Jackie, you blew it. I found 2 lost issues of TWO. I'll be doling them out with each payment; plus the VIG of course! I was able to get the lawn cut with only one yellow Jacket sting. I'm really starting to not like those things. Maybe you could get a little more black on your bike and we could dub it "The Yellow Jacket." NUTS' nemesis. I refuse to talk about "new" bikes until after the Dragon trip. It's making me NUTS Hey Tank that Lightning can be a real PITA. Especially when they fly by you in the corners! I think I need to get out and ride; so tomorrow morning while STROT is sleeping I'll be rippin up the mountains. Charlie, I'm sure the heat is killing you down there. Hopefully the racing is keeping you sharp. There's been interest in assembling Buellers to attend the FX race at VIR. I've planned on attending. It'd be good to see you down there. NUTS |

That was the most intense lightning storm I have ever had the pleasure to be witness to. You know it's close when you hear the pop before you see the light. I was witness to at least six. AND it didn't rain until after the storm passed. intense! Jackie, I would get that payment plan in writing if I were dealing with a NUT. And don't look at the Bling, it only means more polishing. Nuts, the Lightning only passes on the outside. I may get Nuts enough to ride tomorrow myself, if it doesn't interfere with my hair appointment. Tank |

Nuts, Rough two nights! I don't think I will have the energy to go wading tomorrow but if you want to do something a bit more sedintary like shooting give me a ring about 4:00. With the Atarax pumping away I probably won't even get up until you call. Apologize for ruining your weekend. |

What, no mention of the above bling? You must have taken a whuppin. I'll see how the day goes, maybe you'll get to sleep straight through til NYPD Blue. BTW the weather is perfect for a morning ride, I'm heading out to beat the heat. NUTS |

Jackie,I'll place the last bothersome call for the day. Sorry you are still ill. Hopefully you'll be rested up for tomorrow, if not I understand. We've got plenty of time no need to push the limits. However, I'll be riding the Lightning with my recently acquired IPod. Overcast days just beg to be ridden. NUTS |

Well, I took the beast out for a nice leisurely trip around the block(about 12mi). I didn't wear earplugs on purpose to see just how loud it is, and she's pretty dang loud(at least to me). I could also hear what sounded like an exhaust leak somewhere on the right side, like a "fft, fft, fft" with every exhaust pulse, so I don't think it's at the heads. I didn't put any type of "sealer" back on it like the factory stuff. Did ya'll, and do ya think maybe I should try it??? What is that stuff, just hi-temp rtv, or form-a-gasket? And my original riveted points cover is loose. As much as I hate to, I'm going to have to get one of those nice Blingy covers for it. |

Tank, it's a shame you have to go and settle for a new "blingy" points cover. Some guys just don't have any luck.LOL I have not heard an exhaust leak from my bike and I did not use any type of sealant. Maybe the Torca clamp needs replacing, or the header was worked loose on install? The previous pipe owner may have used monkey torque getting that thing off, and in the process made the header-muffler outlet out of round. I dunno but I'm sorry all isn't right with your ride. As for myself I got to ride twice today on two different bikes. Took the Lightning out this morning for about 50 miles of smiles. I hopped on pops BMW for a run up the same path. That thing is deceptively fast! The Buell seems more engaging to me. There is a lot more response from the motor and suspension. Now the Beemer requires less effort but there is less reward. The thing just goes; it never seems like you're in the right gear and there is no exhaust thump to let you know what your RPM's are. But the handling once figured out is pretty sweet. It doesn't look it but that thing corners smoothly, the rear brake really works too. I mean REALLY works. Either way I had a smile on my face all day. This is for sure.....I want multiple bikes! there is no feeling like suiting up and thinking, "what bike do I feel like riding?" I'm thinking the next "addition" should be the BMW GS, with the full compliment of bags and doodads. Some day all my moto dreams will be a reality, well most of them. That's what I married a doctor for in the first place! NUTS |

Glad you had a great day! I didn't know your pops rode a BMW?? What does the rest of the Fla. contingent lay two wheels to asphalt with? I cannot be sure if my headers were this blue after my last track day, or if I made them this way today. I don't think it was today, so I really can't tell by the pipes if she's too lean. I had absolutely no popping from the exhaust, not on decel or anytime. That's a good sign to me. Just have to fix the "fft, fft, fft", and the lousy stock timing cover. I have some baddass permatex that should do the trick. Tank |

Oh, just a note.. The Gentleman informed me that the "path" to the houses is not the flattest land, and to advise all riders that the ability to traverse steep gravel must be considered. My driveway here pretty much sums up his concerns, and I'm sure ya'll Roanoke cats will be fine, but it will be a good idea to walk it before you ride up it! Tank |

Thanks for the heads up regarding the driveway. Good to hear your ride is in mostly good running shape. The FL contingent will be riding mostly Honda cruisers. There are two cats who are bringing their GSXR's (750,1000) and talk of a full dresser HD as well as a Goldwing. Then of course there will be the contingent of the little, loud Buells ripping around. I can hear it now.."Man those bikes are tiny. what size motor is in there?" Then we push the bikes around into the lineup, let the fuel pump do its thing and then; WHAMMO. Instant crowd gathered. "yeah they corner pretty well." NUTS |

...WHAMMO. Instant crowd gathered. "yeah they corner pretty well." I got excited just reading that! I can hear them now after we "fire up", and they can't think of anything else to say... "Hey, you got a headlight out". I went into cybersearch mode in search of a better map of western NC than what is available for free on various sites. I found a good one, and a book detailing different routes/rides, and oh lookie here, they take paypal, too! Anybody want to guess the name of the paypal recipient????? That's right ladies and gents.... Mr. R. Johnson! I swear, that dude must own western NC. Tank |

Mr. R Johnson has my retirement working to his advantage. Buy several houses, rent them weekly and sit back and rake in the $$$$. Hopefully he's a nice enough fellow too. Tank, are you going to make it to VIR? It looks like everyone is trying to get organized so we can make this ann unofficial "Buell happening." If at all possible I'm planning on heading down. NUTS |

I might just run down for the day as it's only about 1.5 hrs. I guess camping is always a possibility, there's a motorcycle only campground not terribly far away. Although getting the tent and other goods attached to the Lightning could be quite interesting. Pops is looking for the link to the books with maps you found. If you have the time can you forward the link? Cheers then and until the next post keep thinking Fast&Loose. NUTS |

Nuts, Sorry I missed your call. Been sleeping on and off all weekend trying to recoup. I hope you found something to do to occupy your time whilst your old buddy tries to get back to his normal self. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll feel up to going shooting since the muzzleloader will arriving sometime in the afternoon. I'll give you a call later this evening when I get my wits about me. |

Brutha, is it wrong to worry about another dude? I was about 5 minsaway from calling the hospital to see if you were admitted. You missed some good riding and a huge buck sighting. I'll fill you in when you call. Nice to have you back. Tank, thanks for the link. I took the lightning up the same route I took Pops' BMW yesterday. Man my ace is sore but I am happy to be Buelling again. I was fantasizing about making my own ride video with some quality tunes and the Drummer setting the backbeat. I took the route I normally take in 3rd gear in 4th. Can't wait to get the bottom half of my race suit so I can get to scraping up them sliders. Too bad Jackie doesn't like that route. We've got to get you out this way someday to show you our "best of." NUTS |

Nuts, In my drug induced stupor (never fear, legally prescribed and non narcotic), I thought I saw a commercial for a race going on down in South Boston on the 18th. Be a neat little day if we head down early, sit in the shade all day and then come back late. Prolly take us about 1 1/2 hours one way if we ride our normal rate. Up for muzzleloading tomorrow? I'm going back to bed in the hopes of getting up in time for Kingdom of Heaven tonight at 11:30 on HBO. Starting to get ideas again of warhorses, armor and battle. Actually, I was startin' to worry also, and we haven't even formally met, yet. Glad to hear you'll be back in action! I was thinking of doing a track day at VIR on Oct. 16. I really like the track and am totally addicted, but I may try to come out and see where ya'll ride instead. I don't think my bossman would be too happy if I took enough time off to do both. So, here's my plan... I usually take a mon+tues off for a track day, but instead, I could take fri+mon(and maybe tues) to come up and see ya'll, and have plenty of time to recover from "travel-lag". Just an idea at this point, so input is welcome. I don't even know if I can afford a trip at that time. My cycle insurance starts in Sept. and my car insurance starts early Oct.. We will see! Tank |

Good to see you're nearly up and about BIATCH! Mind you I have to work tomorrow at 8:45 so I don't know how early you can get out. I'd suspect we'll be needing a good 3 hrs of play time. Post so I'll know if I should run out in the am and get primers and pellets. I did pick up 5 DEA silhouette targets for practice. Vincent Vega. |

I missed Kingdom Of Heaven. That sucks! Thanks for the concern guys! Thank the Lord I ain't dead yet LOL! Nuts, Provided the package arives before 4:00 then we should be able to go up and try them out. I would go ahead and try to get your supplies so you will be ready to roll. Even if we don't make it tomorrow we can still go on Tuesday. Back to sleep now |

Rode around in the rain all morning (on the BMW) trying to find propellant for a 45 caliber. Jackpot at Bryansteen's. Pellets, primers and saboted bullets. I'm ready to rock; now how do I work this thing? VV |

Tank, I appreciate you asking and feel somewhat like a boob for having to put ya'll through this. I am allergic to most spicy smells (pepper included) as well as heavy perfumes and incense. Combined with the allergies to sun and heat you can sorta see why I stay up all night and tend to avoid crowded situations. It's hard asking people to work around all my restrictions and I hope this doesn't dampen your desire to go. Me and Nuts went out this evening and shot the ole' smokepoles. Can you believe he actually hit the paper this time (your week off is over Nuts!) . |

No worries here, mate! I don't see any inconvenience at all. The only heavy odors coming from me and my stuff would be the untimely gas cloud from whatever the hell that was I ate yesterday. I try to give fair warning, though. ...I hope this doesn't dampen your desire to go. Not sure that's possible. I got excited just reading Nuts description of us firing up our small pack of loud, unruly little bikes in front of the Fla. folks for the first time. I gotta' agree with Nuts, that's enough talk of the "smokepole", unless there is a member of the female persuasion involved. Tank |
