Justed wanted to add that Al had mentioned doing some weekend (fri, sat, sun) rides next year as a club event. These would likely be headed to The Great Smokey Mtn/West Virginia areas and would be a blast. Al who has been, knows some great roads and great places to stay so keep this kind of a trip in mind for next year. |

Hey Al and Shawn, I am in need of some dirt road riding before the winter comes... you guys up for it? I am going to get a Gazateer (sp?) and see if there are some good stretches of dirt to ride for one of these upcoming weekends. Just fire road kind of stuff... What do you think? I have to say the best part of my trip was the dirt I rode, just because it was different and fun. Water crossings and all! Anybody is welcome if they want to subject their bike to the abuse also. I'm up for just about anything. Find the roads and I'll likely follow. I'll need to get around to ordering some heated gear too! Last Saturday turned out to be a pretty nice day to ride. I was wishing that we had made it to the meeting, but it was too late by then. The reason we weren't there, wasn't so much to do with the weather as it was us just needing some time at home. We'd been gone most of the past week or two. The previous weekend Heather's mother was in a pretty serious moto-accident. We were in Chicago (different locations) at the time when we got the news. It was a rush trip home (to Kansas - Hospital in Wichita)because it didn't look good. She's out of the ICU now and back home, but she has a long and painful road ahead, but should make a full recovery. She ended up with a fractured vertebra at base of her neck, a broken collar-bone, forearm, bone in hand, and a chipped shoulder socket. Went wide on a curve and did some Agricultural riding. Good news is, it was the first day with a new helmet, for the first time! Sorry we missed the meeting though! |

Dang! Lucky lady with the helmet and all. You didnt miss much at the meeting. No ride afterwords either. Me and Erin went to the humane society and got me a kitty though. Just didn't feel like a good day for riding. Ill let you know what I find regarding the dirt. |

I got the map. Looks like some interesting stuff around Lake Monroe down here. I checked up your way Shawn and just looked like straight roads and such. I will do whatever you are up for. I think it would be fun to go and explore some dirt and see what we find. Let me know, does this weekend work for you? |

There is a pretty long gravel/dirt road off 446 that called Tower Ridge road (page 50 sec D-5 Indiana Gazetteer). You can wander around in that section for quite a few miles.I think I am tied up deer hunting this weekend, maybe free Sunday...bike is still in the shop. AL |

Personally I would rather have more gravel & dirt on the straights and LESS on the curves! I hear Eddie kind of likes a little gravel on the curves though! Seriously though, I'll have to get back to you on how this weekend looks. The roads around your neck of the woods are probably more interesting. Oh yeah, I have one small problem... I had to leave my Uly in Chicago at my mom's place the week before last. Heather met me there out in the burbs and we took her Jeep back home. I'm not adverse to taking my 9S where ever the road may lead, but I'm already past the wear bars on the rear. Maybe not such a good thing for gravel. Hmmm... |

Sounds like you need a paddle buddy! Chicago is a dreadful place to go to have to pick up a motorcycle. (Message edited by wademan on October 19, 2006) |

IT IS INDEED A DARK DAY FOR US ALL.............. LATEST HORRIBLE NEWS DEPARTMENT: THE BUELL ORGANIZATION IS CEASING ALL BRAG FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATION WITH LOCAL CLUBS. IT WAS NICE WHILE IT LASTED, BUT IT'S ALL OVER NOW................. OUR CLUB WILL CONTINUE, BUT WITH NO BUELL ORGANIZATION OR COMPANY AFFILIATION. SO GUYS, LETS KEEP OUR GROUP TOGETHER. WITHOUT BRAG, WE NEVER WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER, BUT THEIR BOWING OUT IS NO REASON FOR US TO ABANDON OUR ASSOCIATION. THERE IS PLENTY OF FUN TO BE HAD !!!!!! WE WILL STILL HAVE THE SUPPORT OF JEFF AND HIS CREW, THANKFULLY. WE NOW HAVE THE CHANCE TO EXPAND INTO A GENERAL SPORTBIKE CLUB ALLOWING US TO EXPAND....LET'S DO IT !!!! |

First harley stopped selling buells and now they don't have a club for us just out of the blue. Why did they shaft us like that? Anyone want a Buell |

please read the buell owners' section on the buell website, which will give you an idea of what is going on. they haven't forsaken us, but some things have changed. as i said before, OUR CLUB WILL STILL FUNCTION. we just will not be lorded over by the buell brass. there will still be buell events, but BRAG is over. no reason to sell any bikes to go asian or euro....chill out |

From the Buell communications front. BRAG has indeed been "discontinued"! The "company" has decided to end it's support of BRAG clubs on a national level. However, a new "Owners" section of www.buell.com is being created and will contain all information on Buell (but you can't use the name) clubs and activities and will come online in 2007. Homecoming will continue and be open to all Buell owners and is "tentatively" planned for 2007. Buell will continue to host special hospitality at rallies, events and the International Motorcycle Show. Some BRAG member benefits will be available but will require a "fee". The "Wicked Twisty" tours, local gatherings and Buell rides will continue in 2007and be promoted in Fuell. Fuell magazine will be offered in 2007 but you must go to the newly formed "Owners" section of buell.com and update your profile in order to continue to receive the newsletter. Basicly,we are encouraged to continue our local club without the use of the BRAG or BUELL logo and name or "factory" support. This involves a hugh commitment and expense for the local dealerships. For Thunder Club,it is yet to be determined just how we are going to continue and in what manner but to in order to continue we must have rider interest and support. We'll wait and see how it all shakes out. |

Its not the end of the world guys.......at first glance it might look like Buell abandoned us but when you read all the info on Buell.com you'll see that they have not. The only thing that I'm a little upset about is our new patches are suddenly worthless, as the rules now state we can't use the word "BRAG". *Edit: Oops, no they don't. Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking when I said that. * I'm sorry that I have been MIA for a while. Sometimes life just catches up with you. I'm back and things are good, just sorry to see the cold weather rolling in as it seems like I didn't get to do nearly enough riding this year. Oh well. There's always next year. our patches and shirts are not worthless.....they are now collector's items. we are no longer allowed to have new designs using brag or buell, but since these are already made, it is a done deal. it is obvious that for us to continue, INTEREST,ATTENDANCE, AND GROUP SUPPORT OF OUR EVENTS WILL BE CRUCIAL TO OUR SURVIVAL. let's stay together.......... |

Hey guys it's been awhile since I've said much on this board, but I really hope (and have faith) that this club will stick together. I came down last summer for the Thunder Rally Ride and had such a good time meeting everyone and riding. They say you meet the best people through these bikes and I really felt that way after that weekend. I only wish I lived closer because I would really like to be involved with you guys on a more regular basis. I do plan on coming down this coming summer for at least the Thunder Rally if not more. I also REALLY want to go to homecoming this summer, but don't want to go alone and I hope that maybe you guys would be interested in another "Hoosier Bueller" to accompany you. Stick together down there guys. I'm itching to get down there again soon!!! |
