ride around my neck of the woods. The 15 mile or so stretch past my house, between Paris & Terre Haute isn't too bad, but it's not the Dragon! When's the next meeting? |

I just want to touch base. I live about 50 miles east of Indy off of I-74. There is some good riding in the Ohio Valley. |

Take Exit 149 off of I-74 and turn left (North)A couple of miles later you are into some good riding roads. There are also some good roads to the south. |

Looking for some Buell action? Putnam Park Road Course (www.putnampark.com) has a racing series going on this weekend that features Buells in endurance and sprint racing. Josh Guyer, racer for HD/B is racing this event and it would be a great ride to do Sunday if you have the time. Buelet, the Skilled Rider Course is the Rider's Edge "advanced" course. Similar to the Experienced Rider Course the state offers but with the H-D/Buell flavor. I have some distressing news from HD/B Bloomington. While attending the All Harley Drags (www.ahdra.com)in Phoenix, Az. during dinner the race rig was stolen while parked at a local Outback! The motorhome, trailer and Destroyer's along with EVERYTHING else was taken. I won't go into details but rather wait for Jeff to return so we can have an accurate description of the events. Suffice to say it is a great loss and a heavy blow to the dealership. Jeff continues to race with the help of the race community on borrowed equipment and we wish him and the race team our best this weekend. |

Count me in for the racing, I will be there. That sucks about the race rig. I hope they catch the loosers that stole it. |

14 April- http://moonshine-run.com/Moonshine/ This seems pretty cool. It's not a cruiser event. Most of these riders are sport-tourers. Some are coming for the weekend from as far away as California to have a hamburger in Moonshine, IL. Not your typical poker run. haha. As of right now, I have to work that weekend but am gonna try to get Saturday off. |

So it's a slow day at work for me. I'm thinking that we don't have a new club logo yet, so I started tinkering with some logo creation software I have, and this is what I came up with. Any ideas or suggestions? (Even if the suggestion is, "Leave the logo creation software alone!" If anyone says it sucks, I won't be offended. I didn't waste any tuition on art or design classes! -But I would like to see what you can come up with! Just thought I'd get the ball rolling...

That's funny. Now that you mention it... it does kinda remind me of one of my old text books! The RIDE font I used kind of makes me think Disco or something too. But I choose to interpret the "curves" another way. Like some good 'ol twisties! |
