Author Message   Ulywife Posted on Thursday, September 21, 2006 - 04:16 pm:        Remember the Pirelli tire issue in May? Well the dealer nor the distributor would back the tire. They claimed it was road damage, I however, beg to differ. Nonetheless, I ended up calling Pirelli and finally got around to mailing the tire to their Quality guy for his opinion of the tire. His analysis was that it was not a tire defect, but did appear to be cut by something like a box cutter. I still wasn't really happy, but that's fine. He said he'd send our tire back to us and that way we'd have a spare/backup. This was over 3 weeks ago. Monday I called Pirelli back and asked if our tire had been shipped because I hadn't seen it yet. Jeff informs me that I should have it by Thursday or Friday. I figure they forgot and shipped it when I called Monday to inquire about it. Tuesday, I spent 2 hours calling everywhere for a rear Pirelli for the Uly. No luck. Could find a rear Dunlop, but not a front.....I think ordering in bulk is an option! So, finally I find a set of Continentals, installed for $360. So, we're on for this weekend and ready for Boone. Turns out it was not a "matching set" of Contis, but will work. Carlos says the bike is very planted, but the rear tire probably won't last long. Big surprise! So today, I return home from picking the children up from school, and low and behold, there's a Pierlli by the back door. Something catches my eye - there are now white numbers around the tread of the tire and upon closer inspection, there is also a new tire description label around the tire........WOW, a new Pirelli Strada!! I think they probably ditched my tire by mistake and then had to send me a new one when I called and asked the status on the old tire!! All in all, it's been a good day! At least now we have a set of matching Stradas for the Uly ready to be mounted when the need arises! Love, Bad Influence   1313 Posted on Friday, September 22, 2006 - 12:19 am:        Some pictures of my excursion to Detroit: A sidetrip was in order on Monday night, since I was so close. Contrary to popular belief, it is not straight down, it's actually to the left... No skin, No bones, No service! How cool is that! I had previously been there twice on my S2 - so you can say in the 107,000 miles my S2 has traveled so far it has been to Hell and back twice... For my third time the rental HHR had to do the trick. Tuesday night I had dinner at Hooter's with some of the Metro Detroit Hooligans. (Spiderman, Hardcorps, D3r3k and Jugallo94) It's kind of funny when one of the patrons outdoes the Hooter's girls, don't ya think? The two brave souls who rode their bikes in the cold (I guess I have acclimated to the NC climate...) were Hardcorps and D3r3k. And, yes, the orange-shirted fellow with the cast is Spiderman. It's shame he can't drink for 6 months due to his recent accident with Mary Jane (his customized M2...), so when we met up with another Hooligan (Lou if I remember correctly) and headed over to O'Tooles for a few barley-pops I had to make up for Spidey's lack of consumption. If only I had known about O'Tooles beer bongs earlier... He got the bike for $7,000. Let's see...2/3 of retail price, the soon to be previous owner had it for 2 months (so 22 months of warranty coverage remaining), just broke in (so Christian can get on it and RIDE), and the first service has already been done (at a dealership) and paid for by the soon to be previous owner.
