Alex, There are two sites that you should check out. The first is for gear, it is were I got my leathers. http://www.newenough.com/index2.htm The second is for the group that runs on the track in abq. http://www.smri-racing.org/ For the track day I did this summer, you didn't have to have full leathers, but you had to have a suit that would zip together. the site gives you all that you need to know. Okay, roads are dry today. I did about 35 mile ride for lunch. Still in the low 30's, but I know how to pack the clothes on now Just my hands get cold still. Little hard to start, but not as bad as the ride with you, Bart. My idle has always been low, which I like the rumble . The tach shows about 800-900. So, I heard that when it's cold to raise it some and that might help. So, after my ride, I turned it up to about 1000 or just under on the tach. Hopefully the next cold start will be easier. |

I didn't have the luxury of a 4 wheeled vehicle, since I've changed jobs. I rode into work on Monday, On Tuesday, I tried to ride in, but only made it as far as the front gate of my complex, almost fell three times, turned around and went back home, only to discover a voicemail from work telling us to stay home. (go figure) Wednesday, another snow day, told to stay home. I rode that afternoon to a job interview, freeway was clear, but surface streets still had ice, and frozen slush. Thursday, rode to work. The city X cranked pretty slow that morning, the cold, and electric clothes are taking their toll on the two year old battery. Roads were bad, lots of black ice everywhere, except on base. 22 degrees when I left home. Put the bike on a trickle charger that night. Friday, rode into work, still 20 something, less ice, but still bad in the morning. Afternoon wasn't bad though. Can't ride the Honda in this slippery stuff, too much HP, it just wants to spin the rear tire. I can control the city x alot better in the snow. Getting ready to run out to the Ponderosa this afternoon, see how the back side of the mountain is. Maybe Cedar Crest tomorrow?????? |

So, you are on a new job and you are still doing interviews? Did you tell crane care to take a hike or what? Bet you miss that little S-10 this week, eh? Well, I don't think I'll see any of you before Monday, so Merry Christmas. Hope everyone has a nice one. Bart: Take it easy in the winter weather. Don't want to hear of you wiping out because of snow or ice. |

I'll be down there Tues for more MSF stuff, let me know if you want a ride to a store. I'm thinkin about taking a ride down to Madrid one day this week. I've been off for 5 days and I'm already bored.... |

Well, I bought the boy a Honda 150 dirt bike for Christmas. You should have seen his face! it's a nice little trail bike, air-cooled one cylinder. We're at Grandma's right now, so we'll go tomorrow to get him a helmet and some boots. Then I'll use that handy dirt field behind my house to teach him how to ride. Should be fun. |

Nice present. I put in 40 miles on Christmas day and I just did another 60. It's so nice out. I just came home to let the dogs out or I'd be out all day. I took Pajarito Rd all the way back to the end (12 miles). The first 3 are on asphalt, the rest are all dirt/whoops/washout/washboard/snow. Up and over the mesa. The Uly suspension works pretty well. I decided to take pictures today, but I only had my cell phone and the battery was almost dead, and they aren't very pretty. Hey, they aren't *that* bad once you resize them. 3 miles in, end of asphalt, overlooking from West towards the East. Sandias 9 miles in, at the top of the mesa about to go down, still going West. This is at the bottom the that picture looking back up at the top. Yeah, the cell phone pics *do* suck. |

Hope everyone had a great Holiday. My bike has been getting some miles, but they have been by my Brother who is in town for the holidays. He said 337 was a very icy yesterday so he turned around and came back. He did Thunderbird and then SFHD today and I told him to ask for Murrae, but he didn't get to meet you. Marcus took the opportunity to send back a note for me to come buy another bike. He rode 14 back and said it was in great condition. I wanted him to ride 4 while he was in town, but I was afraid of snow and ice up thru there. Anyone been across that road? What about the Enchanted Circle? Are those roads good for riding or too icy? I would like him to experience that ride before he leaves town if possible. Murrae, is Thursday or Friday better for me to call you about the teaching info? |

JM- I'm in Phoenix right now, my flight leaves at 10:55 tonight. Call me either tomorrow afternoon or Friday, whichever works. Call David Smith at 505-980-5714 and use me as a referral and tell him what's up. He'll interview you and arrange to meet up and pass off the books and info. He's the state director. Murrae |

Yea, I'm missing that S-10 now, but it's no big deal. The electrics are working good, and the scorpion syncs grab good enough on the slick stuff. I rode Hwy 337 Saturday, the 23rd, and it was clear, just ice and slush on the shoulders. I had lunch at the Ponderosa. Kim, The Guv'ment won't allow studded tires on the air base. I'm still trying to figure out which bike I can do without in exchange for four wheels... Decisions, decisions... |

Bartimus- One of the guys here has a 95 Toyota that has had clutch and tires replaced, gets 40+mpg and is in great shape. Three grand. His name is Marcus. Sorry to hear you're giving up a bike. Hope the new job is good. Murrae |

??? Murrae, STOP being a salesman for a minute ! I'm NOT looking to buy a 4 wheeled vehicle!!! I have a couple down in Las Cruces. I'm NOT looking to SELL, or TRADE, ANY of my bikes. I'm merely thinking of which one I can ride DOWN to 'Cruces, and LEAVE down there, when I drive one of my cars back up here... It's not a big deal, just a choice I need to make, to get a warmer drive to work. The new job is going fine, a little boring compared to what I was doing, It's not easy being a Gov'ment contractor, but someone's gotta do it. |

Who wants to ride?!??!?!?
:-) I'm not even sure that I can get my car out. It was tricky getting home last night, I got there just as they were closing I-25. So I had to take 14 (I had to lie to get through the road block) home, it took 2.5 hours. Surprize, I only saw three other vehicles on the road. It would have been better if they hadn't tried to plow. (There was just one lane down the middle) They really need to learn how to plow around here. |

Jeez Dude, chill out- I'm not trying to sell anything-it sounded like you were looking for a car and a friend has a great one for sale. Next time I won't bother. Sounds like you need an enema. |

Murrae, sounds like you've already had an enema... Shinobi, I work for Boeing in bldg 752 at the SE end of the main runway, (down by the run-off area) In the laser technology center. Kim, still snowing up there? LOL Looks like we've set a record for the most snow in one day down here. Tough job coming home yesterday, VERY slippery on the streets, and my complex was just one big skating rink. I did get a couple of doughnuts in though before I parked the bike. Buellin, this snow is just good clean fun for a northeasterner like me. It's all good! (the snow does tend to pack up around the front brake though, and the cheesegrater don't stop the slush from putting a line of crud down the center of my back). |

BOYS!!!! Play nice!!! Yup, it is still snowing up here. Don't think I've seen this much snow since I moved here I've kinda missed winter. I dug the truck out this morning and ran a couple of errands. I got stuck for two hours trying to check on the horses out at the horse park. I won't be drivin' that road for a while. At least I had company two other vehicles were stuck. I might not have gotten stuck but I was trying to avoid them and got to close to the ditch. OH Well..... |

Murrae, Sorry I didn't call. With the crazy weather we were having, I've been a bit busy. Had to dig out my gate so I could get out of the yard. Had to give the wife a crash course in winter driving and then spent the rest of the time dragging the kids around on their sleds with the 4 wheeler. All this snow gave me flashbacks of growing up in Cleveland. Of course I had a snow-blower there and didn't have to use the shovel very much. I will call David this coming week I promise. Thanks for all the info. |

JM- Not to worry- I may be in Albuquerque next week to bring other candidates down for observations. If so, we can meet up at the range and you can talk to David. This is the most snow I've seen here since the mid 80s- we have 24-25". Be safe out there- sounds like you're having fun. Happy New Year |

JM- I'll ping you when I know what's up. If not, just call David and get the materials. You can go by the range anytime- it's at the old DMV building on the west frontage road. Let me know if you need directions. Happy New Year to everyone. The city here says it may take up to three weeks (?!?!?!?) to get everything back to normal here- some spots in town got 35" of snow and they only have 6 snowplow trucks. The snow sucks right now but we'll appreciate it later in the year- maybe we can actually get out of drought status in '07. I'm glad I have my DRZ stored at the shop. Also sounds like time to plan a Mexico trip. |

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all... btw; Murrae...I e-mailed you on your other account (not sure if u got it) about a possible track day with PJ's Triumph. PJ wants to sponsor one or two for Euro bikes ONLY to avoid track traffic jams by dozens of kidz on Japanese bikes but also wants to keep the cost down. Maybe some collaboration will make it cheaper for everyone? Euro + Buell? Just a thought since you talked about a track day at the riders course. |
