Jackie, I always got an eye on you guy's, just some topics I stay out off.LOL I would like to see a pic. of your bike after you get all this "Line-X" work done. Sounds like instead of a yellow XBR, your gonna have a mean looking "yellow jacket"XBR with a big black stinger on the end. Sound kinda cool............Charlie |

NUTS does CPR on a weekly basis for his job at the Hospital. He also watches 2 movies each night in between said bouts of attempted life-saving. Dragon countdown continues...
Charlie, good to see you. I was thinking about you last week as Jackie and I rode 43 from Eagle Rock to Bedford. Good times then and now. I believe Jackie's "Stinger" is gonna be a winner. He'll definitely get more of the attention he so deperately requires! |

Tank, Anything with a strong smell such as garlic, pepper, various spices, incense, strong cologne, etc... As long as I can get away from the smell in a pretty quick fashion all will be well. If not, then lets just say somebody better know how to perform an emergency tracheotomy while the Epinephrine shot kicks in. That is one of the biggest reasons I don't work. I have to be "the master of my domain" so to speak. Stress, temps, smells and direct sunlight are the biggest concerns. Charlie, Got the pieces back today and I personally think it looks pretty good. The guy did a great job (not perfect but great) in taping off a nice symetrical pattern without overspray. I am a bit concerned about whether or not it is going to peel off (ain't I always concerned about something LOL!!). Nuts has me second guessing the front fender idea so I may have to revise it a bit before the treatment. Route 43 was very nice but I wish you could have been with us to enjoy the company and scenery. Nuts, Take a shower buddy! We walked through tons o' poison ivy today while scouting. Don't want your ink work to get delayed because of a rash. Maybe tomorrow we can work in a trip to the tattoo joint to checkout the other guys' work and see about my eyebrow or nose piercing. For all who didn't know by now I am going through my mid life crisis and have decided upon either getting my eyebrow or nose pierced. Nuts and I were going to get 3/4 sleeve tattoos but my physician gave me a stern warning about how my health issues might cause some big time problems. Of course as usual Nuts gets his way and starts his tattoo journey on Sunday (peck). |

Jackie, I hope all this piercing talk is "BS", one of you two has to remain level headed. Nuts had better be really careful about the poison ivy and the tatooes(any clothing or piece of gear that he might have contaminated)gets into that tatoo before it scabs over could be bad. I really miss flying up and down rt43. I've ran that road for almost forty years. I know every bump, dip and curve in it,sob, sob. You guys live in a riders paradise..............Charlie |

Jim, Yeah, that's what my wife said. The kids think I will be the coolest daddy in the world LOL. Surprisingly she like the barbel in the eyebrow better than the nose ring. Charlie, I gotta do something different. The idea of Nuts getting the new ink is KILLING me! I think he is just doing it out of spite. Don't worry though. Whichever one I choose will be tasteful by todays' standards. |

Yeah, that's what my wife said. Congrats on managing the crisis and the wife at the same time. My wife had her own midlife crisis. She traded in the minivan for a big ol pickup truck. Then she decided she needed to trade me in as well. In retrospect I have to admit she made a good decision, though it took me a bit of time to see it like that. Surprisingly she like the barbel in the eyebrow better than the nose ring. Hmmm. I thought girls were supposed to be all about tongue piercings. |

Nuts, I thought I read here somewhere that you held a position in the medical field, but was not sure. Who's that shady lookin' dude messin' with your bike? I'm with Jim and Charlie on the piercing deal. I don't want anything hanging off that might get ripped out. Jackie, looks pretty good so far. What's the plan for the fairing?? The chickies with the big hair and tight torn jeans won't be able to resist. Tank |

OK Jackie, You got me on the pic's. The first one looks like Buchanan, but the sign is all wrong, maybe Eagle rock? the second looks like the Peaks near the gas station. Bike looks good, need one of those "killer Bee" decals to set it off. As far as the piercing thing, Im glad I left before you guys got all weird, ya'll need to ride more, get out in the sun and quite watching those weird movies at 2am with the "Zombies" and "Werewolvies".....Charlie |

Charlie, You got the second one right. The first one is the Paint Bank store where you can sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch. The pic was taken to the right of the gas pumps. They added a nice looking sit down restaurant in the back which serves Buffalo burgers. Jason said I should have took the pic from the other side of the store to give you a better chance but I wanted to make it more difficult. Boy, sounds like if I get my face pierced nobody will want to be my friend . Jim, My wife just traded her mini van in for a big ole' SUV. Hope that doesn't mean she is getting ready to trade me in as well. Who knows though if I keep coming up with these off the wall ideas. Next on the agenda is hair micrografts so I can grow a full head of hair and then cut it into a mohawk like Russell Mitchell. That dude is older than me and pulls it off well. |

Charlie, Nuts and I have officially lost our minds. I got my nose pierced today and Nuts is going tomorrow for his first ink session. See what happens when you leave us alone for too long ? The LineX seems to have hardened up overnight into a very durable finish. Yesterday it was kinda "spongy" on the edges but when I checked it today it was hard as a rock. Glad I let it cure overnight instead of getting sucked into a ride yesterday. Nuts, Have fun tomorrow and relish the experience. If you get done early enough to buy minnows or seine some give me a call in the afternoon. If not I plan on riding over tomorrow evening to see the outline. |

Hey Tank, have you ever run the Pirelli Diablo Corsa's? I have an opportunity to buy a set w/ only 200 miles on them for $200. They were used at a track day by an inexperienced rider and look brand new. Not at all like race take-offs. I've seen those and these are no where near that abused. We agreed $200 would include mount and balance; wheels off of course and this guy has mounted numerous XB rims before. I'd like to get them changed out just before our Dragon trip. I can abuse them at The Gap and when I wear 'em down; say 2000 miles I can throw the "Strada's" Back on. What say you? NUTS |

I say you better jump on that deal quick! That is what I have on my bike right now. Excellent grip and feedback. Got about 7-800 miles on them including two track days, still have plenty of life left. They literally look a little rough around the edges due to the rough track surface at VIR.

Tank, Good looking tire, looks like you really got some heat in it,good job. I had one that looked like that once, but I got mine from the road they were repaving in front of my house.LOL Nuts, anybody up there go to VIR this weekend? Would have liked to, but we had a race of our own in SC. Sound like a good deal on the tires especially with the mount& balance.Check the tires and see if they are marked for "direction of rotation",if not make sure you put them on going same direction that he had them,or they might handle weird and rough. Jackie, sorry to hear about your peircing,oh well,it's your nose.lol Hey maybe from a safety aspect you could hook up a teather to a kill switch, just incase, naw that sounds too painful, just a thought.Do you think you'll have to put "camo paint" on it when you go hunting, those "ole turkeys" have pretty sharp eyesight.LOL just bustin your chops alittle................Charlie |

Charlie, I actually am pleased with the way it turned out. I'll let Nuts explain why he isn't tattooed. As far as needing camo I am so good at calling them in I could be wearing a neon Budweiser sign and still get them close enough for even Nuts to hit HEHEHEHE! Nuts, It was 1 1/2 inch short of a citation based on measuring my forearm and outstretched hand. With the mouth closed and the tail fin pinched I believe it would have made it. I knew I should have kept it. Oh well, another day perhaps but I will have a tape measure with me for sure. |

I'll run down to give the tires a deposit today. I don't want them mounted for at least 2 weeks, around here that could be a thousand miles. NUTS is not tattooed because it would be financially irresponsible. Endystory. Nice fish there buckaroo, I told you it was bigger than the one on the wall!! MauiWaui! |

Charlie, My good friend the times they are a changin'. I have visions of me lifting my children up in arms beautifully adorned with tasteful artwork. It seems the days of rash negative judgements made upon those with ink have begun to fade. It's not like I'm getting swastikas or anything. Ever since I was a littlun I've wanted a sunken ship adorned across my belly. An old man with a well earned belly of treasure. After two laps of Bent Mtn and pushing so hard I nearly lost the front I stopped into put a deposit on the Diablo Corsa's. An hour later the sport touring tires I have are still mucho tacky to the touch and have the tell tale boil marks at the edges! Time to take it easy I guess. I know there are guys who push these tires further but I don't think the Buell has the weight of other bikes to do. NUTS |

Nuts, Im not a tatoo snob,I have one myself. My younger son has about somewhere close to a couple thousand in ink.(nothing bad, just good art)but it just gets to be too much after so many and then tying them altogether. I just hate to see you start down that road, but Im not gonna disown ya. Just trying to make you think about it some..............Charlie |

Thanks for the kind words, Charlie. The track was hot as hell that day. Here's a pic of the front. The back is worn to the edges. but the front is nowhere near the edge.
Nuts, if you're pushing that hard, you may want to drop the pressure a couple pounds. FYI, I run 33F/35R in my Scorpion Syncs, and 30/30 in the Diablos for the track. I'm thinking I should go up a little (32F/33R) on the Diablos for street running. And the Diablos are marked for direction of rotation. I'm not against the piercings and tats either, just not for me. Charlie, I didn't know you were tattooed. Is it tasteful or something racy along the lines of a Playboy pinup model LOL? Got 3 myself and must admit you are right about thinking it through. While I love having ink I wish I would have had the foresight to have them tie into a bigger pictue instead of just slapped on in random places. I think Nuts is making a wise decision. You may be surprised to know that I actually tried to get him to slow down and study other peoples' work and to really think about what he was doing and who would be doing it. In the end I think he made a very responsible decision (a sure sign of getting old ). Tank, You sure you didn't hit them tires with a heat gun to give the illusion of Valentino Rossi style riding skills. After seeing them I have my doubts about you being well behaved at the Dragon . |

Jackie, I have a "Black Panther"(non- political) that is about 47 yrs.old.Was the insignia of my fighter squadron back in the late fifties. The problem I have is with alot of ink, it makes it hard for a person to sometimes get a good job, among other things. Not everybody knows you, so first impressions can cost you alot sometimes. I just want Nuts to think maybe 10 yrs. from now, is he going to feel the same way.Darn stuff won't wash off ya know. Tank, How many hot laps do you have on those tires? If you had to run a whole race on them I don't think they would last. They look like they were really hot.......Charlie |

Charlie, I appreciate the kind thoughts. It is quite rare in this world to stumble upon people as nice as I have met in this small community we have here. I will truly take the necessary time to consider the possible ramifications when the time comes. Tank I'm running 32f/34r and may have to drop 2psi in both. Usually, after a spirited ride with Jackie we inspect our tires to find his stock Dunslops real tacky to the touch and my Diablo's not so much. But the tire temp today must have been really up there. I need to try the Corsa's to see if my next set should be another sport touring tire or the regular Diablo's. Time'll tell. NUTS |

Jackie, being "well behaved", and "the Dragon" seems kinda' like an oxymoron. Besides, it's all relative. Charlie, I have no idea how many laps, but I could guess fairly accurately that they have between 200-225 track miles in 20min sessions between two visits to VIR. The dude parked next to me the second trip was in the same group with me and had the presence of mind to check his odo first thing, and at the end of the day he reported 125mi. In person, the tread is much deeper than the pics show. |
