Just wanted to let everyone know, we got our first TT in yesterday. It should be on the showroom after Christmas. I have to tip toe on it, but not like I do the Uly. Plus they did away with the cheesegrater. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. |

Sportymark - Thanks for the company today. It's a lot more fun to make that trip when I'm not alone. On the way back I took you down the route I had intended to take when we got lost. Apparently I can only find it in one direction. I was telling you about my search for lights. Here is the bracket I was telling you about. It does not come with lights on it: I wrote and asked for a recommendation of what type of light to put on it. She suggested several brands, but this is the only specific model she mentioned: http://www.autoanything.com/lights/69A2141A0A0.asp x There are so many different lights to choose from I'm sort of overwhelmed. I like the mounting system you had for your lights as well. I wouldn't need a bracket that way. I'm guessing it just clamps around the forks? Any suggestions appreciated. |

Rebecca gave me an 07 seat today! I like it. No seam on the side and I'm closer to the ground. |

Nice seeing you today Jim.. Very nice to meet you Mark. My son enjoyed showing you his newly found riding skill and his new bike. It was a very nice break from home improvement hell. Later on I took the HP2 for a romp in the Gamelands. I found a trail I have never been on. Deep sand, big whoop de doos, water crossings, and ruts. It went on for a long time. I crossed this one big/deep water hole and after I turned around I came back to it. I don't really know what happened but I suspect I found a rut in the deep dark water. I made it out without drowning the bike but when I exited the the water I realized I was headed on a trajectory inconsistent with my intended direction of travel. Shortly thereafter I found myself entangled in branches and small trees still on the bike parallel to the trail but approximately 3-4 feet below the trail, off an embankment. Once I scrambled back up on to the trail, I looked with amazement at the bike below. That was one moment I really wished I had the camera with me. So, I'm deep in the woods, alone, and could not even tell anybody where I was 'cuz I didn't know. FIrst, I cleared all the brush from around the bike and then tried to figure out how to extricate the beast from this trap. Tried to drag it up by the front salvaging bars. No Way. I was sweating. Finally, I figured out that if I dragged the rear wheel further down the slope, the bike would at least be pointed up the bank towards the trail. It worked. Then I fired the beast up and it happily roared to life. My plan was to put it in first and walk it up the bank back onto the trail. My big concern was whether it would get traction as it was wet and I was off the bike so little weight on the wheel. Success! All that torque walked it back up onto the trail. NO DAMAGE! That bike is a beast and loves adventure. Put my gear back on, took off, rode about 6 miles on the trails back to the road and headed home, thankful for the ride and to be headed home and not looking for help. Did I say the bike is an absolute beast? I wanted a totally over the top bike and I think I found it. It seems to be getting the best of me and I love it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL! |

Great time today riding with Jim, the misty and wet roads of the morning led to a great afternoon. Got to meet rubberdown and see his playtoy(may that bike is cool in so many regards) and see his son's bike and learns when riding through doors with wet leaves is bad. and Jim even pulled a 'Uly' on me and turned down a wet clay and gravel road! but the sportster trudged through the mud and got me back to almost dry roads, but not nearly as well as the Uly. |

Rubberdown - sounds like you're enjoying your new toy. Glad your plan worked out and you didn't have to search for help. JimN - you and Rebecca will love that 07 seat. Let us know what you decide on extra lights. We've been talking about them for Carlos' Uly as well. With school and work, we've been lazy on the research department! All C3 - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Safe travels for anyone hitting the highway this holiday season. Hope Santa is good to you all! |

Merry Christmas from East Troy, Wisconsin! It's a little bit (well from what I hear, a LOT) colder up here than it is back in NC. The only snow remaining from a snow of just over a week ago are some snowbanks that haven't melted yet. This is the first time I made the trip home by car and interestingly, I didn't drive... I rode in a car, well SUV, all the way up here. What an interesting ride... If I still find the pictures interesting when I get back to NC I will post them. Merry Christmas, 1313 |

Merry Christmas too all!! Rode the Uly to get my last Christmas shopping done. Rode too Kinston, then Greenville, then New Bern for Christmas Eve at my Mother-in-law's and then back home to Grifton. Beautiful day and a great ride considering it was on transportation detail and not joy riding detail. I hope tonight I hear a fat man on a red sleigh land on the roof instead of three black men in a Chevy Corsica land in the side yard!! And too all a good night!! |

I got the DELUXE Buell Tank Bag. Pretty cool. Let's see, 42 liters x 2, plus 40 liters x 2 (with the Ventura Bag), plus the 20 liter Tank bag equals 184 liters worth of storage. Man, all I need is the Stow-n-Go bag and I have enough room to go away for three weeks!! Hey! Do you think Kristi is trying to tell me something? (Message edited by M2nc on December 25, 2006) |

Here's an off the wall question - well, maybe not that off the wall... Does anyone, particularly those around Winston Salem, happen to know a Charles Matthew von Isenburg? The address I have for him is on Brookstown Ave. in Winston Salem. He used to own a S1, which is now owned by a friend of my friend Frank in Germany. The new owner wants to get in touch with him, just to let him know that his old bike is in good hands. Like you expected a 'normal' question from me... 1313 Oh yeah, Merry Christmas too! |

Merry Christmas C3 I got to go home for Christmas See my mom and "little" brother. ( Time off from work ) I was able to do some light home improvement projects for mom, new mailbox & post, a wall plug in the hall, Got Mike some stuff he needs just now. Nuts could you have your neighbor contact me? Via a PM My wheels are likely going to Classic coatings ( where Buell used to get coating done ) for clear coating The polishing I have done is fair to good with some bad gouges still present Santa came early to the "dog house" this year, total over haul stoppers at both ends re bush and seal the front end, new wheel bearings coating the wheels, I may do the clutch and release. Daytona T- 100 and counting... |

My mom gave me some cash for Christmas and told me to spend it on my motorcycle. My current plans are to to add lights and coat the headers and muffler. I've already got a post about the lights, so here is one about the headers. Jethot is the name everyone knows. But there is another company called high performance coatings which caught my attention because they are in Whitsett, NC which is only 60 miles away. I could drive the headers up to them and cut a few days off my turn around time. I looked around their website, and it looks like a reputable company. They have their prices online and mention Buell by name. Has anyone ever heard of them? http://www.hpcoatings.com/services/pricelist.aspx BTW, it seems that the most popular coating color is shiney metalic. Personally I prefer black. But then again I have no artistic eye. Opinions? |

Jim, HPC coatings does FINE work! Remember the blue header on the X1W? Guess who did the work for Buell? Over the years I've had a few race headers coated by HPC (but through their Salt Lake City location - old connections), and it has held up very well on the one remaining coated race header I have. If I ever cleaned it, it would look much better. Funny you should ask though, because on my way up here I was surprised to see their building along I-40. I never noticed it there before, so I am assuming they just moved there... 1313 |

Thanks for the info Brankin. I guess that explains why they specifically list Buell in their price list. |

Hello from Cincinnati! We made it in about 12 hours. Not too bad considering we traveled with 3 children and my mother! The children are excited because it's cold enough to blow snow at the ski resort that my Dad teaches at, so they will get to go tubing! |

Jim-- just noticed your post about the lights; I went with PIAA 910's and some Sylvania silverstar's. Made a bracket myself like the one in your previous post. The PIAA's flat out rock. I leave next week for a looong trip but if your interested in seeing them drop me a note some time before Tuesday. Tim |
