Nance...I'm sure I could benefit from instruction, but to tell you the truth, Pat kinda wants me outta town that weekend. I'll probably take the offer. Just so happens I had scheduled the Friday and Monday off by rare chance. Fine by me. I can always find something to do! |

We lost power for about 4 hours. There's a lot of debris around, but as of right now, I don't see or haven't heard of any major damage. We live in base housing and we had a few shingles messed up. We'll call them on that so they can come out and fix it. I hope everyone else escaped this with little or no damage. |

Hey everybody... the Webes are fine. If I didn't know Ernesto was out there it would have just seemed like a regular rainstorm here (at the house, anyway). Lots of water. Went to bed around 2 a.m. and it was windy but not bad enough cause concern. At 7 a.m. it was just a light rain and not much wind. Webe said he had to try a couple of ways to get to work this morning...and that the power was flickering several times. I slept through that part (6 a.m.). We're fine, hope everyone else faired well. |

Hey Twig, I took RidersEdge last summer and the hardest part for me was the beginning... learning the clutch/throttle control. If Pat's willing and you are too then you and her might could practice that a bit before the class. Might make her more comfortable with it. They call it "Powerwalking". Just putting the bike in gear and letting the clutch out just enough for the bike to pull forward a bit.. and walk the bike. (can give more detailed instructions if needed but you probably know what i'm talking about) LOL They said I was the only one they had seen do it wrong!! .... so it might not be a problem for anyone but me but thought I'd share my experience. Oh and one more thing... I didn't pass my first time and took it again. I'm sure she'll do fine but if not, then she won't be the first to have to try again (I was Webesblastgirl |

I have never left for work in the eye of the storm before. Very Interesting, the eye of Ernesto was right over the house when I left for work. I get to work and one of group leaders that report to me called in. He said, "How did you get to work?" I said, "Don't you have a jacked up Dodge 4x4 Pick Up?" He said yes. I said, "Well I drove my wife's minivan in and if you can't make it in your truck, you need to sell it!" He came in 30 minutes later. I did make six water crossings on the way in. |

Well it appears that the 3rd time was the charm. The 3rd time my landlord has tried to have someone fix my roof, that is. Not a drop in my closet (I really hated all my skeletons getting wet...), so I guess I can put some clothes back into it. After work tonight I went to a buddy's house outside of Vanceboro to get a hone to hone out my piston pin bushings and saw some houses with flooded yards, but no real damage. No real damage in New Bern that I saw. 1313 |

Webesblastgirl... Are you some kind of a mind reader or what? I was thinking the exact thing while I was in the shower this morning. No way I can let Pat start the class without a ride through first gear. Nice office parking lot right around the corner. Thanks for the post...Oh, I just found out my oldest son finally got a real job in the workforce. He could not find crap in Raleigh, so he moved to Wilmington and found a stable arts/computer science job within two weeks . Nice to know the tuition fees did not go down the tube on this young man. Proud papa! |

Twig ... your welcome. Just thought I'd share since most of you guys have been riding a while, sometimes it takes a newer rider to remember what was hard in the beginning. I hadn't practiced anything when I went to the class and just knowing how to "powerwalk" the bike might have helped. I know we spent quite a while on that in the beginning.. walking the bike (while sitting on it of course) back and forth before we ever put our feet on the pegs. |

it takes a newer rider to remember what was hard in the beginning It is hard. I'd never riden a motorcycle before I walked into the MSF class. I was expecting it to be like riding a bicycle and it kicked my butt. What really makes it frustrating is you never have a chance to get good at one thing before you move on to the next. So you spend the entire 2 days feeling totally incompotent. But if you can deal with that and not quit, it is the most effective way to learn the material. |

Tank & Nut - Man, its killing me but I have to say I will not be able to make it either. Our schedules are just off. Jlnance, Rubberdown and I were just there on 8/14 and we are going to Boone, October 6th thru 8th. What I would love to do is go to my Father-in-laws place near Hillsville VA for a weekend and then get up with the Roanoke crowd. Maybe we can pull something together later this month. |

The new girlfriend is a keeper!! Picked up a nail couple days ago and due to work couldn't get it fixed till tues called tilleys they said they only carried tires for harleys. I told the girl I bought my tire there in dec for a cityx, she then looked up my account and looked oh we have 3 of those DUH checked with service dept they could mount it at 2:30 sat total cost about $180. I rembered Rosemary had a friend whos husband had opened up mc shop in Salisbuy in June she called and checked they had right size in stock. They advertize free mounting if you buy tires there and said they try to sell at internet prices.I took my wheel to her fri. night after work and she took it there today got a coni road attack mounted for $120 tax included. I had told her last sun about inportace of good gear. she picked out a helment and joe rocket jacket. When rideing last week we got behind 2 harleys with half helmets she said they looked unsafe!smart woman. |

I was riding with TJ yesterday, south on US-1. Passed a red Firebolt down near Holly Springs. Trying to figure out if it was one of you all. What color is Spikes bike? |

I didn't ride that way yesterday. Went toward Garner myself(had to get a DOT Physical, and the bike inspected)...Spike's is red. But I am pretty sure he didnt ride yesterday. There is both a red and a black bolt around here. Larry |

There are people who ride Buells who aren't on Badweb? One of those may be Mike from Ray Price. I've run into him down that way after he gets off work. His is Red. |
