You must get better weather than us! Our forecast is crap, crap, and more crap. If we get a break today, I'm going for some kind of ride.

The Micron should be in next week. Ordered through D&S in Aloha and they said the Micron folks were finishing a new batch when I ordered. The map for my setup was finished a couple weeks ago, so the timing worked out good there. The ECM probably will not be back to me till the 12th-15th.

Mark, I will most likely be out. Might swing down to P-HD (depending on weather), what time?

Took a 2 hour ride today. It's loud! Might just need to try those earplugs out. But man do I love the sound of motor with the SS. I went around Skyline. The roads was mostly decent with a few foggy patches.

Swede - Will ride up after church, probably drop by Paradise around 2pm if weather holds out.

Would love to hear the Drummer SS in person!

I can get you some freebie earplugs to try... have a good supply, 'cause I wear them everyday for work.

Mark, if the weather holds up I will be there at 2:00 pm. You know what my bike looks like

If I am not by my bike I will be the one wearing a Cortech GX-Sport jacket (black with white trim).

Aron, good to see you today! Bike sounds as good as it looks nice, nice job!

My labor fest on the Fairlane paid off. SOLD! Cash in hand ^_^

It's kinda bittersweet seeing it go.

Aron - good to meet you and hear that Drummer SS. Can't wait to get/install mine on the "XB Short"!

Paul - talked with Aron about getting us Buellers together for some local rides:

(1) Meet at Alf's in McMinnville for a burger, then out to "casino junction" to ride Hwy22 towards Tillamook, then back east via Hwy6.

(2) Buzz down I-5 to ride US20 up to Santiam Junction, then to Detriot Lake and take Breitenbush north.

(3) Do the "Splash" route (guessing, since I've not yet done the annual Buell ride) around Mt. StHelens.

You have any favorites?

Paul, how many miles do you have on your Drummer now? Notice any increase in power as you get more miles on it?

I rode about 120 miles over the weekend on my pipe and I can feel the power keep on increasing. My concerns about the open air box leaving flat spots are gone. The power increase in the middle is huge over stock and i can't help but smile every time I ride or even think about the ride I just did. i even surprised my self by lifting the front wheel off the ground on a shift between 1st and 2nd. What a feeling!!

So now I am ready to part with my 07 inner airbox cover. This is the cover that has the additional air slots. Paul gets first dibs. he had asked about it a while back.

If no one is interested I will be putting in the classified section.

Well, there is no rain this morning and I will be riding my bike to work. 60 mile round trip over old German town road. Hope the neighbors don't mind a 6:30 wake up call.

Sorry for being a post wh%re this morning.

I am now a believer that power wheelies are possible on buell longs... Throttle only. 1st gear with my heavy ass at 3000 rpm and then a quick 3/4 throttle twist. My front tire popped up. Holy COW!! I am loving this pipe more and more every day.

I hate my tires though. They slipped on me this morning going down German Town towards 30. that feeling of fish tailing sucks. Still wet but still I was only going 30 mph. Time to tire shop.

Aron, I'll take second dibs on the air box. Also, the only time I was on Germantown I noticed they put down de-icer. To me it felt a little slick even though the road was dry so I had to wonder if the de-icer leaves a film.

Right now the number of posts this morning only qualify you as a hussy. You still need five more before the day is done to achieve post whor{•} status. I'm gonna be nice this time and only give you a warning because I'd like to buy the airbox. Next time though, the gavel will have final say.

Balls - please forgive my Interstate ramblings... after all, I'm a Beemer/Iron-Butt guy in my spare time... anybody wanna tackle the 1500 mile/36 hours trip in September?

And I'll ride the slab on the Buell if it's the quickest way to get to good roads. Just listen to that vtwin righteous rumble (or good iPod tunes), and the time flies until the Twisty Canyon exit!

I always try to take backroads but if time doesn't permit I'll do a straight shot and hope to play on the way back. Usually I use 219 or 47 to go to Salem, either one of those roads are good routes to McMinnville.

Back roads are cool. As long as there is no gravel....

The de-icer makes sense. I still need to start looking for some tires and good place for putting them on. I have 4300 miles or so miles on my stockers now.

I am thinking Conti Sport Attacks.

Aron, you might want to try looking in the knowledge vault for info on changing tires with tools from Harbor Freight. If the review was good, you have the space in your garage, and you feel like being a diy guy then the tools would probably pay themselves off in a short time.

Yes i have thought about it. However I am not that into DIY. Especially when I would the the one responsible if I was to damage the rim. Plus if I was to buy one it would be one from here.

From what I've heard the powdercoat chips easy so nomar would be a good choice. However, I plan on polishing the lip anyways so I am not to concerned with that. Harbor Freight is cheap ($110) but gets the job done, how good it does, I don't know that's why I mentioned the Vault.
Have you found out the prices from the locals yet? How much and is that with them taking the bike into the shop or you dropping off your wheels?

CycleGear store here in So-Lame just did my new tires (well, not really new... bought 1+ yrs ago during the store's Grand Opening)... inexpensive to get the tires mounted & balanced professionally, and the tech spent extra time (on an admittedly slow day) polishing the smooth-machined portions of my silver XB wheels!

CycleGear also has a puncture policy that covers the first hundred miles of use, or something like that... partial replacement value credit, or prorated, or maybe it's late and I'm synaptically-challenged.

Regardless, they're getting my tire business from now on.

Aron - checked out that pic of the Albany XB bike... saw the original posts from the guy who put together that very trick XB Long; didn't know the bike had moved west to Oregon! I sent the owner an e-mail/PM.

Hey guys been lying low all week, where to start...

Aron, you bet your a$$ I feel the difference in the Drummer. I've been riding all week and have 250 Drummer miles on now. Much better power, and yes the front end has lifted, but it was intentional.

Mark,
If schedule allows I'm always up for a ride. I do need to find a way to get some confidence back after my dumba$$ dump. Still a bit chicken...

Had a $hitty ride monday. Rode to our office in Tualatin and got about a block form work and the bike hick-uped twice then calmed down. No more than half a block into the ride home it started coughing and wheezing, running very fat and died at the stops unless I kept rolling the throttle on and off. The next 30 minutes were horrible, I could tell it was a fuel system problem and figured I had a loose intake air sensor as I just had the lower airbox off last week. Could not stay at steady throttle for more than five or ten seconds, I must have shifted 250 times. LIMPED almost all the way home before it finaly decided to go into open loop mode and started running better. A check of the temp sensor was negative, but 30 minutes later I found the problem. A wire tie caught in the primary sprocket, that I think pulled the wires to a sensor tight cutting the insulation. I believe I was grounding on the case, and the ECM didn't know what to do. Problem is fixed and bike runs great again.

Question for all. I'n 1000 mile service due. Do it myself or drop it at Paradise for Roc while I travel to PA and London over the next two weeks?

Paul, for the 1000 miles service there is not all that much that needs to be done. I took mine to Latus and they tried to charge me $360. I bitched and said that their website advertised $270. They ended up honoring the website price. After getting it back I found myself double checking everything they did because I was paranoid after all the posts that I had read. I found that the clutch was adjusted incorrectly, drain plugs were too loose almost finger loose.

Paradise will most likely do a better job. But if you want to do it yourself its not a big job. I also have the software to reset the TPS and I am more then willing to help you out. Oh I also have the manual and the 1000 mile check list.

Oh by the way cool to hear that you power is up. It's hard to believe that a 10% increase feels so incredible on these bikes, especially in that 3500 rpm hole. I am still working up the nerve to pull it up on purpose. Done it twice by accident. Oh and you got me beat by about 10 drummer miles.

Mark, I like the look of the standard XB rear seat frame on the Long. I might just have to look into this as a future mod.

Doesn't look like any decent weather for a while. Do you want ship does levers up or wait until the weather looks better so I can come down?

I'm approaching my 5K mile service, I'll be tackling it myself and only taking it in to have the steering head bearing tension measured. I've always been a DIY guy. The Fairlane posted about was in about 1000 pieces when I got it.

Paul - Paradise did my 1k service, and seemed to feel "finger tight" was sufficient for much of the hardware... or it all shook loose after a while! Would definitely check fastener torques post-service.

Aron - will dig through the amassed Buell parts this weekend to find ASV levers...

oh, and the guy with XB Long and way-cool Short tail (plus other) modifications in the valley, turns out he works for my company in one of the locations I serve as supplier! Will ask if he'd like to join the PDX Buell group on a ride or two this summer.

Aron, How many hours to do the service if we did it together? If its only a few, lets try and get together and get er done. If Cord can wait perhaps we can do his 5K at the same time?

Anyone else get the track day email from Buell. Looks like we could do Utah? Anyone interisted in a September round trip? Mark is this the trip your already talking about?
