Count me in, Murrae. The "Ride" was the only trip I got this summer so I need some more seat time. The car has been hogging all my time and $. See you on the 25th. Kim |

Um, you seem to forget I do field service work for a living. I'm constantly travelling. I've been out in Arizona, up in four corners, and in southern New Mexico... I don't know where I'll be next week, But I do know what I'm doing this weekend... Riding! |

That's a tempting idea. I've been so busy with house stuff and work that I really haven't ridden at all since the rally. Sucks. You going on Sunday? Where are you going? I'll see if I can arrange to be free. |

I havn't ridden much since the rally either. I have a PGR commitment on Saturday, but I'm thinking of running out to the Ponderosa on Sunday for lunch. Not much of a ride, but still, a few curves to soothe the soul.

PGR? What's that? Professional Gay Rodeo? Whatever blows your skirt up, buddy. |

That's a pretty mean thing to say... considering that today is "Veterans" Day, I guess since YOUR not a veteran you wouldn't know OR care. The PGR stands for "Patriot Guard Riders" and they are a group of "Veterans" that support Veterans and veterans families. |

WHOA!! Slow down there, cowboy! Just because I'm not a veteran doesn't mean I don't care. What most vets don't always get is that the volunteer military doesn't let EVERYONE volunteer, no matter how many times they try. PS: I just finished a good new book about Marines in Afghanistan and Iraq. One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick. Ending wasn't that good, but the rest was very interesting. |

I would like to thank everyone who took the time, patience, and ride with me. I am honored to be in the last brag run and it was fun. If anyone has any photos of me and could send them to my e-mail, I would appreciate it. Take care! |

Hello, and yes it did. I was just getting back into ABQ from a PGR ride to Santa Fe. Traffic was heavy right at the edge of town. Then I just passed Hwy 40, still on Hwy 25 south, traffic just opened up about 1/4 mile back and some jackass in a truck flies across all lanes from right to left, I'm in the middle lane, and comes up real fast on the bumper of the car next to me almost hits it, tries to push the car faster, so I slow a little to let them get around and the truck ass cuts me off with about 5 feet from my front tire so I flip this wonderful driver off. So, he sees this and steps on the brake, so I move over a lane, plays speed up and slow down next to me, come over about 1 foot from me yelling telling me to pull over, so I speed up, he comes up about 1 foot from my rear tire, i pull over a little, hit my brake kick his fender (I think I barely contacted, maybe I left a foot print, definately no dent or anything) and slow down more and he flies down the road a little and then waits for me at Bridge, I act like I'm going to pass him and he goes and then I get off at Bridge and go home the back way. I was just so pissed off about it all I was going to type it the other day but then just erased it. I know, it was stupid, I just need to let assholes go by, but he almost ran me over the first time. So, that ruined my pretty good day. |

Sounds like there's nothing wrong with that guy that a severe beating won't fix. Did you get his plate number? I know some people who know some people... and anyway we could pay him a visit. |

Welcome Rick. I know that we all can relate, it is really hard to just let it go. I need to work on that too. I've gotten way too good at flipin' cagers the bird. I really want a paint gun (nice bright pink color) for those types. Tag the back of the vehicle so they don't notice until they get home. |

No, I didn't get it. I was too mad and trying to not get run over at the time to remember it. I've thought about keeping something to write on, but where would I put it? My cell phone has a voice record feature, but then again, I can't grab it and ride at the same time either. I've dreamt about the paintgun thing too! hehe That's funny. For a small city, I think there are more idiots out here. I see so many bad drivers everytime I go out in the car or on the bike. An hour ago I went for short ride to go get gas. Coming home, it's 2 lanes. I have about 5 cars in front of me and we're going the speed limit, some jerk in a van comes from 2 cars behind me, passes all 7 of us and swerves in about 3 to 4 car links before hitting another car head on. Guess what, he's just racing to the red light which was just like maybe 20 car links in front of that. So we all catch up. Next red light, we all catch up again. Ruined my ride again. Somedays taking a deep breath just doesn't calm me down, but I try to have a great time. Usually, I just have to go around the edge of town for an open ride. I like going West on Rio Bravo up the hill, over 40 up past double eagle airport and you end up near the petroglyphs. Then turn around and come back. Nice little ride out there. |

I just passed Hwy 40, still on Hwy 25 south, traffic just opened up about 1/4 mile back and some jackass in a truck flies across all lanes from right to left, I'm in the middle lane That's a rough spot, 'cause you've got college students burning into Lomas and Bernalillo rednecks burning into Central, all trying to get in ahead of the traffic merging from I-40. So they cut across 5 lanes at 80. I see so many bad drivers everytime I go out New Mexico drivers are pretty notorious. They even have a name for them. New Mexico drivers. Did you just move here? You'll get used to it. They actually have a method. Most of the time. Except for the pickup rednecks, the big hair chicas, the grannies, and the gravel trucks.. them you just have to stay ahead of. I commute from S.Fe to UNM.. I hold the left lane at 75 or faster to stay in front from Bernalillo to just past Lomas. Then you have to time your move over, if you're getting off on Central. The good thing about the Buell is no one can keep up. I've passed the Lomas off-ramp at 80+ before rolling off at Central. Sounds insane looking back on it but that's the way to survive, stay ahead of them. Just watch out for the cops, they merge on between Jefferson and the big I. As for road rage, you can't get into it without a gun or you're gonna lose. A gun and about 20 years to spare. Of course on a bike you're gonna lose anyway. Best just to open 'er up and stay ahead of 'em. Don't mean to sound preachy, that's just how I survive w/no problems on that stretch of road. Kickin the side of a moving truck on I-25 sounds pretty out of control to me. Best not even to get to that point. Kim, I might be up for a ride on Weds, shoot me an email if you want to go. |

Well, my wife got a job here in Feb 2005, so we moved from San Jose. Over 1 million people in SJ, but if you include all the other surrounding cities, well over 2 million. It's a problem there too, but I'm just saying I think it's worse here and there are way way less people here. I thought the Bay Area attitude was all 'me first', but really see so much worse here. People don't wait for you to slow down to turn here. If you turn left, they fly off into the dirt to pass you (I'm just waiting for them to fly off into the ditch or the telephone pole so I can laugh at them). If you turn right, they cross into incoming traffic. And I love the people the drive 50 down the middle lane to pass 5+ cars at a time. They tailgate you like mad and you're already doing 5-10mph over. You tap the brake or you slow down and then you really piss people off here and they almost smack your bumper to push your car faster. It's clear they don't know how to drive well here. Oh, and if you're drunk, I'm convinced it's even easier to get a license, they just say scribble your name here and hand you the license, no test needed. And you wonder why the morning radio always has 5+ accidents every single morning. That's the first time I got on the highway on the bike and it was in rush hour at 5pm. I usually just ride for lunch for an hour or so, so I miss commute traffic. |
