It had been quite a while since we had a meeting, and since quite a few of us have been craving Hollands Fish Camp it seemed like our destination (not that we ever really need one...) for our after meeting ride was decided. By the time the meeting was scheduled to start the parking lot looked like this (those damn Harley riders, except for the unknown blue bagger rider, just have to be different don't they?):
Of particular interest was this different (as in never seen before) Uly:
(Ulywife, since you know Carlos better than any of us you'll have to tell us what that look on his face means...) This Uly, owned by Tim a.k.a. Flynuly, had some pretty cool accessories on it as can be seen below.
Just as we had found out that John Martindale was in the middle of a closing and wouldn't be able to be a part of our meeting, another Buell rider Red a.k.a. Jetbuilder showed up on his trusty steed. The partial photo of Red's bike (funny, it looks blue to me...) shows that as Webe hypothesized the lightpoles have something to do with pictures being in focus.
In the dealership some '07 Harley's were present.
I think Harley has really figured out a good cost savings idea by making the clearcoat optional...
One newer Buell thing that I finally got to see was the revised chin fairing, so it was an educational day for me.
We finally sat down for our meeting. Hopefully Carlos will summarize for us. And before we took off for the fish camp I just had to take another picture to prove Webe's theory that it's got something to do with the lightpoles. You be the judge...
Unfortunately this is where I quit taking pictures, but the ride down Old Maple Hill Road was a fun time, even with Flynuly's sighting of 2 deer about 3/4 of the way down. After a GREAT meal at the fish camp smaller groups headed towards their respective homes. For me personally it looked pretty ominous as I got to Jacksonville as the skies darkened and lightning flashed. As soon as I headed North on 17 all was behind me. But with the 'Sunday drivers' in Jacksonville the ominous weather was catching up to me. Fortunately after leaving Jacksonville the gray skies were left far behind. It was great to meet some new faces at the meeting and I hope everyone enjoyed the day as I did. Now, Carlos, what did I miss? 1313 |

(Ulywife, since you know Carlos better than any of us you'll have to tell us what that look on his face means...) Hard to say with him. I think it was something like "wonder if that tall windshield would keep me dry since the HD rain suit doesn't seem to work"!! Who knows............ Hope you found your dinner and key. It cost you a Mt. Dew!! Thanks for the pictures. We can always count on you to have the camera and post them pretty quickly. We'll let you know when the parts for the "girlfriend" come in. Tim - good to meet you. Hopefully we'll see you again soon. Red - sorry I missed you. Trying to have a meeting with a 2 year old is not very productive, so I just opted for the Fish Camp. Maybe next time. Glad you both came out to meet some of the C3 group. Kristi |

As 1313 stated, we had pretty good and quick meeting and a longer ride this time. In contrast to popular belief, I did not get lost, I went the long way on purpose. Beautacus Rd looked good on the map, and I think it was more entertaining than going NC-111 the whole way. Webe - Did you ever get a chance to ride down OMHR with the Blast? Poor Webe found out that the stock Blast seat was not very comfortable and had to get off the bike before we got to OMHR. He took the quicker (Straight as a board) more direct route. Maybe the Superglide for the Henderson Tour you promised. Meeting Notes Attendance: 1313 FlyUly Jet Builder John M. John W. M2nc Southern Marine WebeThumpin 2 more Track Days for Red a.k.a. Jet Builder Jet Builder is going to do two more track days. Spike, I am posting this for you because I know you have stated in the past that you want more track days. Even though Rubberdown wants me to go with him to do a track day - RT & Uly, I do not know if I can bring myself to take the Uly to the track and I still have to buy the leathers. In reality I want to get the M2 ready for track use and that won't happen this year. More Local Rides: In reality we are better at coming up with something last minute than plan a local ride. We had a good ride after the meeting yesterday and that was something that came up from Oldog questioning the location of Holland's Fish Camp. Here are two ideas that came from the meeting #1 - Michael's for Breakfast ride - 1313 wants to do another breakfast ride but he would like to have it in the Fall. #2 - Henderson NC - Webethumpin has family in the Henderson area and says he can give us a tour of great roads in the area. We maybe can coordinate something with Shelton's. They are opening a new store in the area some time in the future. I will e-mail John Martindale at the dealership for details. Up Coming Events August: 12-14 - Jlnance, M2nc & Rubberdown trip to Asheville NC 18-20 - AMA @ VIR 1. We had questions about the XBRR. I already posted a question in the Race thread about any XBRRs racing in the FX race at VIR. 2. What are the plans? We talked about camping, hotels or just riding up for the FX race. It seams that Jet Builder, 1313 and I are at least on the latter. I am tentative depending on the XBRR answer. 3. Rasmonis from the DC-VA-MD Riders group is talking about getting local groups together and having a big showing. We will contact him as we get answers to #1 & #2. September: 4-15 - Bratpac II Ride The plan is for Ulywife and I to hook up with this group around Kristi's parents place. The dates are foggy right now because those doing the rides are still planning it. Check out the thread in storm fronts for details. 9th - Salute Ride Neuse Way Nature Park Kinston NC $10 per bike - $5 for pillion Webethumpin is helping set up this ride that will benefit the Salute presentation for Veterans. October: 6-8 - C3 Adventure to Western NC See thread for details, all are welcome. |
