This Thursday, May 3rd, ASBN is joining in the Sonomafest ride being led by Richard of RKA. We're leaving from Sears Point at 9:00 am sharp. Let's see a great Buell showing here. Last year's ride was really fun. ASBN will be Monday night May 7th. Justin from Vallejo Harley Davidson Buell, who made it to the podium (and beat Tripp Nobles) at Willow Springs will be there to tell the story. We'll be talking about Laguna Seca, Donner, the June Colorado meeting and the Homecoming. Bring your Buell and have some fun. We'll also be discussing the September trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats and the U.S.F.R.A. event that Team Elves will be participating in to defend their Land Speed Records set last year. There will be fun, sun and the dates are September 21-24 this year. There may be a chance for you to bring your very own Buell and ride it on the Bonneville Salt Flats yourself. We're taking names of all those who wish to go and cheer Team Elves. Visit the Team Elves site at http://www.TeamElves.com They are looking for support and will have shirts, hats, patches and there are still some available from last year. See you Monday night. |

If you are going on tomorrows ride, you can download the map from RKA's website here- http://www.RKA-luggage.com/pages/19sonoma/entersonoma.html Richard promises this to be a great ride and a great place for lunch. I have installed my Canon Digital Elph on a Ram-Mount from RKA, so I'll have some good pictures from the ride. Stay tuned... Jim X-2.5 |

Sears Point Parking this weekend... From: pgiusto@searspoint.com Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2001 10:42 AM We have a special space for the Bay Area Buell Riders and Buell Riders Adventure Group for this weekend. It is located in the paddock where special passes are usually required to park. In this case however, they will not be required. I ask that you inform the Bay Area Buell Riders to check in with the Paddock Marshall just after entering the main gate. The Paddock Marshall is aware that Buell Riders have a corral in the paddock and will therefore allow entry. All Buell Riders entering the paddock will be tagged with a wristband on their handle bars for in and out priviledges for Saturday and Sunday. It is important that your group know this so that our operations people don't think they are "sneaking" in. We have limited space this weekend due to construction. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. |

As a reminder tonight is X-1 night at American SportBike Night in Dublin. The show starts at 7PM, but we usually get there at 6PM for dinner. I'll be giving the talk about the X-1, it's history, strengths, weaknesses, and what to do about some of the problems. Believe me, after two X-1s and more than 31,000 miles I have a few stories to tell. See you there! Jim X-2.5 http//www.americansportbikenight.com if you need directions. |

I've been on that road, but I don't remember the 17th corner looking quite like that. But then it has been a few years since I've been on it. |

I've seen the Buell Round Up on BMC's website for July 31 - August 4 in San Joaquin Valley, Madera County District Fairgrounds. It looks like they're having Demo rides, anybody know anything else about this event? Sparky |

September 3rd, labeled on the calendar as Labor Day, is also the Buell Homecoming weekend however it's the first Monday of the month and American Sportbike Night will not be swayed from our first Monday of the month tradition. Rex Chaney will be at the Homecoming, but he'll be home in time to give us a report of the event at ASBN. We're also trying to get Lance Keigwin who runs track days at Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca, Sears Point and Thunderhill to come and give a talk about his events and what track days can do for us. Ride safe, Woz... |

HAS ANYONE ELSE READ THIS CRAP!!!!!!!!! The official press release follows: Harley-Davidson announced today the Company has chosen to end its factory VR1000 Superbike racing program and retire from the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Superbike series after the final round of the 2001 season at Virginia International Raceway on September 28-30... "Our development team took a hard look at rebuilding the program this year, and what it would take to bring the VR 1000 to a competitive level and replace it with a new design. Harley-Davidson has determined the resources required to do that are simply too costly to pursue given our other business priorities," said Baker. Well, Maybe they will finally do the right thing and Create a Buell motorcycle to race in its place!!!!! Quite honestly, I think Eric Buell should demand it!!! Picotte is still under contract for another 2 years with HD. Can you imagine the possibilities with Pascal on an Eric Buell creation??????? Just found this on motorcycle online. please sign this and let HD know how all the Buelligans really feel!!! http://www.petitiononline.com/hdb/petition.html All people who want to see an American AMA Superbike win, sign this! thanks |

Since the closing of the Firehouse Grille or Firehose Girl to may of us, American SportBike Night has been looking for a new home. We have found one at Straw Hat Pizza in San Leandro about a mile from Woz's house. The meeting is still held on the first Monday of the month, which is April 1st - this coming Monday. We also have a new website site, since the old one is going away. Check it out here.... http://americansportbikenight.inspiredsites.net/ Blake, if you could put a link to our new web address at the top of this page, we'd appreciate it. Thanks, Jim Armstrong X-2.5 |

Oops, I misspoke. The ASBN website isn't going away as I said earlier. I went there and go several broken links, so I thought it was going down, but Kevin is still maintaining it. We'll just put a link from the main ASBN site to the discussion boards. Jim X-2.5 |

Hey Buellers, If I lived where you guys lived, I wouldn't be tap tap tappin on a keyboard either: I'd be out ridin! Come March John "99X1" and a beemer buddy and I plan to trailer our bikes to Encinitas to begin a two week California riding holiday. Can we tug on yer coats a minute for some riding information? Anza Borega area and PCH are must do's. What's the Crest and 33 north of Ojai like in March? Snow, salt, sand? I've only been on them as late as December in the past, and encountered no mess. Was I lucky? Onward north up the PCH, camping as we go. Plan is to spend a few days at a time camped at some of the hot spots to afford unladen day rides in the area. Big Sur Pfieffer, Big Basin area, Mendocino etc. Would love to hear any local travel/road condition/route tips from California riders. And hey, if you've got the time and want to just SHOW us yer favourite ride... knock yerself out! best, Lornce |
