Wellllllll, She’s sitting at 501 miles! Today was Lake Elizabeth Road to Lake Hughes – past Castaic, I-5 for a couple miles, 126 through to Santa Paula then 150 North to Ojai. Then the 33 on up to Lockwood Valley Rd toward Gorman. On out 138 back to Lake Elizabeth, down San Francisquito, across and then back up Boquet Canyon to home. At the entrance to the tract, I needed 4 more miles to break 500 so did a run up and back 2-miles. TA DA! I’m ready for the ride tomorrow. I’ll still be babying her but we’re starting to get along. Even though the manual says breakin is done, I'll let her breathe easy for a while yet, just let the revs up a tad. Think I'm gonna like the little one. |

LOL, Steve, I wasn't even thinking of the break in miles (how soon we forget). It takes real discipline. I gradually started picking up my revs too. Kept it under 5500 till 750 miles and didn't take it up past 7000 until after 1000 miles. Timbo |

Timbo, It'll be good to start to let it open up a little more. I will keep it gentle til 1000 miles then make the switch to synthetic and let 'er rip! The "Little Bolt" is a fun ride. Totally different than my S3 but really confidence-building in turns now. At least I don't have any "chicken strips" on the sides of the tires anymore. See you at Glendale! If Sparky sees this, maybe he'll bring his Firebolt, too. Never know. |

"If Sparky sees this, maybe he'll bring his Firebolt, too. Never know." I'm planning on it but I also gotta get Jen on the S1. So... que sera, sera. I spoke to Tim tonight and he'd like us to arrive at Glendale closer to 9 than 9:30 in order to get the ride underway by 10 am. This'll hopefully allow enough time to accommodate the film crew's needs and still get us to Camarillo by 12:30 ~ 1 pm. Thanks, Sparky |

Sparky, Yesiree - they're supposed to have the shop open at 9 so there'll be coffee on for us. Hope the weather is as sweet as it was today! ('cept the cold) |

Well that was a lot of fun yesterday! I'm convinced that Buell riders are among the finest motorcyclists on the planet! Thanks for welcoming me in and for great riding! Rock and Roll. Tony |

Tony, This is a fun group (much credit to ALL the folks for keeping it that way) Good riding with you and everybody else!! Too bad I had to "crash" the new little Bolt so spent the first half hour replacing the footpeg and turn signal. At least when I crash it is at zero speed and when I'm not on the bike!!! Sheeit, that's 2 for 2 now!! (My S3 blew over in a windstorm!) Make sure Candice has your email address so you can get all the announcements - and check here because sometimes she'll ask me to post for her here - Sparky and Timbo and some of the others are in pretty close touch, too. Somebody's riding somewhere almost every weekend! I'll look for your smiling face on Speed Vision Your S1 is a SWEET Bike! Stay in touch! |

Hey! Yesterday was a lot of fun. Great riding and better company...it doesn't get much better. Nice meeting you and sharing some twisties Tony. Most excellent bike BTW. Battletrax was fun too. I was surprised at how close the times were for everyone. Awesome riding. Hope to see our mugs on that TV show too, that would be the icing on the cake. Take care all. Timbo |

Timbo - it was fun chasing all those 'bolts through the canyons . . talk about soul food! You guys make it look easy, carving with the thumpin' v2wins - I think that was the best workout the S1 had in a long time! Yeah we have to find out when that show is gonna air - I want to record that sucker! We're all going to be famous (or maybe infamous?!?)! It will be interesting to see some of that canyon footage – I’m not sure where we were being filmed at times so it’ll be a surprise – kinda like that Disneyland ride where they snap your picture coming down that steep drop-off!!! That was cool how the officer blocked traffic for our departure! All in all everybody did real good – except for the Night Train . . I think he scraped somewhere and caused some damage? And Jim with the cracked front mount – but at least that was discovered before and he still got to have fun thanks to Saro and his HD. And Steve – if you’re gonna crash, man that’s the way to do it! Right in front of the dealer, parked and only a few dollars worth of damage! The folks at Glendale Buell seem to be pretty cool . . . and from what I’ve been told are a great bunch who support the efforts of the Buelligan coalition! See y’all out there! Rock and Roll. Tony

Sunday's ride was fun in a different sort of way. James showed up to Glendale with a busted front motor mount. YIKES! Unfortunately, Glendale's usually well stocked parts department didn't have a Blast motor mount. So, on top of already feeling like a total Doofus for riding a Dyna in a Buell ride, I got to be a Doofus with a rather not small passenger. WHAT A FREAKIN' RIOT!!!! I'm REALLY hoping the film crew got a nice shot of James obstructing my rear view mirrors. It was a tough ride in a very fun, entertaining, schitzophrenic (?) sorta way. I got to really feel some differences in our riding styles and had to adapt to an earlier apex - but it was all good. Entertaining nugget #2... ALWAYS carry a bar of Irish Spring with you. If you get a bit overzealous on your Softtail while trying to keep up with a certain Firebolt rider and wind up grinding THROUGH your primary case, you can always seal up the hole with a little soap. Scary thing is that I've heard of the soap trick before. Hopefully we'll get some more Southern Cal folks hangin' out with us. It's really a fun group and we really do have a great effin' time. -Saro |

Hey Tony, We ought to try to pull together a between-the-BRAG ride in next week or so. Gonna get another spot of good weather. If you're down Simi way, we can always mount up down your neck of the woods and head out/up/over the hills. Now that the weather is warming, Newcomb's will probably have a LOAD of scooters out for weekend lunch times. Gotta keep to the speed limits on ACH but that's tolerable. Maybe lets set something up?? The Glendalians have been most helpful. Kinda nice that Ernie and Chris and Mario ALL ride Buells AND hit track days whenever possible - they aint just sales geeks. They've always been there to help - Sunday was no real surprise, they're good folks. Those broken parts didn't cost hardly anything. They seem to cut their regulars a lot of slack (BRAG discount is 10%) If I had had a bad experience, there are plenty of other places that I could have bought my second Buell from but they have been treating me right and they do support the BRAG group. If you can get a day during the week, you gotta come out to Willow to do a track day. Really too much fun and NO DOUBLE YELLOW!!! See you on the outside soon Ride well. What a great BRAG ride last Sunday! Imagine us being filmed group riding on the 101 Fwy, twisting around Mulholland & contesting a Battletrax (and not crashing). I've always looked forward to riding the twisties on Mulholland, 23 & Potrero with my friends. Thanks to Tim, Candice, Ernie & Chris at Glendale for making it happen. Let's hope the film turns out OK. Tim & Candy's gonna get a copy and have showing soon. Izzat Cool or what? Anybody notice the yellow Mopar with the outrageous wing and license plate that read, "HWAYSTR" on the fwy? I think we were the Highway Stars that day! I'm sorry that the Harley rider and Tyler, his riding partner, missed out on the Battletrax. Anybody heard of their plight? You adventurous MC camping types, don't forget the Songdog Spring Rally this Saturday. Call beforehand for a reservation. Sparky |

Anybody want to meet at Newcomb's Ranch tomorrow for lunch? The weather is going to be too nice to stay at work so a few of us are going to take an extended lunch break and be at Newcomb's at 11:30 We can get forgiveness at work so we're not asking permission. No coat, tie or reservations. |

Hey Mr. Slaughter - I might have to stay close to home this weekend - ya see I was supposed to help the little darlin' out with our wedding invitations last weekend, but instead I ended up at Glendale Buell and, well the rest is history! So the S.O. and I are making this weekend the deadline to get those suckers out! Still - post here what you're planning and if I do get to go out and play, then . . . ! As far as the lunch thing - no can do here! I am honoring our strict, 40 minute lunch thing! For now . . maybe in the future I'll be able to set my OWN lunch break! Sparky - that yellow Mopar was badass! It was the only other vehicle I could hear outside of the thundering Buell & Harley pack! Tim and Candice are going to have a showing of the film?!? Cool - can I come to watch? James - didn't mean to call ya Jim in the earlier post - seems I thought everybody was Jim on Sunday - called Tim Jim, the other Tim (Timbo) Tim (so that one was right!) and James Jim! Uh . . yeah, or something like that! Rock and Roll. Tony |

Tony, nice meeting you at glendale, maybe I'll actually get a chance to ride with you! I was half heartedly joking with Saro about riding the Battletrax course two-up... That would have been crazy. Sparky that Mopar was just too cool. The fact that a police officer blocked traffic for us was cool too. James |

Hey Tony, Don't want to be a bad influence! (just note that I am trying very hard not to be an irresponsible adult - but fail regularly) Congrats on the impending nuptials! Gonna buy her a bike or do that ring thing? (sorry, I did say I wasn't going to be a bad influence now, didn't I?) |

Interesting you ask . . . well I already got her a ring - so I'm covered there. But she sometimes hints that she wants to ride . . so I'm thinkin' about picking up a smaller dirt bike or similar to get her started. Bad influences are good for me, see because now I have a scapegoat. "It was that damn Steve - he made me do it!" |

Tony, Get her to do the a rider safety course, at least she will get some street experience. Last time I checked, Blasts were pretty affordable... James |
