Dave, good to hear from ya. My 9S has has a intermittent stumble with the front jug as well. I wonder if it's the same problem. I rode over 1000 miles to homecoming and was on my way home when it started again. Just cuts out a little. Has even fouled a couple plugs on the front cylinder over its 17000 miles. I wish that gremlin would go away! |

You're a man of class Dave. I kept expecting the "I blew them away in a turn," part. |

My 9S has has a intermittent stumble with the front jug as well It seems that the plug wires take a beating on XB's. They're in a pretty hostle area due to being shrouded by the frame so they get exposed to a lot of heat. Further, as is typical of anyone's factory plug wires, the insulators are on the thin side. About the same mileage as you have now, my front wire failed due to cracks in the insulator and an intermittent miss started. This time it was probably my fault due to the way I routed the wire. It wound up rubbing on the idle adjust cable which in turn was rubbing against the top motor mount which caused a short to ground when things got warm. The wire itself showed little to no visable damage but there was evidence on the cable and the mount. What I did was wrap the idle cable with harness tape, and shielded the front plug wire with some plastic electrical conduit wire tied to the boot at the coil end. I also bumped the idle up closer to 1150 rpm and that seem to clean everything up. The popping has mostly gone away(it always did it some when twisting the engine hard), and I haven't had the front plug fall off since. I've ridden it to the east side of Cincinnati out to Mt Orab, thru Cincinnati during rush hour, and beat on it Saturday down to Bloomington and back. The ride we took down to French Lick had it acting up by the time we got back to 37 then most of the 75 miles back home. Hence why I didn't stick around for dinner that night. I kept expecting the "I blew them away in a turn," part. Jim, It crossed my mind a time or two, but you know my track record when I decide to "show them how it's done" Brankin, you have WAY too much time on your hands. |

Man Dave, it seems the C3'er have infested the Hoosier board. I always knew you were a bad influence. We are still on Vacation. I came back for class but am going back to the beach now. Talk to you this weekend! Love the bubbles. How about... "I sure hope that tree is farther than it looks!" "Look ma, no hands.... or anything else in a few seconds!!!" |

I don't know what to tell ya Chad......it was hard to see that far away, maybe it was just a second picture of a Uly, but that doesn't make much sense either. Oh well. I like the new colors. I'm hopin '08 is the year of the FIREBOLT! I think it's funny how people on the XBoard are bitching that there isn't a new bike with 150 rwhp this year. As if Erik can just wave a magic wand and create new motorcycles! |

I rode in WV Tuesday and Wednesday...some of the best roads you would want and then some...WV promotes M/C riding..the Governor has his picture on the WV road map sitting on a bike(HD) and talking about riding in the mountains..there is very little police presence and less traffic than the more famous NC area. I based out of Marlinton, WV..rode about 200 miles each day with about 30-50 miles of dirt/gravel... great fun on the ULY...would be a great club ride for a long weekend.....it is 400 miles from Louisville,KY. Pics later...anyone going to the AMA flat track races in Greenville, Ohio this weekend?...(Saturday).Some of the best racing you will see..pretty sure I am going...AL |

great results in motogp with nicky kickin ass !!! go usa! we watched the gp at the corkscrew and over the other side of the hill, where you see about 65% of the track from an eagle's eye view. the hill is tall , and the bottom of the bowl is so low that there was a buzzard cruising below our viewpoint at the beginning of the race. that elevation made for a very impressive flyover as well. we got to see the formula extreme race (mcwilliams 999 in 7th at the FINISH. that's right,.....i said at the FINISH !! its a new experience! we watched it from the love shack, which was pretty cool...lots of buellers (even older than me!), and a great view of rainey curve and turn 10. the weather was record breaking hot. the track was coming apart. the road into the track was coming apart, saturday and sunday were both over 100. track temps as high as 146. everybody HOT HOT HOT!! luckily, tight t shirts, tops and pushups must make the girls keep from getting so hot, as many of the ladies seemed to know that exposing greater surface areas results in more efficient cooling. unfortunately, it made guys hotter....... anyway, great time at the track last weekend. tomorrow is a 7am mountain ride for 150-200 miles. thursday is dirt bikes in hollister. friday is a 400-500 mile round trip for the weekend to a place on the ocean about 150 miles north of san francisco. back here to redwood city on sunday night, on the plane on monday morning, back to work on tuesday, see you guys at our next meeting. wish you all could have been along for a dream motorcycle vacation!!! |
