Jack, I believe Eric means the 76 station on hwy 138 on the west side of the 15 fwy. I think your map has "got it". Sparky |

Well this will make the second Buell ride I miss this year due to the great charging system on my bike. Wish I could go. Never been to Big Bear. Anybody know of a cheap (<$2000) jap bike for sale that can do freeway speeds? |

Brian, You're welcome to ride my KLR six-fitty - it'll do 80mph on the freeway, it's reliable , it's had a motard make-over (including an oversized front rotor and street tyres), and in the canyons, you'll have no problems hangin'...

What timing, the Uly has no exhaust, waiting for a drummer, guess I'll need to check the battery on the old back up bike...thanks for the reminder! |

Looks like you have all the route stuff pretty well covered. Although, depending upon timing, we may not get all the way down to I-10 past Yucaipa. We may pop up Oak Glen Road to get to banning, see http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=12&ll=33.998312,-117.005768&spn=0.153986, 0.280838 We'll wing it from Idylwild. Folks heading south may want to drop the back way through Anza and down by Palomar 74 to 371 to 79), though I suspect that it will be late enough that we'll just tuck our tail between our legs and sprint it back home through Hemet (74 to State Street to Sage Rd, see http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=12&ll=33.998312,-117.005768&spn=0.153986, 0.280838). Orange/LA bound folks will likely take 74 to 15 or just continue across Ortega to I-5. For folks down here in San Diego, it's a bit of a hike to get to the 138 exit off I-15 by 8:30AM. Its a solid 1:45-2 hours depending on traffic. We'll meet at Biggs at a rediculously early 6:15AM for a 6:30AM Departure. Jeez, did I really just write that? |

Good morning EBear...great ride yesterday! It reminded me so much of the Cali BRAG Ride from what, 2002? We do suffer a lot here in LA with all our traffc, but when there is no traffic, think of the miles we traveled on Sunday. I left Culver City at 7:00AM, arrived at the 15/138 interchange at 8:00AM. We left 15/138 at 9:00AM, and we rode through Arrowhead, Big Bear, and down to Yucipa. I left there after getting gas and taking in a few minutes of rest at 12:30PM. I was home and in the house at 1:30PM. The freeways were incredibly clear. On the 10 Fwy. heading back west, if one person was going under 80mph, they had to be 80 yrs. old, because even the carpool lane was pushing 90. You gotta love it! It was great seeing everyone. Next stop, BUELLTON! See ya there! |

Hi Ebear. Yeah, Brian & I got stuck behind some cagers near the end. I guess, from my past experience on that end of the Ortega, I didn't want to push the "Hooligan button" any more, especially after doing some high-speed passes over the dbl-yel and encountering chippies busy on the side twice earlier in the day, I figured 3 might by my bad-luck number. But it was a great day for riding, all 288 miles worth. Like Scott said, it reminded me a lot of the Cali BRAG Ride, especially that one set of twisties with the white rock walls on the way to Idyllwild. Just b'chin'. Had a scare on the 405 going thru Long Beach. I was laying on the tank buzzing along at 80 on the right side of the carpool lane when unexpectedly a car passes me up with just inches to spare on my left. Wattadick! But, since I didn't readjust the mirrors for that position, well, what can I say? I was checking the mirrors about once a mile beforehand, though, and the lane was always clear. I guess this guy was passing the rest of the fwy by dodging in & out of the carpool lane, and I zoned out. So, watch yer six, always! |

Cindy and I both had a great time on Sunday. After we split from the group, Andrew, his wife Shelly, Cindy and I headed into Colton to have lunch at Sundowner – a local shrimp and steak restaurant where the food is great and the prices are really cheap. After lunch we went over to Chaparral Motorsports – that place is huge – where we got to touch, feel, and try on a bunch of gear, and check out the bikes they had on the showroom floor. I managed to score a really nice 3/4 textile Hein Gerick jacket on sale for $110. It was pretty warm as we headed back to Long Beach along the I-10, so, when it came up, we decided to take the 57 south to the 91 – temperatures dropped considerably which made the freeway commute a little more tolerable. We racked up at total of 250 miles. In addition to the great roads, breathtaking scenery (even though we didn’t stop to take pictures ), and the chance to meet up with old friends and new, for me, the added bonus was riding behind Cindy. Her skills have improved ten-fold in the years since she learnt to ride. I’ve got to say that I think the bike has a lot to do with it – she’s taken to the CityX like a duck to water. Anyway, I’m rambling, but I just wanted to say that it makes me proud to see her doing her thing in the middle of the pack. Thanks to those involved in putting this ride together Cheers -Jack |

Willow Springs this weekend is the Toyota 200 - richest purse of any race in the USA - $250,000! Come on out. We're pitting for Scott Jensen. All the regular Club racing has been moved to Saturday. Gate is bumped up to $30 freaking dollars however. That still is good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. |

Hey Jack, I agree and told Cindy her skills have improved. Heck, she was pretty much right behind me the whole day. The CityX is a great bike for the riding she is doing. See you two in BUELLton! Scott |

Great ride, Folks! No issues other than my haeder stud nuts dropping off on 243..Thanks Eric for fetching the new ones! Brians boss (forgot his name...) and I turned South on State Street in Hemet. Tried to stop all you guys in front but away you went. We waited on the corner for Chris (yellow Uly), and when we tried to flag him down, he didn't see us and went right by. We weren't in a good location to chase him down, and he was safe off the mountain, so we went home on Sage street. That road is a lot nicer than I remember it, it's going to be used on more rides in the future. We were flying pretty good through the twisties on that road. No wrecks, minimal mechanical fuss, little po-po action, great weather, over 400 miles on the day...what's not to like? Al |

Didn't do the Battletrax. Spent all day Saturday changing fluids on the S1 and trying to figure out what is wrong with its clutch. On my last trip to Knowlwoods SCAB mtg, it got real hard to shift coming home due to clutch drag. Then, after a while, it would free itself, alternately shifting OK and shifting hard. Probably something simple like worn-out or rusty balls in the ramp mechanism -- Boy, I bet there's a punch line in that remark. {Use it or lose it?} |

Sorry about holding you guys up. I'm still getting a feel for what I can do in the twisties. (All me. The Uly, of course, is fine). It was a great ride though. By the time I hit State Street, I had some serious tunnel vision wondering wtf the 79 was and if I was going to be in stop-n-go traffic all the way to the 15. Oh, and Al, after that ride, I don't think the rear is going to make it to 10k after all. It looks pretty worn down the middle and much closer to the wear bar than it did Sunday morning. - Chris |

Chris, No worries on "holding you guys up". You were right along behind us in a reasonable amount of time all day. Coming down the 74, we passed a lot of cars (legally, of course ) so we got pretty far ahead of you on that stretch I was waving like mad as you went by at State St. in Hemet, but you were more correctly focusing on the surrounding threats. Did that nice sweeping section of 74 finally get those nubs off your front tire? Cindy was riding great, nice and smooth, good lines, not tentative at all in the section I was behind Jack behind her. Well, we have Scott Jensen's A and B bikes all set for the race. Tomorrow night change tank on A Bike to the vacuum-break quick fill and then it's off to the races! We've got a decent team this year's T-200 and it's going to be exciting thinking of his potential next season now with his exposure on Superbikes on Speed channel the week before last. Those of you who make it, stop by the HD Buell of Glendale pits or Scott Jensen's pits (GPR Stabilizer - black box van) and say HI |
