Aron, I think I am 3rd in line but I'll take the 07 airbox lid if no one chimes in. I do need one. I'm not opposed to pushing/pulling my 5K mile service in or out a few hundred miles or so if we get a wrench party going to tackle two or more bikes. Learning is priceless as well! ^_^ |

Paul, 2 hours easy with two people. most the stuff is just inspection. Some of the stuff does not pertain to eh 06 model, like the belt replacement. An now the servo adjustment sense you have the drummer. * Change engine oil and filter * Inspect air cleaner, service as required. * Inspect brake pads and discs for wear. * Adjust primary chain. * Change transmission/primary chaincase lube and clean drain plug. * Zero throttle position sensor (TPS). * Check engine idle speed. * Adjust throttle cables. * Adjust clutch and clutch cable. * Check rear belt and idler pulley. Replace belt and idler pulley every 25,000 miles (40,000 km). Inspect every 5000 mi (8000 km). * Check front and rear tire pressure and inspect tread. * Clean oil cooler fins. * Check brake fluid reservoir levels and condition. * Check operation of all electrical equipment & switches. * Inspect oil lines and brake system for leaks. * Lubricate front brake hand lever, throttle control cables, clutch control cables (and hand lever), sidestand pivot, and rear brake pedal bushing (if applicable). * Lube and adjust interactive exhaust system cable. (XB12R only) * Inspect motorcycle: Check front and rear brake lines, oil lines, front forks, rear shock, exhaust system, exhaust system mounting and evaporative emission control if applicable. * Road test. |

A lot of that is done already, or is done pre-ride. I'm glad I didn't part with two small to have a dealership do it. And no plug change? I think I'm running a bit fat and want to pull the plugs and at least read them, if not just replace them outright. Thoughts on oil and Plugs? I'd still love do do this as a group, it's just more fun and extra eyes allways help. The TPS reset is the only thing I cant do alone. I'm traveling through the 24th and the 25th I'll be Jet Lagged. So an evening during the week of the 26th works or the weekend of the 30th. If we do the weekend of the 30th My best friend is in town (Hootowl in Houston Buellers and the guy who gave me the Blast to get me back into riding, has an X1 with over 30K miles on it) so I wont be able to make a day of it, but he may be up for helping, and I would prefer to do it in my garage. Alternativly, I could just do the service sans TPS and the Sweed and I could do that on the way out the door for a future group ride. Aron, I ant get the front wheel up for 3000 RPM in first. I conducted a test,(all in the interist of science of course!) on the way home yesterday. I don't know if my naturial tendency to hug the tank when I hit the throtle hard or the bike itself prevented a lift, but it didn't lift. 12-15 hundred it'll lift throtle only. I'm gonna be pissed if the Drummer SS make that much of a difference! |

I'm a plug junkie myself. You can tell ALOT from reading them. Granted, on our bikes, you can't just tweak the carb. ^_^ Oil, if you are running the good stuff, just wait for mileage interval. I'm free ALL DAY (and night) on the 28th and 29th. Cord P.S. Aron, any word from anyone on the air box lid? |

Paul & Cord- Glad to help with the in-garage service, hands-on or simply managing beverage consumption. Can bring XB9 & XB12 manuals, Jesse James Signature Snap-On torque wrench kit, and of course my Craftsman beer bottle opener. Yeah, that Buell InsidePass trackday thing is interesting! The event I'd love to try is Laguna Seca in November; our motoride and vacation schedule is pretty full up 'til then. My September ride is a visit to Bonneville Salt Flats with my brother (riding over from Colorado), Zion & Bryce Canyon parks, then 1500 mile Iron Butt home... definitely a Beemer trip. Speaking of track days: http://www.cascadetracktime.com/calendar.html http://www.pssrtrack.com/ If I get my act (and XB) together, then 2 PIR trackdays are in my future. Anybody want to make it a Buell group event? |

Phil, the airbox is yours. Give me a call and we can discuss. Paul, it might just be the leaning over tank thing. I have noticed that I am little more relaxed then usual and was sitting upright at the time. Now I find my self leaning forward again. The SS only adds 1-2 HP over the original I believe plus some additional weight reduction. it could also be the fact that I run the open air box and my torque is probably shifted a little upwards. Paul, just let me know when you want to do it. I can drive over with my laptop when ever you want to do the TPS. Takes about 20 minutes. And that is only because 15 minutes of it is waiting for the bike to get up to temperature before checking the final setting on the idle. |

Paul, I run the Sync 3 in the motor and the HD Formula plus in the primary. I also switched my plugs out for the NGK Iridium 9 heat range. (I don't recall the exact part number but can get it for you) Some seem to think it's better to wait 5000 miles before switching to Synthetic but i was impatient and did it at 1500 miles. |

Goo ahead and shoot me the plug part number if you get the time.. No big deal if you can't. Good point on the break in for the oil. Modern oils do so well the rings take longer to seat then they did in the past. I'll think on it... Cord started a wrench party thread for date suggestions, it's up with the archives. |

Trackdays would be cool to do, but I don't have any rockstar pants or ski boots. If I did have two bikes then I would be a trackday junkie, but if I was to Lay Down Sally I would hate myself for messing up a perfect bike. I do intend on getting the proper gear at some point, right now I'm just getting Lucy(that's her real name) dolled up and more vocal. Aron, call you sat. or sun. |

Aron, here is the site for the heel guards and sprocket cover. Let me know if the link works for you, I'm not sure if it is my puter or the site, but I can't view it. www.soetengadesign.com |

Well I guess it's not my puter then. I went back to the original thread where I had seen the link and clicked on it, not working either. The original thread is archived on march 4th ,the XBoard, "Pulley cover picture request". Shows most of the covers except Soetenga. Also some rearsets in the pictures. |

Four days with no posts, damn were slowing down.. My new Sport Attacks arrived today. I will be getting them mounted tomorrow morning. Not sure of the best way to support the front yet to get my wheel off. Still waiting on my front stand. I am thinking of just putting a strap around the front under the head steering and lift up supported by the garage ceiling support cross bar. |

Got them off. However assembled this bike didn't use anti-seize per the manual. Rear wheels suppose to be torqued to 48-52 Ft lbs it took 140 ft lbs to break loose and the axles were very dry. |

Cord, Phil took it. I am glad your getting some riding time in. I put 104 miles in on Saturday scrubbing in my new tires. Man do they handle better then the old 208's |

Well I have been told that I should have the Micron this week so hopefully that holds true. Cord, I bought the airbox more as a back up than anything. I chopped up my old one and I am just waiting to see if everything works ok when I get the bike back together. If you still want it I'll sell it to you after I am positive my box mod works, jus lemme no. |

Sure, let me know when you are done with it. ^_^ If the Micron shows up, you can trow it on at the wrench party. (like you can wait that long) (Message edited by disturbed on March 21, 2007) |

The Micron is now installed. Wow! I love the sound. When the roads get dry I'll have to track down a Drummer runner so we can hear the differences in person. It does have that V8 sound. I ran it up and down my street a few times for a check ride, luckily in my haste I did not lose any of the bolts I had loosely put in where parts were taken off. Now just waiting for the weather to clear so I can putt around and get the ECM dialed in. |
