Jim & Nuts - Are you guys getting the front rotor replaced under warranty?

Fly - I had the same problem with the screw that goes through the upper fender that adjusts the lights. I still haven't loosen it, but when I was changing out head light bulbs, I was able to take off the upper fender by taking off the head light bezel and loosening the fork screws.

Let us know what you think about the Avons. I understand about the Wife's reaction to motorcycle tire replacements.

We just got back from dropping off Carlee in DC. A lot of motorcycles riding and even more trailer queens heading to Daytona on I-95

M2 - yes, it's covered by the warranty. Does yours pulse?

Carlos, my Uly does not pulse under braking. If this should develop I will try to have it replaced.

Jim, I should have offered my garage space for you to change the tires up. I know it's a bit of a ride but I've done it so many times on Buell's. Yesterday I pulled the front and rear wheels in about 30 minutes. Ran over to my tire guy to find a note on the door about Daytona and returning 12 March. After checking a few other possibilities, I ended up around the corner from my house getting a set of Avon Azaro's installed. $280 in about 30 mins. Came home, threw everything together in about an hour and went for a 75 mile ride.

Now it's snowing! Will I ride to breakfast an hour away in the snow with new tires? NUTS

Yeah, under warranty. I was using Carbone Lorraine pads after I started noticing "hot spots" in my rotor about 2000 miles ago and it was too late. Rotor was warped and getting worse. So, I went back to the stock brakes so I could take it in. (If you have aftermarket pads on they won't honor the warranty on the rotor. So swap em out if you bring it in) and the new service mgr at New River huffed and puffed about it, but at the end of the day AFTER HE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE they replaced the warranty and it was under warranty. SO, stock pads are on there now, but the golds are on the way. I have been using the golds on the back for about 500 miles and I love em. So, It's just a waiting game between me and Al.

Here's what I want to know...

Here in the heck do you BUY loctite? Besides, I've seen the red and blue before (long time ago) but where's the white stuff I keep seeing on all my bolts that I take off.

Ft_B-- OK you got me on that one Been so much talk about installing Buell parts on the V-stroms thought that I would.....not a chance. HS typing I used to get my hands slapped with a ruler for being lazy.

M2nc and Jln-- yep that's the little folker. Trying to put the "ugly" headlight protector on and this bolt has to come out. When I installed the driving lights was able to work around removing it like you did.

Will report on the new tires, not sure if I will have much info before MBIV. Boss is trying to kill me. I ordered a rear Distanzia for the haul road, going to run it with the MT-60 front to finish it off.

Nuts last time I got my loctite from AutoZone (i think) in the sealant isle. Not sure about the white stuff. At work we use the red and blue also.

I didn't get any complaints about the aftermarket pads. I worried about that but it didn't come up.

Fly - I'm working 60hrs+ so I am not riding much either. I have enough tires to make MBIV then I will have to change to the Syncs because I am doing an Advride with Rubberdown in May.

Webe just bought a Nomar tire changer so I will be able to order tires on line and go bother him for tire changes.

Jim - Yes my brakes have been pulsating for a while. I tried the gold pads but it still does it. I figured sooner or later I would have to buy the rotor since I thought it fell under serviceable items like cars. I will have the rotor changed out when I have them do the recall for the tip sensor.

All depending on how well it goes with the M2, I may ride it to the Dragon and MBIV and have Kristi tow the Uly. I know I have enough tire on the M2 to make the entire weekend but like last time the M2 was at Suches, I may flat spot the sides of the tires. Too comical, the year Brankin and I went and met up with Buellish, Jimidan and Norbert the sides of the front tire had no tread left. I did not worry about it though because we super-slabbed it back and the center of the tire was fine. That is why I have such a problem with the Stradas. With 2/3 the mileage of the D205, the center is flat spotted. I have never flat spotted a front tire before. The M2 did the Super-Slab rides to Daytona, Suches, and Cincinnati and the D205 front tire always kept its shape.

I'm probably going to have to swap mine out before I really want to. The Azaros are pretty consistent throughout the tire life but when they go, they go in a hurry. I don't want to be on the back side of the mountain when I run out of tire life.

I don't ride slab that much, but they seem to be as chewed up down the center as the rest of the tire.

Carlos - Get it fixed as soon as you can. I'm sorry I waited as long as I did. I didn't realize how much more fun to ride it was when I didn't have the pulsing. You might want to call them and make sure they have a brake rotor in stock.

I have been looking at the Buell site and have found a couple of tidbits.

- May 26 & 27th there will be the Buell Demo truck at Thunder Tower Buell in Elgin SC just north of Columbia SC. I believe it is skirting Fort Jackson Military base where Ferris' son is located. According to Mapquest its 4 hours from Grifton. Might make for a fun weekend to get up with the SC crowd.

- Sept 12 - Buell sponsored Track Day at VIR. In conjunction with Private Track Time and Greensboro Buell, an event will be held at VIR. I am thinking about going and register as a novice.

Last year we did the parent/child ride on May 13, my birthday. : ) I've got the kids again over that weekend, which would be Saturday May 12. Does that work for everyone?

Rotors in STOCK? They don't. At least New River doesn't. When I had mine replaced, they told me that it's just not an item they replace that much, so there was no sense in stocking it. I say go to New River and do it. That service Mgr. is a BEAR CAT to deal with at times (Doug.) Would be good for him to actually see that ANOTHER buell has a warped rotor. Good news... He won't touch it, but johnny will, and he's top notch. Great Mech. Plus he's fast. Most of the time I get my bike back the SAME DAY.

I'm sure the cabin will be open by then. There's tons of room for tents. Last year Daddy said we could head up that way if we wanted to. I'm sure the same holds true this year. I'll double check.

You're too kind! They would happen, but with the "wing it as we go" approach. Looking forward to MBIV. Remember to bring your sweatshirt this year!

Rubberdown or U4euh - refresh my memory....from TWO to C3 Central the MapQuest directions seem to have more turns than I remember. What are the directions you remember? Didn't we just go up 60, turn left at the stop sign and then right onto Laurel Woods Drive and the cabin was on our left?

Well we are starting the preparations for top speed racing, gotta build a full length belt guard for Laura's blast, as well as learn the art of Saftey wire, and find a good lanyard kill switch.

And if somebody can sew a zipper into her leathers as noboy is going anywhere without leathers.

Okay...

This may be off topic... but, I just got back from my neighbors house after drinking 2 beers there, and he mentioned that he attended Sunday's event at BoJangles and that "one of my Bad Web Bubbas" was there. Plus he mentioned that said named person asked about me. I'm sorry I couldn't show up, who ever you were, but I was at the hospital for on going problems with my back. But, weather permitting, I should be there next Sunday. As I understand it, Ron told me that it was a FAST day, that Sunday.

Cyclone, I have a feeling that it was you that was there. Only because Ron said that "the dude had a BLACK bike."

Anyway, I'm sure it was stupid fast, but it's not usually that way all the time. Sometimes too fast... Is just too fast.

Anyway...

Sportymark... I think I may be able to help you on the leathers... I grew up in a business with my Father Manufacturing Mattresses. (Yeah.. they're not leather) But, by the age of 8 I became a "seamstress" and continued to do the same until 21 (Joining the Marines)

Can I sew a zipper into leathers. Yes. Can you? Yes. Sewing is just a series of Straight lines.

Let me know if you need any help.

Mark
