Saw that little guy on my ride. I got back on the bike after I took the picture and noticed that the shifting was different. It got more different the further I went. My initial thought was that I had broken something when I adjusted the clutch. But I eventually figured out the problem was that the shifter lever was spinning on the peg. Perhaps this was caused by spraying brake cleaner on the shifter to wash off the oil last weekend? By the time I got into Apex, I couldn't shift at all, the shifter just spun. Yes, you can pull away from a stop light in 3rd gear, at least if you're going down hill. I thought I was home free once I got onto US-1, but I hit a traffic jam in Cary. Right as I was dropping under 10 mph, I came to the Cary Parkway exit and took it. The light at the top was green and all was good. Except the light at Tryon and Cary Parkway was red. Liberal application of boot heel to the shifter tightened it up enough to use, even though it was pointed up toward the sky. After I got home, 20 seconds with a Allen wrench had the problem fixed. |

JNance, both shows are here in Southern Pines and a very low key "schooling" type events. My mother and daughter are there today and I'm back and forth between the kitchen project and and playing groom at the show. Tomorrow, my wife and mother are showing and I'm playing groom and carpenter again. At least I got to ride my horses this morning.... hopefully tomorrow too. Took the long way to the farm on the motor. I'm an expert at squeezing the most out of a day. "Hi" to your family. |

Larry - thanks for the link to the CarePages. That is the best thing anyone has come up with to keep family and friends informed of someone's condition. Good news that Aaron is being moved to a regular room. I hope he continues to improve and that you got the results you were hoping for from this past surgery. |

Hey Big Daddy& Spectrum, Sorry you guys couldn't make it. Was a busy nite, had a fellow build me a motor and install it in a frame I had(different motor mounts and other stuff) Spent most of practice time trying to gear that bike. The new motor was "hoo hum", ran it in the heat race and squeeked a third(not happy for almost $4K ) Used our regular bike in the final(had to start on back row because of bike change) pulled a solid 2nd. Gave him the bike back and told him to find me another 10 or 15 HP(it will be spending alot of time on his dyno this week)......Charlie |

Charlie, Life doesn't allow me to make any kind of solid plans,,,,I woke up at about 5:00AM on Saturday, grabbed a quick shower and was out of here by 5:30. Nowhere to be, nothing to do, and I remembered VIR was happening, so I headed that way. The lot attendant pointed me to a spot and there stood JQ and Linda (IIRC.) Caught up with Carlos, Brankin, a bunch of other folks, and in general had a very good time. G2 PS VIR has no ATM's -- take cash! |

Greg, VIR has gotten alot of my money over the years. We ran sportcars there in the seventies and been to several motorcycle events and a trackday inlast 4 or 5 years.I like the place except for the "Oak tree turn"(ran off the track there twice)I think I was just getting tired.......Charlie |

CC - Keep us informed of your racing. VIR was a good time but not worth the money. I had a better time last year at the Formula USA race. I am the same way with just about any sport. I like the minor league events better. You spend less money and get more show. So keep us informed and maybe we can make it out. |

Ok, I'm slow. I saw Cars for the second time today. There is a scene where the main car is getting mobbed by his fans, and these two girl cars roll open their headlights and flash them. Oh, I get it now. |

Hi, home from the hospital for the first night and got lots to do. Aaron is doing well although his pain level is pretty high, and we believe that will improve once they let him walk around. But he has to have a clam shell brace that wraps around him first and the brace people don't work on the weekends. Anyway I wanted to pass along a couple of weird things. Standing in the waiting room of the PICU waiting(forever), on the nurses to let us come back. And I am staring at the edge of the door and it says Buell Door Company. Then one lady that was waiting in the Lobby was telling us about her brothers motorcycle accident and I asked what he rode she said A "Triumph...Something". I said at least he didnt tear up a Buell. I got this weird look from her, thought she was going to curse me for being cold. Nope, she asked me what a Buell was? I told her, and she laughed and said the first thing he said when he woke up is " I should have bought the Buell, they are funner in the corners". She said no one in her family knew what he was talking about and contributed it to the brain injury. All this after seeing all the sportbikes out yesterday and knowing they were headed to VIR. I miss riding and its only been a week. Oh and last but not least, My son gave me a really small motorcycle that is a puzzle made out of like credit card plastic. Glanced at it and it said kazuki. Just laughed and started to put it in my pocket when I glanced closer and saw the spring underneath. Its a Buell, I don't have the camera now(at the hospital)but Spike said He would help me later take a picture and post it. Later guys Larry. |

Just letting you guys know the bike is running fine again. Ended up being a cracked vacuum cap on the throttle body. It's almost funny how a part that small can make a bike run so bad. It would be wise to keep an extra on board. |

We're on KILLBOY! The Cyclops (first of 3) The Orange Uly (first of 3) The Black Uly (first of 13) As you can see, I made multiple passes by the killboy guy. I'm sure Mike and Carlos were at the other end wondering why I was so slow. |
