How was the buell ride in lakeland? I ended up going to the Triumph demo and man those bikes are fun. The speed triple is a mix between the xb12s and an I4. There is Something about 3 pistons which really make it the best of both worlds. I really thought the 675 was cool. but with the demo ride being kind of slow paced it's hard to really get a feel for the bike. There was one part when the group started breaking up at a stop sign and I was able to jet it for a few seconds to catch up and the power came on strong and fast. Triumph is the only brand I would consider other than Buell. Although I'm still love my buell for a number for reasons. (Message edited by isham on February 18, 2007) |

Ken, what is your website? Got wind-resistant Gloves? Saturday service? Lakeland Ride: This morning was a beautiful 34F degree in central Florida and Lafeytte had set up a ride to the Grand Opening of a new HD dealer which is about 40 south of me. The dealer is owned by the same people that own Lakeland HD and is on 27S in Lake Wales about 2 miles south of Hwy 60. I showed up a few minutes early and no one was there, we finally had 4 riders on this cold morning. We took the not so direct route and had breakfast at Mama's Place about 1 mile north of the dealer. When we got to the dealer, I walked over to Bubba's trailor and talked to him for a few minutes. He had a Blast, 2 xb12 and 1 HD and then his jump bike that was a HD motor, the frame looked all custom. He said the Blast and one XB were completely stock except the exhaust which was just for noise, the other XB had a chain and huge rear sprocket. They were all painted red, white& blue. I then went inside looked around and picked up my free Buell cap. They had about 5 Buells in the store and no Buell accessories or clothing, other than a couple of pink caps I found. I then when home to get the kids for the show. We got back about 15 minutes before the show, had some BBQ and then went over to the show area which was the back of their Rider's Edge course. Bubba and another rider, Chris (brother or son?) came riding out the back of the trailer on 2 XBs, they both did wheelies and stoppies and burn outs. One had a special brace on the back that allowed them to stand it on it's tail end and do a burnout. Then bubba went to his Blast and did a number of wheelies and burnouts on the Blast. After about 20 minutes they ended the show by blowing out a rear tire after about 3 or 4 minutes of a burnout on the stock XB. Afterwards, my kids got autographs and he commented on my Buell shirt, we talked about the Blast a little, he once again confirmed the bike was stock except the exhaust. It did have the stock airbox and all the stock plastic, it looks completely legal, I only wish I had taken my camera. Mitch |

I would like to know too, I am thinking about a New xb9, but don't like the black wheels and think it might be cheaper than swapping the wheels. Mitch |

A friend of mine got some powder coating done at a place located off west SR50 behind the Dodge dealer. They do a lot of motorcycle stuff and he highly recommends them. Unfortunately i don't remember the name. I'll try and track it down. Frank |

I secretly hope it doesn't turns out to be a big show. I wonder if i'll get to talk to him. I have some safety concerns about firebolt lights i'd like to discuss. |

Just a hint, based on 20 years of experience, I'd suggest that an event like this would be a very poor place for such a discussion. You won't be able, with constant interruptions, to convey much meaningful information and similarly it'd be darn near impossible for anyone, while folks are swapping stories and partying to concentrate. Just a thought . . . but it's a bit like trying to do calculus on a trampoline. |
