I've heard its possible to drive bikes with no clutch, but my level won't pull into neutral without the clutch. Is there any way to move them if you can't get it into neutral or do I get to fix it in the middle of a parking lot? |

so, I got all the items I need except for the clutch cable itself. Anyone happen to have one of these lying around? I've ordered another one but the sooner I can get it back up the better. |

You should be able to get it into neutral w/o a clutch. Have you tried rocking it back and forth as you try and shift? BUT, you really don't want to drop a running bike into gear w/o the clutch. Just leave it in the parking lot. We can fix it there if we have to. Was the slug still on the end of the cable? |

nope, just wire poking out. I called daves and ordered the cable, he said he would send it out ASAP today and with luck it'll be here by friday. A quick search of the forum turned up this is a known problem, preventable by putting excessive amounts of lubrication between the swage and lever. They should start a sticky of known issues with known solutions so those of us new to the quirks of buell don't have to learn the hard way. Ah well.... And the problem with the parking lot is that its a visitor spot in my friends apartment complex.... I guess I'l just hope they don't notice it If nothing else, they will sure have a helluva hard time towing it with no clutch and the steering lock on! |

Wes, If there's anyway you can get the bike moved to secure area I'd highly recommend that you do so. Steering lock is a trivial hack,,,,can't find neutral and you're thief what do you do? Cut the belt. G2 |

I had my clutch cable brake while rideing about a month ago about 10 miles from home . I was able to down shift and upshift with out clutch by match rpms while shifting I had two stop signs to go threw and slowed way down in first. nothing was comeing so i was able to run them. got home ok. after I stopped I put bike in 1st gear and started it. It rolled forward and started ok just had to carefull, this was just a test to see if it could be done in a emergany. Called tillys and they had one in stock!!! So I went and got it. Pretty easy to change per SM. |

its in the centiennal village parking lot at avent and gorman, haven't had a chance to try rocking it and getting it into neutral. Daves is shipping the clutch cable. I went to ray and called sheltons and neither had it, sheltons claimed noone in the country had it according to HD net so I went straight to daves. Guess I should have tried tilleys first anyways. He said it should be here by the end of the week (friday I'm guessing) Another guy I know has a truck and he said if nothing else we could try to have two people push and one person lift the rear wheel to get it on, not sure how well that would work. Other then the cable, I got some lubrication and tranny fluid and the engine and clutch gaskets, so everything should be good to go. If I get off of work in time today I may try to get it moved into my backyard or something, although as of right now its looking like a long day. |

Wes, if worse comes to worse, I have an old cable in the garage, it is an 'S' cable(longer), and I also have a trailer with ramp. Let me know XB9ser-just hang on to them for now, maybe I'll head up your way, or you could the new girl to Morrow Mountain. Don't pay to ship it, we'll see each other one way or the other. JIM |

Assuming the weather doesn't make a turn for the worse I think we're going to make a go at it tonight. I should have enough help as long as I can get it rocked into neutral..... although that loud clap of thunder makes me think that tomorrow is going to be the better day. Thanks for the offers of help and I'll let everyone know whether or not they should be expectiong calls after work tomorrow by the end of the night :-P |

Just thought I'd pass this info out there. My wife Patty has signed up for a riding course in late September. She is determined to give it a go. I guess we'll see what happens. I might be getting the Ascot back to ship shape before I had planned. I wish her the best, hope ya'll do too. |

Mike - Cool! The Ascot will be a great first bike. We will have to all ride together when she is ready. |

Well, I think 1313, M2nc, Ulywife, & the Webes are under the yellow line. U4euh, Rubberdown, myself, Ram, Gramps, Spike, Sportymark, Zxer, & Wes are under the blue line. Oldog is under every line except the blue one. |

Don't forget Cyclone is in Wilmington with Oldog. We also have Nutsandbolt and Southern Marine in the path as well. Luckily enough this is not a Cat 3. Hope everyone fares well. |

Luckily last night was my late night at work and when I left at 7:30 I didn't even bother putting my rain jacket on as there was no rain falling. Only the roads were wet. Didn't get wet at all. Tonight was another story. It was raining when I left work (only lightly though) and I had to stop by the store and pick up some Icehouse in order to make it through whatever comes this way (hope I got enough Icehouse...). Needless to say that my jeans had to go into the dryer when I got home. I got a call tonight to go to a hurricane party and was offered beer, but since that elusive 'no strings attached sex' wasn't offered I declined. Hell, I didn't think it would be worth getting wet again just for some beer...Busch Ice at that...Damn St. Louis beer... Or maybe this image is more appropriate...

Article in local paper states that there is going to be a new HD/Buell dealer near me, in Reidsville. Maybe there will be enough interest for a C3 North chapter? |
