Question for the folks at VIR... Was it possible to buy tires and have them installed at the track? I am wondering if PTT will have this available at Pocono? |

I didn't notice tire sales. I could have totally missed it though. |

Alchemy - No, I didn't see anything that made me think you could do that. |

I was involved in a collision with another rider on the inside of turn 7. That install may be for the other bike. They only had to replace the passenger heel guard on my bike. I think the the right side of the swing arm was scratched also. |

Jose/K: Thanks for the photos, I think both of you captured the best shots of me. Do either of you have higher-res versions? |

Now ya'll are making me nervous! So how many "incidents" are common on a given Inside Pass event? Are they more common in one of the categories (novice, intermediate, advanced)? Just trying to decide if I should be getting swingarm sliders before the Ohio event... I will be working on being smooth and having good form, not setting any records... but I can't control other people around me... |

There were several incidents (all in the Novice group I believe). During the 1st session, one rider bit the dust and was done for the day; 2nd, 2 bikes collided (I was on one of them); 3rd a rider overshot turn 1, he got back on the track. If this is your first time on a track, go easy, you will progress as the day goes on. Know your limits and stay within them. The hardest thing for me was forgetting about the rear view mirrors, it took 3 sessions to get over that. Focus on what's in front of you. I kept my eyes on the cones and if I couldn't see one, I'd scan the horizon until I found one then set my line. It was hard at first, the turns seemed so difficult. After lunch, it all began to make sense and the rest of the day I spent working on setting up for each turn and transitioning. By the end of the day I was almost draggin' knee. If you're worried about the other riders (getting stuck behind or in a group), you can always pause in pit lane 10 - 20 seconds, then get back on the track. |

I had a particularly hard time with turn 7 @ VIR. It is an uphill turn coming off a straight. Even though the coaches encouraged us to engage this turn aggressively(it being a sweeping uphill an all), I slowed plenty before attacking it. For whatever reason it freaked me out. I got it, towards the end of the day. Take your time until you feel comfortable with your lines, you're not competing at this event, and no-one's paying you to finish first. You will get more out this experience if you approach it as "Track Riding 101". (Message edited by rasmonis on September 14, 2007) |

Bill, I think the first 2 times for the novice group everyone was kind of fired up. The first time out, we were flooring it and then hard braking, not really knowing the track, most of us. Then at the end one time we were all clumped up and that sucked. Take your time and learn the track then as the day goes on you will get faster. Both of the crashes happened pretty close to me, I was coming up on them as they were landing in the grass. The thing you want to remember is its better to crash on the track than the street! K |

As you are no doubt aware.. Robin was telling me to calm down prior to th first session for the intermediate group... Of course I was amped up.. what would you expect.. It was 'Track Time...'... In response to the 'events' question.. There were little 'F'-ups all day long in every group. I am aware of at least one 'event' in every session that took place, one major difference is that as the skill levels go up, corrections and 'saves' are made faster and smoother. You notice the ones in your group more since you go by them while they were happening... In the Intermediate and Advanced group some of the same situations happen but have different results since the riders involved can make the needed save without as much 'drama'. I saw several riders in my group ride off track or loose their concentration only to regain it and come back smoothly. Case in point; on my first outing on the 1125r once I got up to speed my turn in points were all wrong and I ended up on the curbing while leaned over in some of the turns, having a little more track skill then some others that were out there that day I was able to stay on track and ride it out... a few years ago, I may have been in for an off track excursion. There is so much I could say about the Buell/PTT event that I bet I could go on for days.. Suffice it to say, they BETTER do this again.. OVER and OVER .. I for one will be there every time.. And a last thought to those of you that signed up but didn't make it.. You blew it! Nuff Said... |

It was a great time. I can see myself doing track hopefully twice a year time permitting. The inside pass was a great way to introduce new guys like me to the track. I have to say that 1125r is defenetly a track bike, I love my 9R but the control, speed and braking is so much superior. It was great to see a lot of Badweather guys. Buell has me sold on the 1125r. Awsome |

It was a great day, indeed. Can't say enough about Buell/PTT. I would sign up again in a heartbeat if they do it again, and again, and again... Great to meet everyone there as well, Buellers Rock! |

It was really cool to meet everyone and have their help and support. I'm really considering going to Pocono or maybe Mid-Ohio. That was very smart of Buell with the 1125's I wouldnt have considered buying it too much. Having gotten ride on for all its worth. I must say I will be casually shopping for one. I'll wait for the 08's that the "bike of the month club" guys are selling off cheap next fall and pick one up. I'm sure the Pasta and Rice factory's will answer up with something new that will be the "have to have" bike. |
