Thanks for the info Nutsnbolt. I'll check into that. But for the time being, I put the clear shield back on today, and will use sunglasses. |

Mark, I'm glad you wrote. I'm not wrong, am I? How many comments do you get about the yellow glasses? I get more than I wish I did. On top of that, I also have a yellow lense on my helmet. I used to get a bunch of crap about it until one night in California in December at about 11p.m. 4 of us riding back home to base, 37 degrees out and they all have their visors open. Not me. One guy, honest, had a slight icing issue happening to his moustashe (think dumb and dumber) 2 weeks later, 2 of them got yellow visors. The other one moved to Texas ( He doesn't count.) Anyway, I didn't mean to call you out on your glasses, but you were a great visual reference. Later. Mark |

Sportymark - As I may have told you, my Blast won't idle on the kickstand. It something in the safety system. I just found a whole thread dedicated to this problem, and it seems to be caused by a loose bolt behind the primary cover. How hard do you think it would be to fix this: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=20164&post=187793#POS T187793 Lafayette had some suggestions to. Do these make sense to you? So no "Judge" for me. I made it to the top two but that when the ride ended. Oh well, it would have put an end to my lawless behavior anyway. I think a new bike will cheer me up. |

I have had primary covers off plenty of times but never pulled the primary chain itself. |

I have. I need that neat gizmo of Brankin's that locks the two drive spockets together so you can loosen them. I have a picture somewhere of the primary out the M2 the last time I tried to fix the leak between the engine and primary. Nuts - You talked me into it. I need a new visor for the Scorpion, I am going to get a yellow one. Thanks |

Jim first try disconnecting your kickstand safety circuit - just cut and twist the wires together - if that is your problem - problem solved - that circuit is a bane to a lot of Blasts, including the red bike - lol - then if that doesn't do it, do plan B and investigate your primary. Jim, I did the same thing that EZ is saying to the M2 a year ago and still not replaced it. It just bypasses the switch. |

I am sure bypassing the sidestand switch would work. However it isn't broken. The bike knows when the stand is up and when it's down. I really don't want to fix it that way if the real cause of the problem is a loose bolt in my transmission. |

Jim, the switch does not appear broken, but the mechanism on the inside of the switch housing sticks open. Here is a picture of the side stand switch off the M2
I haven't read all the other posts on the other thread so I do not know why you are suspecting a loose fastener in the trans, but its worth looking into. |

Thanks Jim and Kristy. The guy with the Blast body parts e-mailed me today and I'm sending him a money order tomorrow for the parts. Now Minnie and Mickey will be the same color,Free the twins. \ I can see it now, Mickey and Minnie are on the loose, the twins are free. All we need now is a seat and the Blast will be like new. Later all Webe |

Carlos - Thanks for the pictures. The symptom is the bike will not idle in Neutral with the kickstand down. If you sit on the bike and raise the kickstand, then the bike will idle. This means the kickstand switch is working. It's the neutral switch thats broken. The safety system thinks you're in gear with the clutch out and the stand down. So it kills the bike. I was confused because the neutral light is on. This would indicate a working neutral sensor. What the posts I linked to reference is a loose bolt that holds the shifter detent plate and the neutral sensor on. This causes the neutral sensor come on and off with the vibrations of the bike, the symptom being the bike will not idle with the stand down. This apparently has happened to several people. Now, if I short the kickstand switch, the idle problem will go away. The bike will think the stand is up, so it won't matter if the neutral switch is working or not. However, if there is a loose bolt in there I want to know. And I hate to admit this, but the sidestand safety switch has saved my butt a couple of times. I'd like to keep it around. |

Hey Jim, I'm not a mechanic at all.. but I was just wondering... if the switch measures the vibrations of the motorcycle ... could the broken clamp make the motorcycle vibrate more?? and would that make the switch think the bike was in gear?... Just wondering... the switch probably doesn't measure the vibration of the whole bike but just the engine.. i just was wondering if the two problems could be related.... Paying attention, trying to learn Webe's BG |

Oldog - I will need one eventually. I have to go replace the seal again. It held great until I plugged up the vent tubes on the motor. I do not know when I will fix it though. I want a 1250 kit for it, but it is low in the pecking order. I figured if I had to open it up to replace gaskets, I might as well upgrade. |

Blastgirl - You're close. When I had the 5000 mile service on the bike done, the muffler was not reinstalled correctly. The front mount, where it connects to the bottom of the engine was left loose. I didn't realize what was wrong, and rode the bike for about 2000 miles like this. The vibrations produced by that have caused me no end of problems. They are what caused the problems with the header bolts, what probably caused my exhaust header to snap off. They probably fatigued the strap that broke this weekend as well. And it was during that time that I started having problems idling in Neutral. So yes, vibrations are bad. And loose mufflers make lots of vibrations. |
